Cannot migrate

HII

I'm unable to migrate from 4.1 to 5.0 using the Update Manager.

Please find the attached photo...

Hello Hello - you're right.

You must first upgrade your server vCenter--> followed by customer (if used)--> vSphere Update Manager--> ESXi hosts--> and finally the hardware upgrade of the VMtools & VM.

Do not forget to save the vCenter & Update Database Manager. And if you run 32-bit windows, you must upgrade to 64-bit OS for vCenter installation 5. I suggest you pass from underneath the white paper at least once before the upgrade:

HTH... do not hesitate to come back if you have any questions...

    Hello

    I am trying to get into one of my hosts esx in maintenance mode but still get the same error, Maintenance Mode 'Enter' is stuck on 2%.

    In the "tasks and events", I see that there is always the same error "Cannot migrate automatically" on the same vm.

    I'm familiar with this error when a CD-ROM is connected or something like that, but this isn't the case.

    When I'm trying manual vmotion this virtual machine and it works fine, without error.

    My vSphere cluster is built from ESX 4 4 U1 servers that are set up to work with DRS and HA.

    DRS recommendation is to close 2 of my servers, so this probably isn't a performance problem.

    Any idea?

    Hello

    Not sure if you are still having this problem, but the most common cause of this is that DRS in not "fully automated" value, so DRS is not able to automatically move virtual machines off the coast of the host to allow it to go to maintenance mode.

    I recommend that if you have the DRS in 'manual' or "partially automated" for a particular reason, then you must manually migrate the virtual machines on the host before trying to place it in maintenance mode.

    Hope this helps

  • Cannot migrate my profile from XP to Windows 7

    I want to migrate my Firefox profile (bookmarks, passwords, latest sites visited, installed extensions/applications settings etc.) of my Win XP 64 machine to my new Win 7 machine. Firefox is updated (34.0 5) on my XP 64 and Windows 7 machines (I manually installed the active apps/extensions on Win 7). However Firefox was originally installed on my XP machine (at least 6) years ago so what counts.

    I have read and tried everything I can think of but * nothing * works.

    On my XP machine, I have only the default profile (to run Firefox with the - P option). It is located in C:\Documents and Settings\TexasTim65\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\1f2yd5bq.default

    On my Win 7 machine, I find the default profile in C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default.

    Try #1) I copied the folder 1f2yd5bq.default for Win 7. I run Firefox - P, but the profile manager sees only the default profile. So apparently, it cannot detect new profiles randomly added to the profiles folder. So that's a no-go.

    Try #2) I open the folder bjy0sgis.default on Win 7. I delete everything in this folder. I can copy and paste into all kinds of 1f2yd5bq.default. I start Firefox and got nothing. No favorites, no sites are visited and I guess no password information or anything else. If this doesn't work for me either even if MANY people claim that this is what they had to do.

    Try #3) using the Manager of profiles on Win 7, I added a new profile called hand. I just copied once again 1f2yd5bq.default in the new profile. I put in hand as default profile used (I know works because it uses different extensions/plugins) but of course I have nothing of my copied profile.

    So I'm puzzled. Something is different about my setup which is not allowing me to move on in a simple way.

    TIA,

    Tim

    P.S. is there something I can do to get Firefox to create EXACTLY the same name profile under Win 7 as I had in XP? I would have thought the same username would produce the same default profile, but apparently it does not.

    "On my Win 7 machine, in the fact that I find the default profile

    C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default. "

    There is another folder 'Profile' to C:\Users\TexasTim65\AppData\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bjy0sgis.default - without the \Local in the path. This is the folder you need to copy your old profile files in.

  • Cannot migrate/snapshot/consolidate/clone a vm due to

    I get the error 'Unable to access file < file name >' unspecified when I try to do a migration, clone or snapshot (they all involve making a snapshot, I guess that's why).  The esxi 5.0, same NFS volume for the source and destination host (the same fails when you try to move in a local data store).  Virtual MACHINE works very well on his part.  No 3rd party backup software has been used.

    vSphere error:

    Clone the virtual machine

    Cannot access the file < file_name indeterminate >

    vCenter Server: WIN - CAT

    section relevant vmware.log for this virtual machine in an attempt to clone:

    http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=KAR1B2Zj

    So turns out somehow the esxi host has been corrupted (no idea how) and had mounted his vfat on each drive partitions... This was compounded by problems with NFS on this particular host.  The host is restarted (had to take down the guest unfortunately Virtual PC migration would not work), returns to the top and was able to migrate again.  Had to wipe and reinstall esxi on this host.  Not the best result, but it seems that it was a combination of NFS and visorfs.

  • Cannot migrate between identical hosts in the same cluster - CPUID level 0 x 1 'ecx' inconsistency

    I have problems of migration of virtual machines between hosts that are identical. They are the new BL 6 490 HP servers with a pair of processors x 5570 @ 2.93 Ghz and I activated the "Intel Xeon 45nm Core 2" EVC mode, there is also two other cluster hosts (HP BL480 G1 with a pair of processors E5430 @ 2 .66GHz).

    I ESX4, vCenter4 and all the latest firmware on all devices.

    When I try to migrate an identical to another or to other hosts host machines, I get the following error;

    All affected machines are hardware VM 7, the last VMTools are installed, have not RDM or nonstandard hardware, there is no floppy disk or CD drive mapped drive

    I tried to change such CPUID mask specified in the document 1008315, but this did not help. I also tried to change the mask of CPUID for ecx to be 0-

    and that did not help.

    I turned off a VM to ensure that he had picked up the CVS settings. I am able to vMotion, virtual machine when it is off, but this is not enough as we have several "stuck" on the same host machine and cannot be moved by the DRS or manually.

    Virtual machines are Windows 2003 (R2, SP2, x 32). worked well before vMotion on all hosts. Other identical machines from the same model are fast vMotioning very well, and when we were on ESX 3.5u2 wasn't a problem.

    Can someone advise me on how I can diagnose and fix this problem?

    I had the same problem after migrating from ESX 3.5 to V4.0 with almost the same HW-Configuration you have. (BL490c and BL480c). But in my environment, the article you mentioned has brought the solution:

    To manually remove the CPUID masks using the VI Client:

    1 power off the virtual machine.

    2 - Click on the VM, then click on change settings.

    3. click on the Options tab.

    4. Select CPUID mask under Advanced.

    5. click on advanced.

    6. click Reset all to default.

    7. click on OK.

    8. click on OK.

    9. start the virtual machine and migrate.

    Have you actually tried it? The default mask is OK, there is no problem with it in your environment, as I have said already, I have the same hardware as you.

  • Cannot migrate VM between 5.5 ESXi versions: the version of the product to the destination host does not support one or several CPU features

    We receive an error message that I am trying to make sense. I understand very well the notion of compatibility, CPU, CPUID, masking and so on, after working on a competitor hypervisor. However, this error seems wrong (or needs better wording) based on my understanding:

    Here is the message:

    ----

    A general error occurred: the version of the product to the destination host does not support one or several features of the CPU currently use by the virtual machine.

    Characteristics of CPUID level 0 x 1 'ecx' register are indicated with a '1' bit: x00x:xxx0:xx0x:x 000: x 0 11xx:00: 00xx:11xx

    ----

    This happened during the migration between two hosts ESXi with the same physical processors - in this case, a Westmere X 5650.

    The source host is on ESXi build 2068190 (5.5). The destination host is on ESXi build 1474528.

    The bits it seems to complain are:

    DTES64

    Monitor/MWait

    Cx16

    PDCM

    The punch line seems to be: "the product version of the destination host. However, I have trouble believing that support for these features have been added to ESXi between the two versions. If it were, VMware has been certainly silent about.

    For what it's worth, explicitly set us the CPUID masks in our virtual machines (no, CVS is not an option for us at this time.) This is the mask:

    CPUID.1.EAX = "00000000000000100000011001010001".

    CPUID.1.ECX = "00000010100110001110001000111111".

    CPUID.1.EDX = "10001111111010111111101111111111".

    CPUID.80000001.ECX = "00000000000000000000000000000001.

    CPUID.80000001.EDX = "00101000000100000000100000000000".

    cpuid.d.EAX = "00000000000000000000000000000000".

    cpuid.d.ECX = "00000000000000000000000000000000".

    cpuid.d.EDX = "00000000000000000000000000000000".

    Note that the bits of the message complains (2, 3, 14, 15) * are * in fact forced to '1' in our mask of cpuid.1.ecx. That means (if I understand correctly), ESXi does not have the virtual machine unless the host processor supports the feature. And in our case, the virtual machine will start with happiness on nodes, with both versions. It will be not simply migrate between them.

    So, long story short, is this a bug of ESXi? The error message is misleading? I understand something?

    Thank you

    Matt

    To use the masks feature VM in this way, you must replace all the 1 to your masks with-'s:

    CPUID.1.EAX = "00000000000000-000000 - 00-0 - 000-

    CPUID.1.ECX = "000000-0-00--000---000-000---".

    CPUID.1.EDX = '-000 - 0-0 - 0-

    CPUID.80000001.ECX = "0000000000000000000000000000000 -"

    CPUID.80000001.EDX = "00-0-000000-00000000-00000000000.

    cpuid.d.EAX = "00000000000000000000000000000000".

    cpuid.d.ECX = "00000000000000000000000000000000".

    cpuid.d.EDX = "00000000000000000000000000000000".

    Zeros erases the features that are not available on your hosts Westmere, and dashes will leave the other one features.  The problem with those masks was forced to you certain features on who would have normally been off.

  • Cannot migrate Vsphere Standard Switch switch broadcast.

    Hi all

    We have HP blades and we try to add two new Cisco UCS servers in the same cluster where we have HP BL460 blades. VCenter is 5.5 U1 and U2 5.0 ESXi. We add ESXi in Maintenance mode to the Cluster and then tried to migrate the Group mgmt distributed port Standard move to remove a network card standard switch to the distributed switch. But it fails with the error ".

    Call 'HostNetworkSystem.UpdateNetworkConfig' of object "networkSystem-60985 'on vCenter Server 'Vcenter' has failed." Changing the network disconnected "10.1.x.x" vCenter server host configuration and has been restored.

    You must select a different load balancing policy. It is not possible to create a port-channel in the two Modules of IO Cisco UCS.

  • Cannot migrate Annotations

    Continuing to be unhappy about the web client...

    Now that I can create categories and tags (after the restart of the vcenter server) I am now looking to migrate my existing annotations to the categories and tags.  The documentation keeps talking of "go to the virtual machine, click the Summary tab and click on change in Control Panel custom attributes.  There is no custom attributes Panel (and Yes, I checked the real customer that the virtual machine in question has indeed defined custom attributes).

    Any ideas?

    I'm looking 'panel Custom Attributes' too...

    But I found a menu:

    Actions-> all actions of vCenter-> Custom Attributes-> Edition of custom attributes (sorry, translated from German labels, so maybe not 100% correct)

    It's from the migration assistant...

  • Cannot migrate the MRS server to the data store different

    Our SRM server is a virtual machine.  I need to pass the different VM SRM to a data store, but when I do a migration, it allows me to choose the data store, but then I get an error

    "This unchecked method by ' moref = vm-186.

    I stop the MRS server to move?

    I had solved it.  I tried to stop the SRM server, but I couldn't move it yet.  I found myself by opening a ticket with VMWare.  They come back with a 2008957 knowledge base article.  Although this article does not reference the same exact error, the workaround solution provided (remove from the VCenter inventory, browse the data store and make a 'add to inventory' on the VMX file) seems to have taken care of the issue

  • Transfer blocked server and cannot migrate

    I want cold migrate my server transfer, but when the virtual machine is powered from the migration option is disabled (grayed out) in the right click menu. Annotations on the summary of the vm tab say Server locked transfer. I checked through the list of tasks and events and the lock has been applied 'Set machine virtual custom value.

    Is there a safe way for me to migrate the virtual machine and the locked annotation is just a coincidence

    The virtual machine is locked by the view while it is in active use. Put the transfer server in maintenance of the view interface user admin mode and it will become then unlocked and you can move it.

  • Using several data stores, cannot migrate the vmx file in a data store

    I am host migration between 3.5 and 4.0, and part of the migration requires me to vmotion data to a single shared LUN data warehouses.  From there on, I import the virtual machine in 4.0 and using the script to migrate the two VM disks at different stores of data below.  The problem I have is that the configuration (vmx) file not migrated and is left on the shared storage LUNS.  Anyone knows how to go beyond this?

    The Script:

    $VMDisk = 'disk 1 '.

    $VMName = 'TestVM '.

    $TargetDS = get-Datastore - VMHost (Get-VMHost-$S.id Id) | Where-Object {$_.} Name - like "PMV"} | "" FreeSpaceMB tri-objet-descending | SELECT name - first of all 1

    $vm = get-View - ViewType VirtualMachine-filter @{"Name" = $VMName}

    foreach ($dev in $vm. Config.Hardware.Device) {if ($dev. DeviceInfo.Label - eq $vmDisk) {$diskId = $dev. Key}}

    $spec = new-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineRelocateSpec

    $diskspec = new-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineRelocateSpecDiskLocator

    $diskspec. Data store = (Get-Datastore-name $TargetDS.Name |) Get - View). MoRef

    $diskspec.diskId = $diskId

    $spec. Disk = @($diskspec)

    $task = get-View ($vm. RelocateVM_Task ($spec, "lowpriority"))

    OK, I think I understand your problem now.

    I fear that in the current construction of PowerCLI, the Move-VM cmdlet does not destinations of individual data for each virtual hard disk store.

    With the RelocateVM_Task method, it is possible.

    The following script moves a guest at 3 different data warehouses:

    -the. VMX file for DS2

    -hard disk 1 for DS3

    -hard drive 2 TB DS4

    $vmName = "MyGuest"
    $vmxDS = "DS2"
    $osDS = "DS3"
    $dataDS = "DS4"

    $vm = Get-VM -Name $vmName

    $vm.Extensiondata.Config.Hardware.Device | %{
         if ($_.DeviceInfo.Label -eq "Hard disk 1"){
              $osDiskId = $_.Key
         }
         elseif($_.DeviceInfo.Label -eq "Hard disk 2"){
              $dataDiskId = $_.Key
         }
    }

    $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineRelocateSpec

    $osRelocate = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineRelocateSpecDiskLocator
    $osRelocate.Datastore = (Get-Datastore -Name $osDS).Extensiondata.MoRef
    $osRelocate.diskId = $osDiskId

    $dataRelocate = New-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineRelocateSpecDiskLocator
    $dataRelocate.Datastore = (Get-Datastore -Name $dataDS).Extensiondata.MoRef
    $dataRelocate.diskId = $dataDiskId

    $spec.Disk = @($osRelocate,$dataRelocate)
    $spec.Datastore = (Get-Datastore -Name $vmxDS).Extensiondata.MoRef
    $spec.Host = $vm.Extensiondata.Summary.Runtime.Host

    $task = Get-View ($vm.Extensiondata.RelocateVM_Task($spec, "lowpriority"))
    while("running","queued" -contains $task.Info.State){
         $task.UpdateViewData("Info")
         sleep 5
    }

    BTW, you can use the cmdlet Set - hard disk to a virtual disk that is specific to a data store.

    But as I understood what is not possible in your environment.

  • Cannot migrate through the required network. Someone please...?

    I've set up 3 ESXi hosts connected via 2 parallel networks. One is a slower network (base 100) on 192.168.12.0/24, and the other is a speed gigabit on 10.1.1.0/24 network. Each host is to have two physical network adapters for each network.

    Home #1 Config is as follows: (also see attached photo)

    vSwitch0 (connected to vmNic0 )-> a

    -Network VM (Machine Virtual Port group)

    -Management network (VMKernel Port) vmk0: 192.168.12.30

    vSwitch1 (connected to vmNic1 )-> a

    -Network SAN (Virtual Machine port group)

    -VMKernel-Special (VMKernel Port) vmk1: 10.1.1.30

    NOTE: Host 2 also has a similar setup with a different set of IP addresses.

    My problem is that when I try to cold migrate a virtual machine from one host to another (in the left pane you see, sound of 192.168.12.30 to 192.168.12.32), he's still doing the migration through the slower network (vSwitch 0). I want to be cold migration through the fastest gigabit set to vSwitch network 1.

    I have not yet tried make clusters or vmotion, because I can't seem to properly configure the network I want to serve. so can you please help me with this? I want to make sure when I do the migration (migration to cold to start), happens through the network of my choice, which in this case is the gigabit network. Thank you very much.

    Hello

    The stream migration cold traffic over the first Appliance for management of the system detects. In your case, there are two, with the slower network, being the first one it finds. There is no way to route based on activity, so that you either the entire network managemernt vSwitch1 or you live with slower speeds. Personally, I'm not sure that I would never have my network of virtual computer on the same link as my device/network management since they are generally two areas of different trust, etc..

  • Cannot migrate VM on iSCSI SAN. Failure at the helm of the 10%. Peut vmping to all addresses

    Hello everyone

    Impossible to migrate virtual machines on iSCSI SAN. Failure at the helm of the 10%. Peut vmping to all addresses

    I recently installed a new configuration of the VM and I feel the above. My configuration is:

    2 HP DL380 with 1CPU 16 GB of ram and 500 GB shared space on iSCSI SAN.

    Installation of the network as follows:

    each host has the 6 network ports that is load balanced and fault tolrated in 3 VMSwitches. VMSwitch0 goes to 2 ports to shared resources on a 4510th cisco. On this switch, I use VLAN tagging to different servers that perform different functions. It works fine.ie. VLAN 5 is for the management vlan 31 is for secure vlan servers 37 is forinternal Web servers.

    VMSwitch1 is a vmkwenelport for the connection of iSCSI SAN. It is set on vlan 200 on the switch, so does tagging vlan put it. We have separated our san network ourusual networks.

    vmswitch2 is used for backup purposes and is used in a similar manner as vmswitch0. the ports of trunkied and backup services is vlan tag to go to the correct servers.

    I am able to ping betwneen the VLANS allowed. I can also vmkping to all the ip addresses of the two hosts san.

    What I can't do is to migrate direct customers between the hosts. He is still unable to 10% with the following error:

  • Cannot migrate Forms 10 g and 11g: give SQL stmnts ALL erred "ignored statement."

    We have a Forms application Forms 10 g R1 (Forms [32 bit] Version 9.0.4.2.0 (Production)). We want to migrate Forms 11 g (Forms [64-Bit] Version 11.1.2.0.0).

    The app Server and Forms builder are in Windows machines.

    We open a 10g R1 form our application forms 11g and compile it in the form designer. Yes, we get an error for "each SQL STATEMENT", for each SQL statement and some procedure calls that we get this error.

    Error 0 in line 4, column 3 SQL statement ignored

    Then, we created a mild form using Forms 10 g R1 without any of our libraries and added a block and a program unit to the form with a simple SQL.

    We then copied the form to the machine that has the forms 11g and then opened it in form 11g. Then we try to compile and we get the same error. See screenshot here: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/i8m6c

    It's so obviously nothing to do with our library (PLL) or forms of model. This seems a common problem in all forms.

    What is the problem here? Is this a bug?

    We then converted the 10g R1 Forms 10 g R2 ([32 bit] Version 10.1.2.0.2 (Production)) which opened in forms of 11g and tried to compile. Same mistake.

    What is the process to 11g Forms 10g Release 1?

    Your database Version is too low, what is happening here. According to the matrix http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/oracle-forms-11gr2certmatrix-519680.xls certification, you must at least 10.2.0.4.

  • Cannot migrate the physical files using OPE utility loader

    Hi friends,
    With my problem of submodel still pending, I am facing another problem - 'Migration to XML Publisher rtf templates'.
    I went through the document (DocId:Note 469585.1) regarding 'How to use OPE Loader?'
    The document contains commands for the DOWNLOAD and UPLOAD of physical files.
    Before you run these commands, I executed the following commands to migrate the "data Definitions" and "Definitions". The commands are the following:-

    [crp2appl@erptrg CRP2_erptrg] $ FNDLOAD apps/apps 0 Y DOWNLOAD $XDO_TOP/patch/115/import/xdotmpl.lct corptmpl.ldt XDO_DS_DEFINITIONS APPLiCATION_SHORT_NAME = "SQLAP" DATA_SOURE_CODE = "XXAPCORPCHQPRT" TMPL_APP_SHORT_NAME = "SQLAP" TEMPLATE_CODE
    = "XXAPCORPCHQPRT".

    [crp2appl@erpdev CLN2_erpdev] $ FNDLOAD DOWNLOAD apps/apps $0 XDO_TOP/patch/115.
    Import/xdotmpl. LCT corptmpl.ldt

    After running these two commands, the "definition of data" and "details of the model" are migrated but not physical rtf files.

    At this point, I tried to run the following command to the physical integrity (rtf) file migration which is given in the document mentioned above.

    Java oracle.apps.xdo.oa.util.XDOLoader.

    What could be the problem?
    Please help me solve this problem.

    File_name http://XXAPDENACHQPRT.rtf

    Why is this http?

    give the location of the rtf file.

    or copy the rtf in the folder where you run this command

    and mention XXAPDENACHQPRT.rtf filename.

    Use the following command, that I used for on the migration of production test report.

    DOWNLOAD Java oracle.apps.xdo.oa.util.XDOLoader - DB_USERNAME DB_PASSWORD apps & apps_password-JDBC_CONNECTION & JDBC_ADDR - MODEL LOB_TYPE - APPS_SHORT_NAME SHORTNAME - LOB_CODE LOBCODE - en-TERRITORY U.S. LANGUAGE. - XDO_FILE_TYPE-RTF-FILE_NAME filename.rtf - CUSTOM_MODE FORCE;

    You command is - LOB_TYPE TEMPLATE_SOURCE change to-MODEL LOB_TYPE
