  use lightroom 4.3...  import photos, they are displayed in a random order in the window of IMPORT.  With previous versions of lightroom, they were always in order of file name.  It becomes much more time to select files to import into a file, if there are 2 or more jobs on a CF card (I have pictures of my kids skiing mixed with a portrait session.).  Is there a way to sort photos (by name of file, or time) before importing?  I don't know how to sort after import.

• Lightroom 5.0 does not automatically open the import dialog box when the inserted memory card

  Lightroom 5.0 fails to detect the memory card and import dialog box open. It has always worked well in Lightroom 2, 3 and 4.  Same cards, same camera, same iMac using OSX 10.8.4. Manual import works OK, the card is detected fine.

  Thank you very much, this TOTALLY WORKED for me.  Win 10, LR 5.7.1.  An inserted SD card of Nikon D7000 in the SD card reader built-in to laptop and Windows automatically started both Lightroom AND automatically went straight into LR import feature.  Perfect.

  (However, if LR is already running, insert the card SD initiates not import feature, despite having turned on the required checkbox in the preferences.)  Nevertheless, it is progress!   :-)

  I am a new user of lightroom on Lightroom 4.2.  When I import pictures from my SD card I usually leave copies on the map for a while so I have as a backup and also be able to see recent photos on my camera.  However whenever I go to import this card images in LR, it is by default by selecting all the photos on my SD card, even though I have selected at the top of the box to import "News photo" filter.   He always puts all my photos in the "New Photos" section, so I deselect all photos I have already imported in my catalog so I don't get duplicates.  How LR to only import photos that have not been imported bfore?

  I am aware of the option "Don't Import suspected duplicates", but this isn't the samea like what I'm looking for.   It deselects only photos that still exist in my catalog.   All the pictures I deleted my catalog are selected in the import box, as he sees no duplicates.

  Don't know how to explain it:

  "All Photos" will show all images on the card or in the or the selected files, regardless of their "new" or "existing" status. With "Don't Import suspected duplicates" checked, the unselectable 'existing' images, all others will be selected by default. With this option disabled, all images are selectable.

  When 'Don't Import suspected double' is checked 'News Photos' show only the images that Lightroom has no current knowledge. And as we have already said, Lightroom keeps no knowledge of a picture already imported and subsequently removed... so all these files will be considered as 'new '. When 'Don't Import suspected double' is unchecked, each image on the card/folder will be considered to be 'new' and in this context, there is zero difference between "All the Photos" and "New pictures".

  I understand that your wait is that Lightroom will be remember that you previously imported, and deleted an image and therefore do not show it as 'new' again... but this isn't how it works.

• I want to move the bookmarks to a no start Win disk (format jspn) to win 10 PC. The import dialog box wants html, not json format

I can find the Archives of bookmark on the old disk - files are in json format, but when I try to import the bookmarks file I can only find a way to import them into html format.   I'm on an iMac 2009 27 inches with 8 GB of ram and Capitan was last updated.

  Ive had this problem before. I open Lightroom, insert a card, go to import and BAM - death beach ball. Forever.

  I actually contact them direct support of remote desktop a few weeks ago, and they changed my permissions. Maybe they got changed back incorrectly?

  Now, it's even worse than before. My browser, Google Chrome, was essentially brick for a while.

  It is not LR. It's your Mac. LR doesn't have a rotation beach ball. Apple Mac OS X has a rotation beach ball when the system is more taxed. This is the sign "WAIT I am Doing Something Else".

  Yes check what else is running on your system and shut it down. Check the heat of your Mac, blow out the dust. Check the integrity of the HARD disk, it might be failing.

• Move Greyed out in the import dialog box

  Hi all.  When you import files from a card compact flash (Windows 7, Lightroom 3 final) my option 'move' is grayed out, and so I can't copy or add the files during import.  I want to move so they are removed from my CF card after import, so it's very frustrating.  Any help much appreciated.

  This is normal. The copy of the files on the card to your computer has a relatively high probability of data corruption. If files are deleted from your card until you go account that they did not have it in one piece, you have lost the.

  Synchronize folders only works if I 'See the import dialog box before importing' checked elsenever locates all the new files.

• Import dialog box no longer displays the files (not even those on the hard drive)

  I take pictures with a D70 (canon) and I imported the always without problems. After that an update or installation of an external program from the import dialog box shows not more photos. It is a black screen. The files can be read the navigation and are regularly cr2 (raw files). What can I do? There are 149 files on the card and not displayed, see below

• Import dialog box appears not all readers

  For some reason any two drives my not appear as places of import from the import dialog box. They appear in the browser on the left in the library and the develop Module. I edit on the ssd and then move it to the other drive in Lr, so it's not slow my workflow, but only a strange problem.

  Someone at - he heard of this? Someone said it could be the drive letter (b), I'll change it as soon as I return to my office. Any other ideas?

  

  

  HI JMGant,

  You can see the disks in the dialog import if you "choose a Source:" at the same to of the left panel? That should give you access to these drives even if they are not displayed in the Panel.

  Did I miss something in the import dialog box new version 6.2? In previous versions of Lightroom, there was a possibility to perform a backup copy, or the second, imported files. If this function is gone, or I'm looking in the wrong places?

  I just upgraded to 5 Lightroom in Lightroom 3, and the import dialog box will not open. I can select file-> Import Photos and videos... and the menu option flashes as he was selected, but nothing else happens. Any ideas? I'm on OS X Mavericks.

  I figured this out. Based on the below stack trace it seems that Lightroom has tried and failed to create the directory ~ / Movies, and that failure has stopped in the logon dialog box. In my case, ~/Movies is a symbolic link to a directory that lives on an external drive, which was set up in time. I can work around the problem is the disc with my films of editing on it or removing the symbolic link. It is not ideal (I can't quite fit on a disc, and I have other software that really wants movies ~/Movies and not anywhere else) but it works.

  Hello

  In recent weeks I have problems with the import LR5.6 window unable to see all the files of importation on removable card, camera, local drive or network drive. If I drag and drop files from Explorer to lightroom opens the import dialog box, but the screen import empty

  Problems arose initially after update through CC, but I have since tried

  1. new catalog

  2 reinstall 5.6

  3. Uninstall and go back to 5.4

  All this same problem - now reinstalled 5.6 without success and do not think it was a problem to update.

  I'm not aware of any LR option that limits the types of files in the import dialog box

  I'm not aware of other changes I made which changes file etc. - associations there was some automatic updates of windows.

  There is no problem viewing / opening files with Explorer windows or photoshop etc and all of the images currently in my catalog are thin and editable in LR - it's just the import dialog which is empty

  It does not help with workflow!

  Any ideas would be great

  As in the article below, you need to update your Lightroom to the latest version and in your case, you have already done this.

  Did you update to 8.1 Win? If this is not the case, install the update 8.1 Win and try the same.
