Cannot open a Word Document in E-mail

Anyone know why I can't open an attachment or download in my email that is in word format? The message reads the doc is not a valid win32 application. I tried to save and open, etc. It opens on other computers with different operating systems and other (computers with the same operating system. Don't know what the question is? He was working and recently stopped and went at least a year. We currently have Mozilla Firefox for the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You must have installed Word, or a Word Viewer.

And make sure that the file Associations are set correctly.

Word Viewer

View, print and copy Word documents, even if you don't have Word installed. This download is a replacement for Word Viewer 2003 and all previous Word Viewer versions.

  • Cannot retrieve saved word document so that in an email

My daughter has created a word document. We have 2007. She then sent it me for my review.  I made a few changes and sent it to him.  It opens the e-mail message and the attached document.  She has made some additional changes and sent to me for a final review.  She said that when she tried to close out, the system asked her if she wanted to save him, she said yes.  Unfortunately, when she sent him back to me, it is the previous version and not with its recent changes.  I was told by some people that the document must be 'somewhere' but nobody seems to know where it is 'somewhere'.  I tried to look in the temporary folders but can't seem to locate it.  Help, please!

With AOL, I have no idea where the temporary file might have been placed.  For the future, by saving the document attached to a record, publishing and the recording, then re - install it on a new message will be completely avoid this; you will have the unmodified document still attached to the message and the modified copy saved to a known folder.  Here is an article that can help:

How to recover a lost in Word 2007 or Word 2003 file

It could also appear in the "recent items" in the start menu.

  • When you open a Word document downloaded, hundreds of tabs begin opening in Firefox. How can I stop this happening?

I just installed Office 2007 on my computer and downloaded some documents on the internet. When I try to open Firefox becomes crazy and opens the tabs of the browser faster that I can close them, with no sign of stopping. How can I stop what is happening and have access to the downloads? Any help much appreciated!

OK, solved. It's not Firefox, it's Windows. Somehow, it had been changed to open Word documents as browsers. I had my suspicions that it wasn't Firefox as Word documents to open in form of tabs in the browser even if Firefox is not running. The only way to open a Word doc was if it was already on the hard drive.

For someone who has a similar problem, it's how to correct:

    Open my computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
    Click the File Types tab.
In the registered file types list, click the file that you are trying to open. In my case, it was the doc files. In the list this type of file has been shown by a Firefox icon, indicating that what was used to open the file.
Under the list of registered file types scroll details for each file type are displayed, with an option for "opens with:
Click Edit to the right of the present and choose the program to use in the future. Click OK and close the dialog box file types. This should solve the problem.

  • Why my friends cannot open a shared document 'pages '.  most can, but some may not

I send a calendar of tennis that I create on pages each week.  some of my players can't open the link wkhy

If you use v5 Pages to send these documents, then no using any other application than Pages v5 can open them. Pages ' 09 users are out of luck, because the documents are not backward compatible and if you use Pages v5.5.3 or later, your default document format is more compatible with anyone using Pages v5 on the Mavericks.

If no change is expected by the recipients, then just send a PDF document. It is the first choice for document exchange, as everyone has a PDF reader. Otherwise, if the Assembly is planned, then just send .docx Word documents.

  • Microsoft cannot open or save documents more because there is not enough disk space or memory

Using the Chrome browser in Windows 10 attachments to emails sent to my Gmail account are not available. The error message is the same mentioned in the first request:

"Microsoft Excel cannot open or save all the documents more because there is not enough disk space or memory.

The solution is simple - it's just a stupid error message that has nothing to do with the real problem, and the problem is actually a feature of microsoft, is also often:
-office now has a kind of function 'protected mode', which prevents the office applications to do things under certain conditions.
-One of them is to stop excel from opening attachments from outlook :-(

Go to options Excel, the Privacy Center, settings and uncheck all options on "protected from view.

Save and voila, suddenly excel can open all the files and has absolutely no problem with your GB of free memory.

Thanks to the brilliant mind who has designed such an awkward feature with the awkward error messages and options ultra deep to clear - and of course no simple help.
