  I then ran the troubleshooting of update again with the same results. Check the updates again. Funny after having spent the whole afternoon doing so he showed that I have ever had checked updates, never installed updates. Two updates that did not are now installed and another two appear as needing installed (KB2903938 & KB2862335) that fails when you try to install.

  My questions - are these necessary updates? Critical? If so how can I get to install them?

  What a pain. I don't even want to install optional updates or upgrade to 8.1 for fear of having to repeat this experience.

  The issue seems to be the corruption of Windows.

  After masking the update sought KB3104002 updates and it found an another KB3100773 same as KB3104002 *. IE 11 updates and it failed. Ran SFC/scannow received the following Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation. Run chkdsk/r, recovering orphaned files. Once finish if it corrects any mistakes, I'll try updates once more, otherwise I will update the PC.

  A ran SFC/scannow results: verification completed 100%. Windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation.  Run chkdsk /r to check the disk for errors and repair

  After performing the chkdsk/r install all updates especially the KB3100773 and the KB3104002 have to do with the Cumulative security for IE 11 updates

  My laptop has been successfully download and installation of updates via Windows Update. However, I'm unable to install SP1 for Windows 7.

  When it fails I get error code 800b0100, Windows that says average help "means that a file needed by Windows Update is corrupted or missing. To remedy this, I downloaded and run the system update readiness tool. However, this problem has not fixed this problem, and I keep getting the same error message. The microsoft site says I have to contact Toshiba for more information, not them.

  I checked the Web sites and the error code means that a file needed by Windows Update is not registered by Windows correctly. You need to download a tool that can fix certain conditions.
