Cannot move old profile to the new facility

I need to move my FF profile for a new installation of FF on a new PC, but I can't get the profile to "stick".

I tried to copy the files from the old profile into the new folder by default and the default editing the .ini to the game file, but it does not work. I tried to delete the new default profile and insert the old, but the default profile folder recreates itself. Where FF stores the new default profile number and how can I change it?

I know that it is possible to move an existing to a new installation of FF profile, as I've done it before, but I can't make it work this time. What I am doing wrong?

  • Reset used, bad results. ALL copied from old profile to the new file, & FF file now takes 100% of CPU. I can take off safely profile folder?

Audio delayed or does not stop when you run a video. So I used RESET. Lost bookmarks & homepage & ADBLOCK and who knows what else. So I just copied ALL the files from the old profile on my desk in the new found under troubleshooting. Put everything back, but now FF use 100% CPU when running. I'm sure that I messed up by copying everything but little, I freaked out when I saw that I had lost so much. What can delete the current profile safely folder? (Yes, I feel like a fool and I regret just is go with my screws upward, but I really need help with this).

I didn't know how to find your answer to what earlier. In the meantime, I used back once again, & found printed the info that I need to copy ONLY the files that I need between previous & new. (Not done yet). But this time, my favorites return. (YAY! "I have a ton of bookmarks). The CPU usage is now reasonable.

  • Impossible to copy old details in the new Firefox

Long story short, I did not know Firefox Sync and my old installation of Windows is damaged due to a corruption of HD, and I reinstalled Windows on a new PC.

I have Firefox installed on your new PC, and in the past I would just copy files as places.sqlite on the new profile and bookmarks would be restored, but that has not worked. In fact, I replaced each element (straight upward to copy and paste to replace the new files) of the old profile in the news, but when I reopen it firefox, this is still a new installation; no saved passwords, cookies, history, nothing.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried to use the Profile Manager?

    • Close the Profile Manager and launch Firefox
  • Thunderbird does not work properly after copying old content profile in the new profile, what can I do

My old laptop crashed, but fortunately I got the hard drive out, who now works as an external drive. I installed TB on my new laptop computer. I copied the contents of the old file to profile in the new profile file and start of TB. I have all my files of pace, but TB does nog works correctly. After that connection, it takes forever to load the new messages, when I leave a message to another, the first answer I get is "TB not responding' and after a few minutes, I finally get to the next message. Same story with 'reply' or 'delete '. I already tried to delete the index file and have tuberculosis still indexing message folders, but this did not help.

I noticed that my old profile files seems to have a sort of double files in the subfolder Mail, old accounts. For example: pop.tele2.nl, pop.tele2 - 1.nl, pop.tele2 - 2.nl. I'm not sure what they are (they seem to hold different versions?) or is it relevant?

When I search the AppData/Roaming/profiles I'll find it (on the old and the new hard disk as well) but I can not navigate on him (some parents of hidden file)? I checked the rights on the files of my account profile (Administrator rights). I don't know what to do more, so I hope to help.

    Re: for example: pop.tele2.nl, pop.tele2 - 1.nl, pop.tele2 - 2.nl.
Here's the e-mail accounts for pop e-mail account. If you have several addresses on the same server, it will have the same name but an additional example:-1 appended to the name. If you got an e-mail account, it can also create and add the additional number. Why you have several, I can't say with certainty what caused them without knowing what you have done. The point being, you must have the directory Local pointing to one that is correct and has all your existing emails.

    Profile files are hidden files.

    Info on profile:
    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

What local directory is set to the e-mail account?
"Tools" > "Account settings" > "Server settings" for the e-mail account
    bottom right under "Local Directory"
It will say something like this:
    C:\Users\User account name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\abc12345.default\Mail\pop.tele2.nl

Copy paste the info on this issue, so I don't know which e-mail account you use.

How many email accounts you listed in the left pane in the account settings? You have just the one pop email account and local folders?

    What antivirus do you use?
    If you McAfee please read;

How many emails you have in the Inbox folder?
It is advisable to use the Inbox folder as a mailbox for incoming mail, and not as a general storage. Suggest you create folders and move all the emails in the Inbox in other appropriate folders, then right-click on Inbox and select "Compact".

Good info explaining what is compaction and why it is important:

It is also a good idea to Archive mail older than a few months.
Implemented for archive by month and keep the structure of archive folders. These emails will still be visible by 'Archives' folder and in your profile, but check-in will reduce the size of files and therefore less memory use during their opening.

  • I just installed a new drive faster. How can I get windows live mail from the old drive to the new drive

Where are the files stored WindowsLiveMail?  Under what article directory.  I have "tons" of e-mail messages stored on the old disk and need to move them to the new drive faster.  How can I do?

The location of the store folder, which contains all the messages, calendars and the account settings, is configurable by the user. The default location is
    C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

If the installer of WLMail is a record storage in the default location, it normally acknowledge and take into use if. The only user that would be required should reinstate saved passwords. If this is to succeed, the old and new installations of WLMail normally must be exactly the same construction. The storage location must be in place in the default location on the new drive before installing WLMail. Also, the current user must be the owner of the record store to its new location.

If the old drive is installed on the same computer as the new facility in WLMail, you can point the Import Wizard to import messages to the old folder of the store. They will find under storage folders into imported folders.

  • Old iMac to the new iMac?

I have posted before, but I am now ready to move from my 2007 24 ' iMac to a model of 5K of 2015. The old operating system is leopard (10.5.8) and the news is... most recent .the (Sierra). I was told to join the former backup disk, Time Machine USB 2.0 on my new computer before the first start and following the guests. Of course the software may not be compatible, but I would like to transfer as many files over the old machine to the new as possible so that I can remove the 24 ", or at least re - goal there.

This is the best method. Should I add some steps of the process or do something else? I was aware of something special during this process? Please notify.

Congratulations Kort! Yes, that would be the best way. But this the first time you start your new Mac. After that, it will create a second home folder issue.

Move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support

BTW - I hate to disappoint you, but it will not come with Sierra, which is a beta version. It will come with El Capitan.

  • Copied bookmarks to the file in the profile on the new computer, but they do not appear.

Bookmarks.html copied the folder from the old computer in XP and deposited the record .default in the profile on the new computer under Win7 folder. The bookmarks do not appear in Firefox, even after restart of Firefox and restart the computer.

Since Firefox 3 favorites are stored in places.sqlite, you must copy this file instead.

  • has got the biggest hard drive, can I transfer old install to the new drive?

    C: space too small

My Windows XP Professional is installed on a 10 GB hard drive, there is little room left. I added an external drive more and would like to move the system to the largest disk. I don't have a installation disc. Can I transfer the system and applications to the new drive without losing any functionality and maybe use the old drive (C :) to store data.

Its not so easy.  It is best to get rid of some of the files on the old drive and move the data files to the new drive.  Try to go first to start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk Cleanup.  Then you can move locations of various data, such as temporary Internet files (in Internet Explorer go to tools |) Internet Options | Settings and click the folder to move and which will move this place).  If you use OE, first back up your messages (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#6) and then put in place a new directory on the new drive to something like D:\OESTORE and then go to tools | Options | Advanced | Maintenance | Store the folder and click the button change and set it as the new location.  Then close and reopen OE (DO NOT MOVE MESSAGES yourself! as he will destroy them) and the location must be moved.

For other space saver, try to do a backup on the new disk directory and copy all update backups that were made (the Blues subdirectories in the Windows directory) and the Windows\inf directory that you can completely roll over to the new drive for backup purposes and you may need to browse to it, if you install a new device , but which will save a lot of space. (the above two suggestions require that you go to control panel |) Folder options | View and activate display files and hidden folders, enable showing protected and OS files and disable the option Hide extensions of known file types).  Move also on other data such as images, documents, music to the new drive.

So if you have lots of space on C, defrag it.

But just copy through the old drive to the new and try to start on the new one is unlikely to work.

  • Migration of data from the old platform to the new primary database, need advice.

I have physical standby facility and everything works now.

Next weekend, we will do the actual migration of the old platform to the new environment.

I have several issues of concern.

Migration will go to the primary database. I'll have to remove patterns and inside expdp dmp.

While I do all those, what data base waiting? should I disable it again apply?

What other concerns and precautions I need to take before I have to remove all data from primary school and do a migration?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello;

My main concern would be the FRA (assuming you use it).

By doing all that generates a ton of archives, you have to worry about the space on both sides.

I would consider increasing my FRA on both sides.

I would not disable the recovery, but I look very close and be willing to adjust my space as needed.

As long as you don't miss space you should be fine. I had once a backup log files more than 250, and it took about 15 minutes to catch up.

Have a little prepared scripts in advance if you can increase the space or delete archive applied and it should be fine.

I also opened at least two terminals on the primary and Standby. Everyone look at space and the other to execute all what you need to adjust the space.

The rest is common sense, first do the smaller drawing if you have an idea what to expect. Decaying etc. as much as possible.

    Best regards

I have a shell script called 'quickcheck.sh' (use a separate but .env file it will send information vital back)

With a little work, you can do this in something that makes it easy to keep an eye on things.
