Cannot display useraccounts in computer management

Hello

I use win 7 64-bit OS and its works well, but suddenly I couldn't see the user accounts in the computer management and it displays all groups in the groups Panel and the system allows me to create a new user account but I can't watch and I tried with system restore always the same result. Please help me how to solve the problem.

Kind regards

Barra

Hello Barret,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forum of the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are unable to locate users the in the computer management window, but I would have you to answer the following question in order to refine the diagnosis.

  1. What is the edition of Windows 7, you use (for example, Home Basic, Home premium, Professional etc.)?
  2. You get an error message when you click local users and groups in computer management?
  3. Are you able to see the user accounts in the control panel?
[To open user accounts, click the Start button , click Control Panel, click user accounts and family safety, and then click user accounts.]

Also, please check if you are able to see the user accounts of the run window as described below:

  1. Click the Windows key + R.
  2. Type control userpasswords2 , and then click OK.
  3. Go to the Advanced tab.
  4. Under the "advanced users management", click Advanced.
  5. Click users and check if you are able to see the user accounts.

Please provide the information above to provide more help. Alternatively, you can send a screenshot of your problem for clarification.

Thank you.

You must be at Service Pack 3 level before you can use Windows updates.

To determine which service pack is currently installed on your computer, follow these steps:

    1. on start and then click Run.

2 copy and paste, or type the following command, and then click OK:

    winver

A dialog box displays the version of Windows and the service pack that is currently installed on your computer.

It is stated in "How to obtain the latest service pack XP" is.

If you have problems obtaining the service pack from Windows Update, you can download the package of standalone update from the Download Center.

This page will say that this installation package is intended for it professionals and developers. However, you can download this file safely.

The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Download the Windows XP Service Pack 3 package now

FIRST: Uninstall IE8 and IE7 if they are installed. Back to all the way back to IE6. You want other patches before you get those. Reboot after doing this.

You are not the first to ask questions about how to upgrade a clean Windows XP - not even installation in the last week. In fact, I will just cut and paste my answer here... here:

Get SP2 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

    Install it.

Then restart at least a couple of times for a few minutes between each restart.

Get SP3 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

    Install it.

Then restart at least a couple of times for a few minutes between each restart.

Download at least Internet Explorer 7 (if it is not Internet Explorer 8).

    Install it.

    Reset.

Now, try to get the updates through the normal web page (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) and see how much more you can get (100 +) and keep checking until you no longer have.

Back - let everyone know if it worked for you.

  • Computer displays Internet Explore cannot display this Web page?

Computer shows the IE cannot display the page load?  I tried to go to google chrome and an error 310 (too mauger) redirects) help!

This problem only recently begun? You have McAfee? McAfee has been updated at the same time as the last batch of updates from Windows 7 and it seems to be the cause of internet connection problems reported for most, if not all, entry.

See the communication from this "criticism" - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

You should make the fix McAfee, if necessary. There are corresponding communications for their enterprise products.

I had to run the removal of McAfee Development tool a few times before and it caused a problem with the license if the PC was not connected to the internet during the abduction. Due cat of McAfee support reset their files in order to allow the relocation-reactivation. Here is their link cat - McAfee - media contains the link to the cat

I got McAfee, but the connection has started working again on its own so I thought I was clear of problems. However, when I checked it says he was doing routine checks the updates in vain when I told it to do a manually. So stick with McAfee you don't follow their procedure of fix would have upgraded my PC at risk by not updated and, like other McAfee ads have since explained, the application did not refer to its database of threats correctly [and this could explain part of the variability of the symptoms of failure but all involved loss of internet connection]. Actually, I removed McAfee then installed Microsoft Security Essentials rather & my answer IE is faster I knew it [even though I had the Add-ons McAfee disabled for centuries].

    - - - - - - - - - - - - -

If you do not have McAfee then Windows update than kb2705219 can also be a cause as the uninstall that appeared to solve the problem for some users [but I'm not particularly convinced by this]. To uninstall an update - control panel, programs & features, [left side of the window] see installed updates. Wait until the system has finished the research for the list of updates. Select update required, then right click and Uninstall.

  • Computer stuck on error at startup "this program cannot display this webpage".

Original title: Computor stick on error.

When I start my windows xp, it goes through the normal process and goes straight to the "this program cannot display this webpage". Then, it freezes on it. How can I erase this.

    Hello

I'll start by saying that, although I have met exactly the conditions you describe with the PC to one of my clients just yesterday, what may not be your problem.

The problem was my client was caused by the weelsof.c Trojan horse.

Attempts to start in SafeMode only a restart after a few seconds. Isn't the same case for you? Normal boot gave exactly the symptoms you describe.

Somehow, I suggest that you look for the virus. I couldn't do it with the infected PC, so I had to remove the hard drive and a disinfection in another PC. I checked for the virus in turn with MSE, SAS and MBAM. The MSE analysis found and removed two files associated with the Trojan horse weelsof.c. The SAS and MBAM scans showed no malware. After re-installing the drive on the original PC it started as a customer would normally expect and another scan MSE (after leaving it connected to the internet for several hours) was also negative.

If you cannot start in safe mode to scan malware for yourself, my methods may be practical for you, in which case a repair shop is your best bet, ideally one that you can get a recommendation for.

  • Gives Windows Update: Internet Explorer cannot display this webpage

MS Windows XP Home Edition version 2002 SP 3 Norton Internet Security 2010

Start button...  Windows Update... immediately pops up a window of Internet Explorer 8, saying "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."  with a diagnose connection problems button leading to say there is nothing wrong with the connection.  No error code is displayed.

Tried several times over several days.  Not good.  Tried to type the URL in the address field.  Same result.  Tried to access various Microsoft Windows Update web pages from within the Microsoft site.  Same result.  It almost seems as if "windows" & "update" is in the address, it does not connect.  I tried Windows malicious software removal tool.  No solution.  Tried all the Norton Scans.  No solution.  Completely removed Norton.  The same problem.

Windows Update worked until we made an update of Windows in 5/10, date at which we replaced Internet Explorer 6 with IE 8.  Since we cannot get Windows Update.

He could have something in the updates of Windows that blocks access to the updates?  He could have something in IE 8, which blocks access to updates?

Please don't give me the answer 'wipe the hard drive & reinstall Windows '.  It's a typical 'COMPUTING solution' which means 'I don't know what the problem, then that & everything will be fine.'  But in doing so, it will result in DAYS of relocation & configuration of all programs on my PC!  If you don't know the problem, tell (or do not).  If you KNOW what is really causing the problem and have a solution, I would be VERY grateful to hear from you.  Thank you.

I had this problem in my store with several client computers.

Scenario - IE browse websites ok. But when you try to manually run the updates of Windows, internet explore announcement that that the page cannot be displayed. The same also happens with Microsoft Updates.

I read a lot of discussion online, and many people do not yet have a solution.

Here's what I found... and every machine I have dealt with regard to this problem, in the last 4 months, have all had a rootkit virus infecting NETBT. SYS file in windows. Analysis tools more do not seem to pick up well. AVG, Malwarebytes, Norton... I know that these three would not pick it up.

Launch the latest Combofix it cleans well. If there is. And so far, I have managed to solve a good 6 computers by replacing the NETBT. SYS file.

So, if all else fails... check that. ;-)

  • Just as a reference: how to FIX the annoying 'White Screen Of Death"with Silverlight and"Access denied"error with computer management.

Well, I just hope that someone who has met these two mistakes will find my dose. It might save a lot of pointless research on the net.

    SYMPTOMS:
-When you try to open a Silverlight application in your browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc), your browser displays only a white area. When you right click on the white area, you can click on the Silverlight properties.
-If you try to start "Computer management" by clicking on the 'My Computer' icon and select 'Manage', you get the following error: 'access denied '.

    CAUSE:
The following errors are usually the result of a bad environment variable. In this case the "windir" environment variable does not work correctly. You can try running the management of the computer to start > run and entering:
    %windir%\system32\mmc.exe/s %windir%\system32\compmgmt.msc

Notice the between the characters of percentage windir environment variable. If you run the above code, you will probably get an error saying that MMC cannot open the file. Look closely at the path, it's back!
You will probably find any % somewhere.

What actually happened here is the variable windir made reference to another variable: systemroot
Why this creates problems, I'm not sure. Also, I don't understand what made then variable windir change.

    SOLUTION:
-From your desktop or Explorer: right-click on "My computer" and select "Properties".
-Click on the "Advanced" tab and then click "Environment Variables".

    http://pcauthorities.com/images/advanced-system-properties-XP.jpg

-Did the windir variable. Together to "C:\Windows" do not think that it is already set to "C:\Windows", because windows then tells you. Double-click it to know for sure.

    http://www.adminxp.com/windowsvista/envvariabl.PNG

-See, I told you! Change this to "C:\Windows".

    http://www.adminxp.com/windowsvista/editenvvar.PNG

    Hi Jooch,

Thanks for posting such a detailed response, including symptoms, Cause, and resolution to "White Screen Of Death" with Silverlight and "Access denied" error with computer management"issues.

I appreciate your time and effort to do the same. This could help other users of the forum as well.

Original title: cannot use Windows Update to install Windows XP SP3

I have done a complete reinstallation of Windows XP Pro from the original disc and managed to update to SP2.  However, when I tried to upgrade to SP3, I got an error that "the site has encountered a problem and cannot display the page.  I tried all the suggested fixes that I can find.

During the last attempt, I discovered that several dll is missing.  Here's the msxml6.dll, wups2.dll, c:\windows\system32\wucltux.dll and c:\windows\system32\wuwebv.dll.  If they are critical, where can I find them, and how do I get support.

In addition, mshtml.dll is available, but the DllRegisterServer could not find an entry point.  Is this critical?

In any case, I still can I install Microsoft Update or download/install SP3.

The computer is an IBM R50e laptop.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Try to run this tool to windows update. This will help to re-register the dll

After its done. try again and do the update

Firefox needs to load the page with the default settings.

You can delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-# .js files and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.

You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.
