Cannot apply changes in media in Windows Media Player

original title: Windows Media Player

Problems with WMP12 is not able to apply changes to the media.  Were removed from the database, run the fix it tool, reset and uninstalled WMP and reinstalled and still...  Now the files will not stop to date.  Only, this has started to happen a couple of weeks on two new laptops, I bought (from different providers) with Windows 7 64 bit.  I am at a loss, as I have tried almost all the suggestions so far.  Someone else has experienced this problem and managed to resolve it?

  • Satellite U205-S5002: cannot retrieve the Express Media Player after upgrading the HARD drive

So I bought just a new Toshiba Satellite U205-S5002 I love it. One of the great features that interest me was the Express Media Player feature.

My first step was to upgrade the hard disk and 160 GB and 2 GB ram.
I placed the disk and ram in my old laptop and sold it.

Before that I did, I made a copy ghosts and ghost of the hard drive to the new drive. Well come to find out...

Toshiba is not provided with this software preinstalled, so I followed the instructions to burn my recovery disk Express Media Player and the boot on the new disk.
So this is where the saga begins...

After 15-20 seconds, I get a soothing blue screen (NOT of blue BSOD you mind) who says:

    /!\
An error occurred during the recovery of "Express Media Player".
    -------------------------------------------------------
Please pick up the image again from the beginning.
    Press any key to exit.

It is typed exactly as it is on the screen. So, I see some other forums saying: you must have the free space of the disk so I resize the partition that allows 200 MB of space. Always the same... then try 2 GB even... then the 50 GB, same problem...

OK, so obviously not a question of space. I read while I might need to erase the drive... so I delete the partition, this same error... then I run the recovery disk and tell him to wipe the drive, wait 1 1/2 hour, it ends. No dice! So I decide... ok... Well lets try another disk... I have restored my ghost image... and burned the image again... same question... so I decide to the recovery disk and I'll try to reinstall windows in the factory and make a record...

Well, it does not work as well as you think... the image is incomplete... windows works fine... but the c:\Toshiba\ExpressMediaPlayer folder is empty!

I'm happy that I have ghosts my original directory. But I decide allows to Express Media Player a shot more now that I have restored to factory... always the same error... I then decide a trial more... I'll erase drive 1.5 hours, I'll restore from toshiba dvd provided but leaving plenty of space at the end 2 GB (I have a lot about people who tell you to base just around 200 MB)

5 hours later... moment of truth... Well Yes you guessed it... I don't know anything else to try... I have a bad image?
You need one that I can download what has worked for them for sure? Or have - I have completely found myself by replacing the HDD with after market and which is originally a kind of compatibility issue?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

    It s a great story!
I put t know how to start so maybe first some info on the Express media player.

As you said, and has already proposed the Express media player has been preinstalled on the second partition.
If you want to install this media Express on the HARD disk drive, 150-200 MB of free space must be available. This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated.
To get these free space on the HARD disk, 3 third-party products should be used as for example the Partitions Magic 8!

I'm not going to write a story how to recover the Express media player because Toshiba has already created useful documents, which described complete installation!
I found these documents in the knowledge base of computer Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=TIC2

    Hi Point Mercer,

    1. were you able to read CDs via WMP before?

    2. are you face issues only with audio CDs?

    3. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

You can try to let flow the Fixit and see if it helps:

  • Changing music Info after this problem by Windows Media Player

I 'Open file location' and go to 'Properties' correct/update the information of the song, but as soon as I do, changes to Media Player it again at all what he wants and adds random other songs from the same album and change number and track cover art. This problem is even worse trying to organize the songs on the mix CD. I went in 'Options' to change to "Substitute information" to "Only the missing information" and she always does.

    Hi KaylaPatterson,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums!

I understand that Windows Media Player will not change the information of music even after update in the location of the main file.

I'll be more than happy to help you and guide you in the right direction.

To avoid this, I suggest you to check out the methods and check if it helps. You can try to clear the Windows Media Player database and check if it helps.

To do this, follow these steps:

    Step 1

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. for Windows 7: click Start, run, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click on OK.

    3. Select all the files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Step 2

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. If you are running Windows 7, click Start, run, % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

3 select the folder Media Player, and then click delete on the file menu.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Also note before performing the steps above, I suggest to save the songs and try the steps above.

    Let us know the results.

Let us know if you encounter problems under windows in the future. We will be happy to help you.

  • Windows Media Player how to save playlists m3u video on computer

I LOVE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER FOR A REASON, SINCE CAN (PREVIEW & PLAY) ALL MY VIDEOS IN WINDOWS 7 PC AND LAPTOP EXPLORER DIRECTLY, CANNOT FIND ANOTHER DRIVE MEDIA PLAYER THAT CAN DO THIS, THAT FACILITATES THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A LARGE NUMBER OF CUSTOM VIDEO PLAYLISTS.

1 BUT STILL CAN'T FIND OUT WAY TO SAVE M3U PLAYLISTS IN WMP TO COMPUTER FILE OR AN EXT DRIVE SO CAN PLAY ON WD DIGITAL STREAMER ETC.?

    2. IN ADDITION, CANNOT YET KNOW WHAT WMP VERSION I, THE MS HELP PAGE INSTRUCTIONS TO HIT THE ALT KEY AND THE KEY H, NOT ME WATCH NOT ON VERSION ETC FOR SOME REASON ANY?

    3. FINALLY, IN ANY CASE TO HAVE WMP DISPLAY THAT DUPLICATE FILES OF VERY LARGE SELECTIONS IN WMP AS IN OTHER PLAYERS?

IN OTHER READERS MULTIMEDIA ALL OF THESE OPTIONS ARE VERY EASY TO UNDERSTAND, BUT TRYING TO CONFIRM IF THESE OPTIONS ARE STILL AVAILABLE IN EACH WM PLAYER, OR WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER? IF NOT WHY?

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP, AND SORRY FOR THE CAPS, WAS IN THE PRESS OF TYPE DID NOT YET TOO LATE. Thank you!!!

Thanks for the reply Andrew, I could find on finally on my own how to record at least my playlists on disc ext menu options list, Phew!

    By Andrew

The higher WMP classic view, R.click as its top icon to the left of the task bar.

(I right click on all WMP icons, not found any option to select Classic Menu etc.)

    By Andrew,.

Once through, locate the Tools tab, options, all settings appear in a new window.

You can specify where you want the stored files, other HDs are ok to store media.

(Only option I could find was in burning CDs or audio, no video, see nothing that says Tools menu etc?) Unless it's just a term used)

    By Andrew,.

Regarding the release, seek HELP, under the Tools tab, select this option, for about

In addition, in HELP, you can select 'online' help, gets you the WMP data

(I've looked everywhere on WMP, in and through the help screens, even online, I have found no opportunity to tell me what version I have or if a version update better etc was available for my Win 7 PC) Not sure if I'm in an old outdated version or something, where I can't see what kind of things etc.?

Even WMP version that came with my PC rebuilt Win 7 so.

As mentioned, until recently I've always stayed away from WMP because has always been too hard to navigate common options like that compared to other players like VLC, etc, where all the elements above have never been a problem, but I need to video option Preview of WMP, I guess that WMP isn't always as friendly so will need to understand more.

I always try also confirm is there a way in WMP to display only, all files duplicate in the largest playlists etc? Thanks for the help!

  • Photos of transfer with Media Player

I have Media Player V.11 on my computer and use it to transfer photos from my wireless photo frame. He worked until I updated the computer. I got a new system but used the existing hard drive, so nothing has changed. The problem is that the photo frame connected to the wireless router but does not see the computer and cannot receive pictures of media player. I have worked with Kodak to work on the problem and now they tell me that the problem is with the media player and DRM may not work because I changed the hardware.

Their solution at this time is to use another software that they say that they are not supported.

It seems to me that requires software simple put in question, but stopping the firewall and antivirus software did not help.

The problem with the media player is not to love the new material and what would be the difficulty for her?

    Thanks Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

We don't think that there is a problem with Windows Media Player. It seems that the frame is not detected on the computer. We recommend you to follow the steps in the following article and check if the device is detected on the computer:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883258
