Cannot install linux 64-bit

I am running vmware workstation and shows about:

version: 8.0.0 build-471780

Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bits 6.1.7601, Service Pack 1

Yet, I get an error when you try to install linux 64-bit from an iso:

This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit operating systems. However, the 64-bit mode is not possible.

Longmode is disabled for this virtual machine.

For more information, see http://vmware.com/info?id=152.

Continue without 64 bit support?

What am I I am doing wrong and why isn't vmware support workstation showing 64-bit?

    Hello

I had similar problems with my laptop 64-bit Windows 7 & iTunes.  Finally, I have iTunes installed 10.5.1.42, thanks to a friend who has downloaded onto a CD using their Apple laptop.

The installation of thin attempts, where the previous CD was working using the direct download did not, despite trying many options, such as turning off the firewall and virus checkers and using another Manager download (Softonic) instead of iTunes.

Downloaded Softonic iTunes 10.4 despite my 10.5 selection, and despite it, saying he was downloading 10.5.  iTunes installed 10.4 successfully, unfortunately I needed 10.5 to update my iPhone OS.

When I saw the 10.5 iTunes download (downloaded via iTunes), using 7 - zip, the message "broken file" appears next to each file in the screen of 7 - zip.  It seems that the problem was with a corrupted download.

Once I installed iTunes 10.5.1.42 from the CD, I went to update my iPhone OS via iTunes and my computer laptop 64 bit of Windows 7, but guess what... download corrupted file iPhone OS.  If the same friend upgraded my iPhone OS using their Apple laptop.  I then synch had the iPhone with my own laptop.

The OP is using VMware Workstation 6.5.3, and there is no option in the user interface in the virtual machine settings to increase the size of the hard drive in this version and must be done from the command line using vmware-vdiskmanager.

and the type of disc is not the IDE.

Not sure why you would say that as an IDE hard can be extended with a vmware-vdiskmanager or virtual machine settings as appropriate in future versions of VMware Workstation.  I did several times that I can remember.

Retail Windows 7 disks clearly identify 32 and 64 bits on the disk label. Make sure you used the right disk.

Click Start > right click on computer > click Properties

Look under System Type to confirm architecture that you have installed.

If its really 32-bit, download Windows 7 Ultimate, and then perform a custom installation:

  • Cannot install older 32-bit applications on 64-bit Vista...

I have several old applications I wrote VB3 - 6 and you want to install them on my new Dell running Vista 64 bit laptop.

Whenever I try to install one of these older apps, including Visual Basic (studio) 6, I get the following message...
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are using.  "Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x 86 (32-bit) or x 64 (64-bit) version of the program and then contact the software publisher.

As I wrote some of the original applications and I am unable to install VB6, or for other peoples software, it comes to the latest version available.

I tried to change the properties of the exe... tried to change the compatibility to XP SP2 and 98 and changing the Admin box too... no luck so far.

    1 - can I run 32-bit applications on 64-bit Vista?
    2 - If yes how?

    Thank you

You can run most 32-bit applications on 64-bit OS; Anti-virus being a notable exception.

    Try these things:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx

    Windows Vista Compatibility Center

First thing to do is to check its Vista compatibility at the link above, and if not to see what patches/solutions are available from its manufacturer...

If this is not Vista compatible, read the info on the link above.
It works for some programs, but not all.

This applies to software programs, NOT hardware drivers.

If it's Vista compatible > uninstall it > Re-download/save to your desktop > right click on the setup.exe > run as admin.

  • Cannot install the 64-bit guest computer in runing Server ESXi on VMware workstation.

    Help expensive,

I have my doubts with the installation of Microsoft windows server 2008 64 bit in my ESXi server running on WMware workstation. And my physical OS is windows 7 64 bit.

When I created guest computer already and I'm starting to be able to on, the followning of pop-up windows and I say Yes. It can start my .iso file but after he boot, says Windows error.

    And it's the screenshot.

So that means I can't install guest PC 64 bit in my ESXi Server?

    Thank you

    Best regards

nested support 64 bit on ESXi running on top on workstaiton is not supported. you are better off creating this virtual machine as a virtual machine on my computer...

  • Cannot install the 64-bit operating system

I've got ESXi 4.0 installed. I checked the BIOS, and VT/NoExecute has been disabled. So I enabled them.

Still no dice on a 64 bit OS installation.

    Message from EKMEDEVVM2.localdomain: cela

host does not support the VT you have configured

This virtual machine to use a 64-bit host

Operating system.  However, this host is not

capable of running 64-bit or that virtual machines

virtual machine has 64-bit support disabled. For

    more information, see

    http://www.VMware.com/info?id=152

In addition, the console displays the following

    ~ # esxcfg-info | grep HV

    |----HV Support............................................ 0

    | - HV Replay Capable... fake

    | - Reason HV Replay disabled... 1

The server is an HP Proliant 580 3, Intel Xeon 3.00 GHz. From my research, this should be taken in charge, no?

Do I have to re - install ESXi for her to pick up my new settings?

    Thank you!

Everything you have said, it seems to me that the CPU is not capable of VT.

  • Cannot install sqldeveloper 64 bit on windows 7

I am trying to install SQL Developer on windows 7. I unzipped under C:\program Files\sqldeveloper ok
    I run as administrator
He asked the java.exe the path, so I provided it and I get can not find J2SE SDK installed

I searched and found that there are 2 common issues of interest:

    1. the JDK is not 64-bit
    2. the path isn't for the JRE and the JDK

I installed the following 2 files:

    sqldeveloper64 - 3.1.07.42 - no - jre.zip-> 64-bit SQL Developer
    JDK-6u31-windows - x 64 .exe-> JDK 64

So my question is how can I check that I have the right files? Which file is the SQL Dev looking for so I can get it.
How can I re - validate my software (at the time, SQL Dev and JDK) are 64-bit and more name, the installation files.

    Thank you

It seems reasonable to assume, you have good 64-bit versions installed so now it's just a matter of pointing the JDK 64 bit 64-bit SQL Developer.

There are only a couple of things (I hope) you need to check:

    1. check that C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf contains this line: SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_31
    2. check that C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloperW.exe is used to start SQL Developer.

I added (2) since sometimes a pre-existing installation SQL Developer leaves remains a shortcut in the Start Menu. Make sure that you start the version you really want.

    Best wishes
    Gary

  • Linux 32-bit. Abobe plug-in already installed. Always get looks like to your using an older version of Firefox. All talk of 64, I'm Linux 32. Need 2 plug-ins?

For a long time keep saying looks like to your using an older version of Firefox. Several times I tried to install Adobe Flash plug-in, both with Firefox and the Adobe site. I'm on Linux 32-bit, 64 no, details, that I find are for 64 bit.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/759565
I think that the problem might be here, but I do not see the solution for 32 bit. Looks like only maybe 2 plug-ins? Anyway I need help.
It is a problem with all the extra steps with the question you can imagine. I tried from scratch with Firefox, not working, more like 52 card pick up... if you know this game.
I want a solution if you have a. Thank you.

I had the problem solved. Thank you for your help. I had to get help from an engineer, I know. It's fast enough, but it looked like he deleted the old and installed the new and it seemed that perhaps the launch could have the issue? Not exactly, it's almost as if the launch was set for the old version... but don't want to send someone on the cause of the bad way, I don't know, but he later installed to firefox 38.1 or another... the 29. SOLVED. Thank you for taking the time to help. It was frustrating problem.
