cancel the desktop settings

I've been messing around with the desktop settings and I don't like setting that I put. Now I don't know how to restore the old settings. How can I cancel the settings I have now in my previous? Oh and I change just as the pointer of the mouse, the desktop icons are smaller and little in the corner now and it's just a mess... Help!

Restore point:

http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

See you soon.

  • Why my desktop settings are changed at the next logon?

I'm on a domain.  Our use of Office XP SP3 PC.  My phone has recently been reinstalled with the same OS.  I'm supposed to have some local privileges on my laptop, but I don't know how to check this.

My network administrator says we do not have a group policy that forces the desktop settings default to the XP defaults during the connection, however, is what happens whenever I had to log on to my laptop using the domain credentials.  Someone at - it suggestions?

    Thank you

The quick way to verify that you have administrator privileges is to right click on "start".  If you have administrator privileges, one of the options that are displayed will be "Open All Users".

Your symptoms are typical of a corrupted profile.  When you try to open a session and Windows detects that the user profile is corrupted, it creates a temporary user again, profile and use it for this session.  When you disconnect, the temporary profile goes away and the next time you connect, you get an entirely new temporary profile that resembles the standard first time login screen.  You'll probably notice that it's only a problem for a single user.  Other users will not have this problem.  To fix, simply follow one of the following procedures:

Since you are on a domain, the fastest way to recover is to restore your registry (including your profile) from a backup by using the system restore.  We assume that it is a new problem and a restore point is at the time when it wasn't a problem.

"Windows XP problems if your profile is corrupted"

If this does not work or if you do not have the necessary restore points, follow one of the following procedures.  Since you are on a domain, you may need to do this twice - once to copy your profile to a local user profile, and then delete your corrupt domain profile, and then re - create your connection of field profile and copy the data back.

  • Why this update changed my desktop settings

    Hello

Can you describe exactly what has happened to the desktop settings?

If it is something that is easily repairable, I would recommend that.

If you can not solve the problem, use the system restore point that was created before you install the update to return the system to the State of prior update.

    Restore system files and settings

If you encounter this type of problem with updates, you must take control.

    Open Windows Update.

In the left menu, select change settings.

Under important updates, select the updates but let me choose whether to download and install them option.

With this option, you will be informed when new updates are available and you can get the updates you want to download and install.

If you want to not be notified of a special update again once, when you see update to the update on the list, right click and select hide update .

If syncing still works on Android devices so there is no need to generate a new key for synchronization and you shouldn't have a problem the pair from the desktop with one of Android devices via the pairing code 12 characters. Use the pairing code 12 characters is not expected to enter a key for synchronization, as these data will be recovered from the Android where you enter this code on the desktop. That's why the two devices must be online at the same time. Note that the synchronization code is a code of 26 characters and therefore is much longer than the code pairing 12 characters.

  • Reset the default settings of the desktop folder

I wanted to change the location of my personal (user) of the C: drive to another. By mistake, I gave the location of the desktop as D:\ folder. The result was not to my liking (instead of the desktop folder, I saw the folder on the drive (same icon and the bar blue % used).) I tried to change the settings in the registry, which was advised by another site. They told me to make the following changes:

    "

To do this, go to start > run, type "regedit" and get the keys listed below. You can create a string value extensible "Desktop" in the "User Shell Folders" key, if this value does not exist.

Now, double-click the name of the "Desktop" under "Shell Folders" and "User Shell Folders" respectively, to set a new path in their fields in the value data for your 'Office' folder

    Registry entries:

    • 1 registry entry:
      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER dossiers\]
      Key type: the current user
      Value name: Desktop
      Data type: REG_SZ (String Value)
      Value Enabled:
      Disabled value:
Another value: set the new path to the desktop folder.
    • 2 registry entry:
      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\]
      Key type: the current user
      Value name: Desktop
Data type: REG_EXPAND_SZ (expandable string value)
      Value Enabled:
      Disabled value:
Another value: set the new path to the desktop folder.

    "

I did, and she is back to normal. However, the desktop in the user directory folder is hidden , even if I put the path by default (the check box for the hidden option is grayed out). Also, the default icon for the Office changed default folder icon.

I want the desktop folder as it is. How can I do this?

Note: This was done in the administrator account.

I solved the problem of "hidden folder" by changing the attributes of the desktop folder. He was set to RHSD, I changed it to RD, remove hidden and system attributes, by using the command "attrib".

However, there is NO "desktop.ini" file in the desktop folder, or it is hidden so that I can't see it in the 7-Zip file manager. Does that create a problem? How can I do this? As far as I know, is that it is [.] ShellClassInfo] wrote the top of the page and there are two other elements, namely LocalizedResourceName and IconResource. What should I write in these two?

    Do help.

  • presentation settings pop-up automatically - disapper of the icons on the desktop!

I'm having a problem with the icons on the desktop.  Whenever I start my computer, or disconnect or plug when turned on, the desktop icons disappear, and the program of 'presentation settings' will appear.  The desktop icons disappear.  I right click on the desktop, select display and the "show desktop icons" is selected.  I deselect, then right click, display, show the desktop icons to show.  It becomes really annoying!  I do every time I turn on the computer, unplug the unit while it is on or plug it in.  Each time, the 'presentation settings' lights.  When I use the "Mobility Center" to turn off presentation settings, he points out that they are turned off and does not respond when I try to 'works '.  I have the presentation settings icon right click and stop the presentation.

How can I make this frustrating problem annoyingly go away?

Thank you Mick but you have totally misunderstood the nature of my problem.  I understand how to transform a computer market properly.

My point was that, once the computer is turned on, the presentation settings pop-up and the desktop icons disappear.  In order to get them to show, I have to then do a right-click on the desktop, select view - the "show desktop icons" is selected, but the icons are not - so I have to deselect "show desktop icons"; so, I have to repeat the whole process, this time by selecting "Show desktop icons" until the icons will be displayed.  IF I unplug the computer while it is on, the presentation automatically pop settings - up, the desktop icons disappear and I have to repeat the process.  IF the computer is already unplugged and turned on, and I plug it in, presentation pop up settings and the desktop icons disappear, and I have to repeat the process.  He became EXTREMELY frustrating - it's why I screamed for help...

Anyway, I solved the problem I hope - for some reason any my power settings swiched to profile 'Quiet Office'; When I switched it to the profile "Entertainment", the problem seems to have resolved itself!

Understanding saved views and navigation records
In Windows 2000 Professional, the view you use is not always permanently saved in Windows Explorer. You can control if the views that you use are stored permanently or temporarily, to help to memorize check box of each folder view settings tab display of the dialog box folder Options (see figure 9.3).

By default the Remember each folder view settings is enabled. When you choose to leave this setting is enabled, the following occurs:

changes that you make to the folder view are saved automatically when you close the file.
    b. the display allows you to display a folder is not applied to other folders.
    c. When you open a folder, it opens in the view that you used when you last time there.
When you clear the checkbox for don't forget to display settings for each folder, the following occurs:

    a. When you start Windows Explorer, the first folder that you discover poster in saved view of the folder. Explorer Windows holds who discovers in the temporary memory and applies it to all the files that you have visited while Windows Explorer is open, unless you manually change the view.
    b. as you navigate to other folders (after having opened the original record), the view saved for each folder is ignored, and when you exit Windows Explorer, the folder view that you used to display multiple records is cleared from the temporary memory.
    c. the next time you open Windows Explorer, once more, the saved view of the first folder that you open that determines how you display multiple records.
Setting all folders on the same point of view

Some users want to have all their Windows Explorer folders defined on the same point of view. In Windows 2000 Professional, the default is that any changes to the view of the file is automatically saved when you close the file and are not applied to other folders. However, you can set all folders to the same view by using the Folder Options command, as described in the following procedure.

To set all the folders on the same point of view
    1. in my computer or Windows Explorer, set the display according to your preferences.
    2. in the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    3. in the Folder Options dialog box, click the view tab.
    4. under folder views, click on like current folder.
Important remember view settings check box each folder under the view tab of the Options dialog box of records (see Figure 9.3) affects how the display settings for individual records are applied and saved. For more information on the impact to disable this check box, see "Understanding saved views and navigation files" earlier in this chapter.
