Cannot insert rows in a table db to an element of the shuttle
I'm a little puzzled. I created a shuttle element called P18_SELECTED_RESOURCES with the following LOV:SELECT sed.domain||'.'||
sed.target||'.'||
sed.skill||'/'||
sed.skill_prof||' '||
r.first_name||' '||
r.last_name "d",
r.rsrc_id "r"
FROM ri_resource r, ri_skill_supply_eq_demand sed
WHERE r.rsrc_id = sed.rsrc_id
AND sed.work_id = :P18_WORK_ID
It works properly and displays the correct data for: P18_WORK_ID.Then I created a page called SAVE_SHUTTLE_SELECTION triggered by button process called Submit with an action to submit the page. The button is located in the same region of the point of the shuttle. It looks like this:
declare
r_selected APEX_APPLICATION_GLOBAL.VC_ARR2;
begin
-- Convert the colon separated string from the shuttle into the array
r_selected := APEX_UTIL.STRING_TO_TABLE(:P18_SELECTED_RESOURCES);
-- the array should now contain rsrc_ids from the shuttle LOV
-- Now insert those rsrc_ids into the RI_WORK_ASSIGNMENT table with the work_id from P18_WORK_ID
FOR i IN 1..r_selected.count LOOP
insert into RI_WORK_ASSIGNMENT (RSRC_ID, WORK_ID)
values (r_selected(i), :P18_WORK_ID);
END LOOP;
end;
The code executes and returns a success message, but no data is inserted into the table. The shuttle point and P18_WORK_ID are in different regions, but they are on the same page. I even tried to put a *' "commit"; * After the END of LOOP;. I didn't know who would do anything. There can be no. I use APEX 4.1.Thanks for any help.
Hello people of the sea,
I checked your code and the same replicated on my instance.it works fine.
I thought that you didn't want seleceted any value from the left pane of the shuttle.
so first change the value in the left pane to the right pane of the point of the shuttle, then click on submit .it definitely works.
Kind regards
Jitendra

Error when inserting rows into a table
Hello
We have recently migrated to 9i and 10g. We have a scheduled task on our database who first removes all rows from a table and then inserts them back by selecting the lines of 5 tables. This table has a composite primary key based on 6 columns in it. In 9i, when I try to insert rows in the table after you remove all of the lines, I am able to insert the data successfully. However, in 10g, when I try to do the same operation, it fails with error ORA:
ORA-00001: unique constraint violated
The same query that works perfectly in 9i fails in 10g
If anyone has some ideas on how to solve the same, kindly let me know.
Thanks in advance.CrazyAnie wrote:
Okay, so now the only option that remains is that I have load the data into a local table and then perform the loading.May not be the only option, but the safest and cleanest I would say.

Also, it would be very kind of you that you might suggest all other possible risk areas where this CHARSET conversion could be a concern.I imagine that the main areas of concern will be you are interfacing directly with other databases through database links and using string functions. Otherwise, as long as the manipulation of data is in the same database 10g should not be a problem.

I made the migration of my source 9i DB, which is on Solaris to my 10g database which is on Linux and a separate server (which resides in a completely different location) uses exp and IMP. So if I try to export my schema after you change the CHARACTER set and then import it into the target DB, should that help me to get rid of this error? What is an option that can be done?I don't think it would be that simple change your database character set, check out this link for discussions about the same:

Random table and present several elements of the array at the same time
Hi all
I figured out how to randomize an array and present the items where the user can scroll through the items one at a time. However, I would like to know how I could go for the presentation of the elements of a random array at the same time. To be concrete, suppose I have a list of three words that is Word 1 and Word 2 Word 3. For each user, I'm looking for present all three words on the screen at the same time, but in a different order. If a person can see it on the screen:
WORD 1
WORD 3
WORD 2
and someone else could see
WORD 3
WORD 2
WORD 1
Pointers or guides are appreciated. Thanks for reading.
You say that you already know how random the table, so I won't go into that. Assume that you already have 3 TextFields on screen and called tf1, tf2 and tf3. You didn't say if you use Classes or script code. I'm not a big fan of code of script in AS3, so I'm not good at writing of examples in there. The example here assumes that the class code. It also assumes
- You have ' declare stage instances to automatically "off
- TF1, tf2 and tf3 exist in all frames of the timeline of the MC that uses this class.

Table validation - report errors without losing the changes made
Hi all
I'm experimenting with validation of table from Denes Kubicek example at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:41. I had no problems to make this work,
but I need to stop if data loss when the validation rules are not met.
If I have 10 rows in my table and updates user 6 of the latter with the new valid values and 1 with a non valid value then the causes of the button send the error message to be displayed as expected, but the page / table returns to the data in the database and all changes are lost.
How can I get the page to keep entered values when the page is refreshed?
Thank you
MartinMartin,
You may need to replace the validation using JS. Equivalent to Dene JS for example
Put this in the HTML Header page...
Change the 'Submit' button target to URL and type javascript:f_validate(); as URL Target Cheers,Hari Edited by: Hari_639 on Oct 29, 2009 7:07 PM

Thanks for the info, looks like a nice tool will ;) try
but I really want (my problem) in pl/sqlTake a quick re-read my post above.
PL/SQL is a process running on the database server. This process cannot interact with the client computer. He can't ask for user input, and it cannot display the output to the client. Client interface tools can only do. You are eager to get feedback from a user, if you need an interface tool to do. SQL * Plus can interface and application of entry, but only as variable substition, and it does not really provide a programming construct that allows you to run a program in a loop to do. Do this using SQL * Plus you must pair it with shell/dos scripting languages, but more ideally you should use an interface appropriate as Apex.
I was wondering if it all works in pl/sql to release cached data (as fflush (stdin) in c ++)
PL/SQL does not a customer entry, so there is no sense to have something to release the cached data. You pass the values of PL/SQL code using procedures or functions with parameters.

You get it because dims_t is an array of OBJECTS - not a table of scalars. But your SELECT statement returns scalar.
There IS NO such object, named "dimension_id"; It is an ATTRIBUTE of the object DIM_O. DIMENSION_ID is a SCALAR which, as says the exception, is a "No nested table element; If you cannot select/Update lines of it.
What you do is equivalent to the following:
DECLARE
dims_t dim_T;
number of dim_id;
dim_o design;
BEGIN
Design: = dim_o (3, 'ghi');
SELECT DIM_O (DIM_ID, LABEL) BULK COLLECT INTO table DIMS_T (d_o);

This SELECTION is trying to design it as a table when it's a SCALAR - so the same exception you get.

What happens when you insert/modify/delete a row in a table - concepts
I am trying to understand the below concepts regarding the internal concepts (for example, undo and redo)
(1) what is happening in the database when you insert a row in a table?
(2) what is happening in the database when you update a row in a table?
(3) what is happening in the database when you remove one line in the table?
I have read the oracle documentation and mistook the redo and undo behavior. It would be great if someone explains the concept in a simple way. I'm a novice programmer to understand database concepts. Any help would be much appreciated.
INSERTIONS and deletions are handled the same way. The cancellation of an INSERT is a DELETE. The cancellation of a REMOVAL is an INSERT.
Therefore, the generation 'Cancel' for INSERTION is less than that of a DELETION (because the cancellation of a DELETION is to reinsert the line - the value of each column in the row must be captured in the undo).
If restore you an INSERT, then Oracle executes effectively a DELETE tablename WHERE rowid =... rowid_that_was_inserted. A cancellation for an INSERTION is 'rapid '.
If restore you a DELETION, then Oracle executes effectively an INSERT tablename values (col1, col2, coln). The cancellation of a DELETION takes more time because Oracle would have to re-enter the values.
Remember that Oracle also captures the redo to undo it (and do it again for the price drop if you do a restore).

Could not use DB function call to insert a row into a table OBIEE
Hello
At the prompt of the OBIEE report, I create a DB function in a variable column of the guest, so whenever I'm in the dropdown variable ob column call the function DB call.
The function call is insert a row into a table in the database. However, it seems impossible to insert the row into the table.
I have test the function in the sqlplus and it works, if the function has no problem. The problem is OBIEE failed to insert something in the datebase, it can only read from it.
Any ideas on how I could fix it?
Thank you!Hello
Use your Evaluate function and the variable correctly. In the case where u called this function evaluate in the report in a column, and he has 100 files it contains, it will call db 100 times.Kind regards
