• Why can't I view the TypeKit fonts in Dreamweaver CS6?

  Hey everybody,

  Simple task, yet so difficult to realize: I use Dreamweaver CS6 to build my Web site. I have the "Museo-without" families of police published on my website via TypeKit. In Dreamweaver, after you have added the line of JavaScript to the head of the document and refrencing the time in CSS, it is impossible for me to see the real police I saw live or view it in my browser. It doesn't show until I have download on my web server. Its impossible to download on my web server every time just to see what looks like the site with that font. I even added the 'localhost' and ' 127.0.0.1' IP in settings Kit of TypeKit. Nothing shows the actual fonts in dreamweaver.

  I spent my whole Saturday trying to achieve this simple task, without success - its beginning to discurage me and I'm almost ready to make all the text, an image and end with this headache would cause.

  I would be very grateful for any help anyone might have on the subject!

  The answer comes right at the end of the video. In a Word, adding localhost for the parameters of your Kit alone is not enough. You also need a local web server on your computer. In the video of Paul, it is running MAMP (for Mac). Under Windows, you can run XAMPP.

  Judging by the video of Paul, you should always use the preview in browser. However, I think that if you set up a test server in your Dreamweaver site definition, you should also be able to see the fonts in Live view mode.

  If you are not familiar with the implementation of a test and MAMP/XAMPP server, see my tutorial at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html. The tutorial is for testing of PHP, but you can also use MAMP/XAMPP to test regular .html pages.

  You can emulate the processor layout you are obviously aiming for by zero-ing on the margins of the style sheet by adding

  but who will be zero all margins on all the tags of paragraph in the world. Check the results and see if that's what you want to achieve.

• I looked through the video tutorials for CS6 and can't find any help for PHP using SQL.

  In response to your question, you should be aware that PHP in CS6 Dreamweaver server behaviors use original MySQL functions that are should be removed from a future release of PHP. Server behaviors have been deleted from the CC of Dreamweaver. If you plan to create a website using PHP and MySQL, do not rely on Dreamweaver server behaviors. You must instead use MySQLi (improved MySQL) or PDO (PHP Data Objects) .

  If you are looking for video tutorials, you might be interested in the class I created for lynda.com. As a beginner, a good starting point would be Introducing PHP or PHP for Web designers (there are several videos of the sample that you can watch for free on my site). Both courses have been recorded on Dreamweaver (PHP for Dreamweaver CS6 Web designers), presenting the PHP on Dreamweaver CS5.5. PHP for Web designers shows how to connect to MySQL with MySQLi. You need a subscription to lynda.com to watch full courses, but you can get a free seven day trial by following the links on my site.

  If you don't want to commit to a subscription service, I also wrote a book called PHP Solutions, which covers MySQLi and PDO in depth. It also shows how to build a login system. At the moment, the second edition is available, but a third revised edition is due to the on sale in December.

  There are also a lot of free resources on the web you can find. The important thing to beware of is that a lot of old documents is based on the original functions of MySQL. Regardless of the resource you use, make sure it shows how to use MySQLi or PDO.

  You can also do a check of malware with some digitization programs of malicious software on the Windows computer.

  I went the same route. I started to want to learn web design and the Muse is an excellent tool. The code it generates, however, not to use it in Dreamweaver. This could be done, I think this isn't worth it, even for a real Geek. Once you get to Muse you will find there are things missing, stuff, you want to do, but are just tough in Muse or you can buy a widget. It is possible in DW and you get which through subscription, so it makes sense. Me what I know now, I'll go directly to DW to learn, except if you want results right now. If you don't want something to cause I stay with Muse and maybe learn to animate CC to add some pizazz to the site. If you only want a simple layout and a couple supporting stick with Muse pages if you want a larger site use DW.   Try to run this program in your usual account, then copy and paste the result in a response. The program was created by Etresoft, a regular contributor.  Use please copy and paste the screenshots can be difficult to read. On the screen with the Options, please open Options and tick the boxes in the bottom 2 before the race.
