Hello Trish 1964,

What is the error message you get when you try to install Norton 2008? You have an older version of Norton installed on your computer?

If so, you must use the Norton removal tool before installing the new version.
http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20080710133834EN&LN=en_US

If you can't always install Norton, you can consider using the free Microsoft Security Essentials. It protects against software viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free * download from Microsoft that is simple to install, easy to use and is automatically updated to protect your PC with the latest technology.
You can download from the following link:

  • Re: Cannot install Visual Studio 2008 on Vista 32-bit

    Hello

I have a satellite P200 with Vista Home premium SP1 and I need to install it on Visual Studio 2008.
When the install wizzard starts it checks the compatibility of the computer and could not return this:

"Setup has detected that this computer does not meet the requirements to install this software. These conditions must be met before you can install Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition - ENU
    Requirements and software prerequisites
Windows XP Service Pack 2 update information
You must install this service pack to complete the installation. Visual Studio requires the installation of this service pack before you install Visual Studio"

So the only solution I have is to exit the installation wizard, so I can not install VS2008

It seems that someone else has the same problem with a Toshiba Satellite also! See http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN-FR/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3392455&SiteID=12
Microsoft product support has apparently no solution and find it strange!

So please help me, I absolutely need of VS2008 to work and I change my laptop only because failed to install VS2008

Thanks a ton in advance for

    Hi mate,

Sorry, but just because one person in a MSDN forum has randomly the same machine you, does not mean that there is a related problem of the machine. Technically in comparing it s absolutely the same material as in an office and so why Don t you contact Microsoft technical support?

It seems that it is certainly unwanted Microsoft and has NOTHING to do with Toshiba hardware or software, so please see MS support sites or give them a call, because it s THEIR software which won´t operate according to THEIR operating system.

    Welcome them

  • Cannot install FSX (DVD - version Standard) in Windows 7

I have windows 7 Home premium (clean install in Nov 2009).  I had no problem running FS2004 (only since the last update Win7 this week).  I just bought FSX on DVD and managed to get the setup.exe to launch, but the installation will stop every time with this error:

1607: unable to install installshield scripting runtime.

I'm stuck!  Thanks for any help.

Hi - I've solved it (when all else has failed).  In one of despair and a hunch, I put the installation DVD in my new DVD burner instead of my older DVD player - and the installation went perfectly!  I don't understand what has happened, that I usually use my older DVD player for CD and DVD installations.

With SP1 and SP2 installed FSX and landscape set to medium-low and graphics put over medium-high heat, I'm of the frame rate of 16-20, which is acceptable.

My system: AMD Athlon 64 3450 + (2.5 x Ghz), 2 GB RAM, Win 7 Home Premium 32-bit. Video card NVIDIA 7600 GT with 225 MB of VRAM.

I'm sorry for bringing up what seems to have been a false alarm inexplicable.  She might have to do with the drivers on the respective DVD player and burner DVD - RW drive.

  • Impossible to install norton 360 online

Original title: cannot install norton 360 online

I recently changed from windows xp to windows 7.  I have norton 360 online through my ISP, but I can not install on my computer.  I'm on dial up, so I got the new drive for windows 7, but whenever I try to install it, the program will start to install, and then after that I selected to accept and install, a message appears saying: there was a problem and the program has stopped working.  Why is this happening?

    Hello

Step 1: Install the clean boot:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/929135

Note: When you perform a clean boot, you temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.

Step 3: Run the hotfix in the following article:

How to solve problems when you install or uninstall programs on a Windows computer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2438651

Step 4: Clean the Temp folder,

    Delete files using disk cleanup

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

Step 3: Install Norton as an administrator

Try right click on the actual Setup.exe and choosing the option 'run as administrator '.

This example may or may not work for you with your program, use the built-in Administrator account to perform the installation.

"It seems that the"Run as Administrator"command gives you administrative privileges only, and they are not enough to install Java (and OpenOffice, by association). To work around this problem, you must actually connect to the built-in administrator.

Open a command prompt with admin rights by clicking Start, type cmd in the search/run box, hit CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. At the prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Then disconnect from your regular account and folder administrator integrated, where you might be able to install the program. When you are finished, open a session to your regular account and, for security reasons, disable the built-in using administrator account:

NET user administrator / active: No.

  • ESXi 3.5 and when trying to install windows server 2008

I installed ESXi 3.5 on my server and successfully created a first virtual computer on which I am trying to install Windows server 2008 standard. I use VMware Infrastructure Client 2.5 from a Vista machine to access my virtual machine console.

Installation of Windows server is an ISO file located in the root directory of the ESX Server data store. Everything went well with the installation until one last server restart showed a screen stating "the password must be changed before logging on the first time' by clicking on 'OK' present a login for 'Administrator' screen, asking me to enter a password for the 'new' and 'Confirm password '.

Any attempt to enter a new password results (up to 14 characters, mixture letter & number) in a message "unable to update the password, the value provided for the new password does not meet the requirements of length, complexity or the history of the area.

As far as I know, I'm not usig a specific domain, have never been able to access Windows server 2008 to create an admin account. I don't know how to solve this problem. I am new to VMWare and Windows server 2008.

Any suggestion to move forward and allow me to have access to the server via the console?

Thanks in advance for your help, Claude

This isn't really a problem with VMware, but more of a problem of Windows 2008 password complexity requirements.

The account that she is not asking that you must change the password is the local administrator account.

And you have tried in upper case, lower case, numbers and special characters?  Something like Win2008!@#$ maybe?

  • Cannot install new Norton 360 download

I bought a Norton 360 3PC.  I uninstalled the Norton 360 has expired and cannot install a new one.  I must not have read the instructions properly because it uninstalled my current Norton but stopped the process.  Now, my DVD player does not work (I tried other CS to check).  The CD says you can load from the internet, but I can't find the download of Norton 360.  I have the product key.

Personally, I would like to request a refund and then get a better product.

  • Cannot get Norton Int Sec 11 install

I uninstalled my old antivirus and I tried to install Norton Internet Security 2011.  It will not install and I get the message ' process cannot continue a system service which can not be installed or may not be started.  Repair your windows installation before continuing. »

After 2 hours online with a Norton tech, I was told my Terminal Server service is not running (I don't know why he is not running, now after 3 years?)  And I need to contact Acer.  Acer told me that they cannot help me because my computer is no longer under warranty.  So, I'm posting here in the hope that someone can help me!  Thank you!

    HiDave1971,

    ·         What security software was previously installed on the computer?

According to the suggestions on the Norton site for this error message.

    http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docURL=20080923103733EN&LN=en_US

Check and make sure that these services are started and set to automatic on the computer.

    ·         Terminal Server services

    ·         Remote procedure (RPC) call service

    (a) click Start type services.msc in the Open text box, and then click OK.

    (b) in the Services (Local) list, right-click service and then click Properties.

    (c) make sure you sure it is started and set to automatic.

If the services have been started not, try to start and try to install Norton software on the computer.

    I hope this helps!
