  • Cannot install vmware player on windows 8 64-bit?

    Hello

    Ashampoo_Snap_2012.12.12_13h32m39s_001_VMware Player Setup.png

I'm trying to install vmware player 8 64-bit Windows, and I still get this problem even if I click Yes or no, nothing happened?

    can someone help me?

    Kind regards

The questions is most likely the character in the temporary path to your username.  Change your folder environment variable a short path (for example, C:\Temp) without special characters, and then try again.

  • Cannot install VMWare Player, workstation or anything like that

All appear to be the same way with a message like:

    VMWare.png

However I've checked that the file exists and that I can access. What is the problem?

I had VMWare Player 6.0.5 and could not install/update VMWare tools. So, I suspended my operating system prompted and rebooted VMPlayer. He told me that there is a new VMWare Workstation something 10.x and I wanted to upgrade to it. Okay, of course. Downloaded the update and tried to install. Said to uninstall VMWare Player 6.0.5. Being suspicious, I went and downloaded VMWPlayer 6.0.5 where he screwed up the installation of Workstation 10.0. Of course, he did. So I tried to install Player 6.0.5 so I could return to my suspended VM. In my opinion, what he said that I could not install because I haven't restarted. So I rebooted. Now, I can't install Player 6.0.5 or Workstation 10.0.0 or whatever it is. They all fail on the same way saying the cannot find a .msi file I can find and access.

    Help!

BTW, you guys have far too much product and names making it confusing. What should I use? Player? Workstation? Spear? vCenter, Fusion. The list goes on and. Do not try to give me the list of "well it's for this reason and this other thing". The point is there are too many products and it is too complicated. If you want to tell me what the structure of the product is just limit it to the product I should use. I have a Windows 7 box and you want to run Ubuntu in a VM desktop - that's all...

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please note that this is a forum for peer support and therefore, it is mainly users of VMware help other VMware users who make up the bulk of this forum. It is VMware employees responding in time in time, but in your case here (Note: VMware employees are recognizable because they have a small 'vm' next to their name logo)

With regard to your current number. If you install VMware Workstation, then you have also installed VMware Player next.

Even after the expiry of VMware Workstation, you can continue to use the free VMware Player.

    Hope this helps,

  • Cannot install VMware Player 6.0.2 when username contains apostrophe

    I tried to install VMware Player 6.0.2 in a Windows 8.1 Professional 64-bit o/s.

I kept getting "Error in Script" (see image below).

After some research, I found the cause of the problem.  This is because the user name contains an apostrophe.  In some countries, it is normal to have an apostrophe in the name, such as Joan of arc.  For the problem of confidentiality, I don't mention the true name in my case, so let's say it's Joan of arc.  In this problem, the path to "index.htm" is

    C:\users\Jeanne d'Arc\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware_xxxxxxx\index.htm

Then I created another user name "Joan of Arc".  I used this new account to run Setup again and I didn't have the 'Script error '.  It is so clear to me that the apostrophe in user name (and therefore in the path of the file) has been the cause of the problem.

    Clipboard01.png

I suspect that this problem can also occur for the installation of VMware Workstation.

As a result of my post:

    This problem happens

    • VMware Player 6 and 7
    • VMware Workstation 10 and 11

    But it is FIXED in

    • VMware (Workstation) 12 player
    • VMware Workstation Pro 12

    Thumbs up!  VMware!

  • Cannot install VMWare Player

I decided to dip my toe in the water and go try VMWare Player, but I seem to have encountered a small problem of EEG. I downloaded the file .bundle (version 5.0.2) and when I try to launch it I get the message Windows cannot open the file and guests for me to find a program to open the file with.

I'm under that Windows 7 Professional 64 bit if that can help.

    Thanks in advance people.

    Hello, welcome to communities

the .bundle is setup for Linux.

You need to download the Windows Installer, which is a .exe

Find it here: download VMware Player 5

And choose VMware Player for Windows 32-bit and 64-bit

    Yes/No

I followed the base article of knowledge advising me to delete my browsing history and cache and try to download again, but nothing changes.

If I click Yes or no installation goes out the window and my laptop computer fan starts but nothing seems to happen. If I try to abandon the installation by clicking the VM taskbar icon, I get a message saying that the installation is ongoing and to wait for it to finish... I waited more than an hour and the closest, I to a facility is an empty folder of VMware in My Documents.

  • Cannot install VMWare Workstation on Windows 7 64 bit

I recently had to completely reinstall the operating system on a Dell Dimension 9200 with 4 GB of ram. There were originally 32-bit Vista installed by Dell. VMWare Workstation has worked well. I upgraded (in place) for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and VMWare continued to work. Recently I had to blow the OS and reinstall. I reinstalled with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and now I can not install VMWare Workstation Version 7.1.1. I also tried an older version with the same problem.

I get the UAC prompt and then after some disk activity I get the Microsoft saying "VMWare Workstation has stopped working" giving options (found nothing) solution, close or debug dialog. I tried without UAC turned and no firewall with the same question.

Any ideas on how I can find this?

    Pete

Because I had to reinstall the OS, I went to 64-bit, because I have a few apps I need to write 64-bit to 64-bit (Server 2008 R2) that applications servers

You can run 32-bit Wokstation.  Still, you can virtualize a VM 64 bit on 32-bit workstation.  So do your apps in the virtual machine.

    Hello

I compared it with mine and there are 2 major differences.

First of all, I use older virtual material (version 4 instead of 7) but I do not expect that this is relevant to this problem. In addition, it makes little sense to use older virtual hardware unless your virtual machine must be compatible with VMware ESX. For example the old version of HW I use excludes the directx features, and you probably want to use.

The other main difference is guestOS, in my version, it has the following value:

    guestOS = "winxppro"

Could you try that and see if it helps?

If this does not help then I'm afraid, we're going to need more details. In this case it might be useful to the vmware.log file loading

One thing you might try must in any case completely re - install VMware tools in removing it first.

In order to do not find themselves trapped by the windows activation logic or other inconveniences while experimenting, I recommend taking a backup of the virtual machine when it is completely stopped before doing anything else.

  • Cannot install VMware Tools on Windows 10

Having trouble installing VMware Tools on a Win10 business VM (vSphere 5.5). Installation lance then anything beyond that never reports. Is there something special that needs to be done to make this work?

    -Thank you

Also have installed the Update Manager plugin that reports the status of inconsistent compliance.

When you install the tools, you choose the Interactive installation or the Automated one?

    Try the Interactive installation instead.

I also have a second comment from Andrew on Firewall/Antivirus possibly block Setup.  Try turning it off.  In addition, you may have to disable UAC.

In addition, you need the 32-bit of Internet Explorer version - Flash Player will not work on the 64-bit version.
