Why this update changed my desktop settings

why he's not kidding with my desktop settings

Hello

Can you describe exactly what has happened to the desktop settings?

If it is something that is easily repairable, I would recommend that.

If you can not solve the problem, use the system restore point that was created before you install the update to return the system to the State of prior update.

Restore system files and settings

If you encounter this type of problem with updates, you must take control.

Open Windows Update.

In the left menu, select change settings.

Under important updates, select the updates but let me choose whether to download and install them option.

With this option, you will be informed when new updates are available and you can get the updates you want to download and install.

If you want to not be notified of a special update again once, when you see update to the update on the list, right click and select hide update .

    Maybe the disc has been formatted as part of your original installation of Windows XP with a pre - SP1 version of Windows.  At that point, he could only format the drive as 137 GB.  After you upgrade to a post-SP1 version of Windows, look at your hard drive with Disk Manager (start-> Run-> "diskmgmt.msc").  It can show the rest of your unused space that you might then be able to allocate in a second partition.

    If you want to keep one big partition, you will need to get a 3rd third party tool that can extend your current 137 GB partition to use more of the available space.  Google for it, plenty of them out there including those that are free.

  • Why this update needs suddenly an index partitioned locally to run fast?

    Dear,

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
    AMT for Solaris: release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

    I would like to understand the following situation.

    I have a partitioned table defined as range
    part_tab (id, dat, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i)
    This table is partitioned on dat range and has a primary key on (b, id, dat) covered by a unique index of the tree b (b, id, dat). The PK column order is not the same as in the definition of the table!
    This table is filled every day by a night of employment (140,000 new records inserted every day) and also updated (800,000 updated records) as follows

    for x in (select id, dat, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i
    distant_tab say - simple heap table having a PK (id, dat, b) and accessible through a dblink
    where dis.dat between trunc (sysdate-7) and trunc (sysdate - 1).
    )
    loop
    Update part_tab loc
    set
    Loc.c = dis.c
    loc.d = dis.d,
    loc.e = dis.e,
    loc.f = dis.f,
    loc.g = dis.g,
    loc.h = dis.h,
    loc.i = dis.i,
    where
    Loc.b = dis.b
    and loc.id = dis.id
    and loc.dat = dis.dat
    end loop;

    commit;

    This update took 40 minutes to finish in PRODUCTION for more than 3 months.

    Last week the distant_tab has been purged and went from 12.000.000 records to 1,000,000 records.
    But the update is still almost a fixed number of records to be updated (800,000 records). Statistics on a remote table has also been updated and the updated runtime remains almost the same (40 minutes).

    Unfortunately, one day, this update started taking 3 hours to complete. So it has been for 3 days until we have created a unique partitioned index local (dat, id, b) on part_tab which
    did the update runing on less than 10 minutes.

    Unique consistency, that I can do with this suddenly high time update is that it starts happening immediately in the distant aftermath of the table
    distant_tab has been shrinked (offline) to set the high-water line. Maybe it has nothing to do with this 3 hours run time but it is worth mentioning.

    So my question is:

    Why this update, which took 40 minutes for more than 3 months, it must now have an index partitioned locally rather than the index b-tree in 10 minutes, otherwise it will take 3 hours?

  • RH 9 - Why does HR change my ssl settings?

    I am using HR 9.0.2.271.

    Background: We have a system of aid (about 2200 topics) that we have to generate in a PDF by chapter. We must also do it in various target languages also well once that get back us them to our localization Department. So I created a SSL by chapter in our English project (38 total), each SSL is configured to generate a single PDF file:

    The idea is to use batch HR generate, and have all the 38 PDFs get generated. We then them bundling up in a zip and give to our customers. It works very well in English. We sent our English HR project for localization and translators have translated the files needed.

    On SSL and printdoclayout.xml files: I looked in the SSL files in a text editor and SSL files for output printed do not themselves specify what is sent to the .doc or .pdf format. Instead, when you create the SSL, HR also creates a single xml file with the name printdoclayout (n) .xml, where n is a number that increments for each additional printable SSL you have and the SSL contains a reference to use this XML code. The printdoclayout.xml actually contains the chapter structure which is sent to the print output:

    In the < tocstructure > element, it contains the hierarchy of what to export. (Note Although she < chapter > and < page > elements, those are not suitable because they are references to the topics really just with < chapter > for a style entry book containing a subheadings.) The important thing is that, in this example, the XML corresponds to what I have in the layout of the chapter of the specified Print Document content dialog box list above:

    How we work with localized files:  Send us all of the HR project for translators. They give us back the necessary files (.htm, .hhc and .hhk and so on). This time we also asked to translate the name attributes in each of the chapters <>and < page > element for each file in printdoclayout.xml, because HR draws from these channels during the generation of printable output, and we didn't want to shoot him in the English channel since the original XML files. When we return the file of our localization Department, we make a copy of the HR project English which has been located and we use as a base. We then copy the files they send us back inside, crushing what is in English. We then change the HR project settings to match the target language. Then we generate the desired output.

    The problem: Now we get localized projects supports, but when we try generating outputs printable localized project HR, HR respect is more what I initially defined in the SSL/xmls 38. Instead of trying to get out a single chapter by SSL, he's trying all THE chapters of each SSL output. For example, notice what happens when I open the same layout in Chinese localized. (Notice the blue highlight on the left side of the dialog box Print Document content , showing that ALL chapters are now somehow selected.)

    I don't understand why you just open the SSL requires to select ALL topics for the generation, especially when the underlying (localized) .xml file still shows the correct chapter of output as shown here:

    It seems that there is another setting file or maybe just a bug that says to enter all the chapters and topics. In fact, it seems that all SSL is practically destroyed. My layout of the section and the style settings have to be remade as well.

    In any case, the workaround I came up with, that he must go back in each layout (38 of them) in each target language and select again the relevant chapter in the layout (as well as difficulty settings of layout and style). It's a tedious manual fix and source of errors, as well as some target, as Chinese languages where I can't read the characters and could easily get lost and choose the wrong chapter.

    Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    I think I found the problem. Xml files of printdoclayout we had their return of location have been formatted slightly differently than the English original

    The English version had line breaks, like this during his first three lines:

    The localized version has not. It was on a line like this (you will notice that there is the encoding of additional attributes = attribute too):

    When I copied and pasted the first three lines of the English at the top of this first line in localized .xml files, it worked! Everything is good now. I just need to work with our location service to ensure that it receives to formatting again.

  • Why this update is not available?

    My Apple TV 3rd generation shows that I have the software 6.2.1

    On the software update (hope for 7.2.1) running I get a "no update available".

    Hello

    I recently installed updates for Windows Vista on my laptop. I stopped him and turned on the next day to find the Start button, toolbar and all windows look as if they have a style of windows 98 for them.

    It was also a message about accounts how temporary can not be used, and as an administrator, I have the right to see the windows service center. I clicked on the message and nothing happened.

    There's a screenshot provided!

  • Why my desktop settings are changed at the next logon?

    I'm on a domain.  Our use of Office XP SP3 PC.  My phone has recently been reinstalled with the same OS.  I'm supposed to have some local privileges on my laptop, but I don't know how to check this.

    My network administrator says we do not have a group policy that forces the desktop settings default to the XP defaults during the connection, however, is what happens whenever I had to log on to my laptop using the domain credentials.  Someone at - it suggestions?

    Thank you

    The quick way to verify that you have administrator privileges is to right click on "start".  If you have administrator privileges, one of the options that are displayed will be "Open All Users".

    Your symptoms are typical of a corrupted profile.  When you try to open a session and Windows detects that the user profile is corrupted, it creates a temporary user again, profile and use it for this session.  When you disconnect, the temporary profile goes away and the next time you connect, you get an entirely new temporary profile that resembles the standard first time login screen.  You'll probably notice that it's only a problem for a single user.  Other users will not have this problem.  To fix, simply follow one of the following procedures:

    Since you are on a domain, the fastest way to recover is to restore your registry (including your profile) from a backup by using the system restore.  We assume that it is a new problem and a restore point is at the time when it wasn't a problem.

    "Windows XP problems if your profile is corrupted"
      <>http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326688 >

    If this does not work or if you do not have the necessary restore points, follow one of the following procedures.  Since you are on a domain, you may need to do this twice - once to copy your profile to a local user profile, and then delete your corrupt domain profile, and then re - create your connection of field profile and copy the data back.

  • Why change my desktop and delete my Vista files?

    Original title: Why Vista change my desktop and delete my files?  I have to do a system restore to get back everything.  How to stop the changes occur?

    These changes occur too often, and I don't know how to stop them.  A system restore works, but I'm the only person who knows enough to make one - don't know other people who use this computer on system restore.  What should I do to keep my current settings and files intact?
    Thank you.

    Hi Rhonda,

    1. What do you mean when you say that the desktop is changed and delete my files?

    2. what files are deleted?

    3. the question occurs in other accounts of users also?

    4. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

    Typically an installation of a program or a driver can cause an unexpected change to your computer or put Windows behaves in unpredictable ways. This can be corrected when you perform a system restore.

    Step 1:

    You can check if the problem occurs in safe mode.

    Start your computer in safe mode

    Step 2:

    If you are able to boot into safe mode without any problem, you can try to perform a clean boot and check if the problem occurs in normal mode.

    A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

    You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Hello

    1. do you mean to say that Windows update fails to install the KB2481109 update? If you receive an error message and then, after return the exact error message.

    2. you have the latest service pack installed?

    The following article can help you.

    How to troubleshoot common Windows Update, Microsoft Update and Windows Server Update Services installation

    For more information about the update: MS11-017: Description of the update of the Remote Desktop client 6.0 and 6.1 remote desktop client security: 8 March 2011

  • When I turn on my computer, I get a bubble in the lower right of the desktop that says: "a program has been blocked from editing your search default setting". Then "click to change your notification settings."

    Whenever I turn on my computer I have a bubble in the lower right corner of the desktop that says: 'Search Settings Notification' then 'program has been blocked from modifying your search default setting". Then "click to change your notification settings."
    When I click I get a box called Toolbar Options. Tab shows the search parameters. Statement: "search settings protects your search settings of the browser to keep the programs change without your knowledge." I am then presented with 2 boxes checked with the following instructions: 1. protect my browser default search and let know me of any attempt to change it.  2. enable the browser error Network Wizard page.  Downstairs, the options are either save or cancel.
    My question is what does all this mean? Should I uncheck boxes or both? How can I avoid this message occurs ever time I turn on PC?
    I must tell you that my browser is Mozilla Firefox.
    Thank you.

    Hello

    I would check the first box for sure, the second is not as important but probably a good idea to choose from as well. Once you save it, it should not appear again.

    How can I get Microsoft updates in windows update. I don't have this option available in the settings? TIA

    Yes other MS is installed, I updated them. I stupidly reinstalled Win7 and unchecked ticks for all updates of MS. I reinstalled agent but no joy.

    Attaches with a registry change.

    Not happy with the version 29.0.1 - are there plans for this move?

    Hi RickAce

    Could you please start a new thread for your question?

    You can provide more information such as your operating system and installed extensions and plugins installed.

    In case of accidents also please add a few recent crash ID that you can find on the subject: page hangs and which begin with a prefix 'bp '.

    You can check for problems with the files that store the preferences.

    Delete a possible user.js file and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.
