  I get a flag at the bottom right of the desktop view saying that Windows Security Center is not enabled. But whenever I click "Activate Windows Security Center service", it says: "cannot start the Windows Security Center service."   This problem may occur if the Security Center service is not configured to run under the Local Service account, but the dependent services are configured to run under the Local Service account.

  Note: The following can be used for Windows Vista and Windows 7.

  Method 1: To resolve this problem, make sure that the Security Center Service and all its dependencies are configured to run under the Local Service account. Set the center of security and its dependencies services to run under the Local Service account.

  Click Start, click Run, type "services.msc". Scroll down and double-click Security Center. Set starts off in automatic. Click on 'start. Restart your computer and check if it is running.

  • Manually launch the .exe

  Right click and "run as Administrator" on C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe

  • Registry

  Look for the value DisableAntiSpyware at:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender and delete who appreciate, but make a backup first.
