Cannot open 'about.config"in either 'normal' or 'safe mode' in Firefox.
I'm trying to change the preferences in the About.config settings, but I can't get into "about.config" either Firefox in normal mode or Safe Mode Firefox.
For some strange reason, the ' topic: config ' now works. I tried Firefox closed and reopened many times, but about: config refused to work. Now, after posting my problem with the help of Mozilla, I went back to Firefox and could open on: config. Sorry about that.

Firefox android opens about.config homepage. Failed to set the new homepage
Firefox android open always new tab or browser session about: config page.
I restarted browser and Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 3), and this behavior has not changed.
All google searches suggest that the firefox browser android home page is not editable, but this is obviously not true.
I tried the solutions that suggest to navigate to about: home and edit bookmarks and these paths do not work.
The awesome bar is far from great.
How to stop the browser from the start to about: config and how can I make the homepage be what I want?Solution found:
Any time by the shortcut of firefox in the section at the bottom of my home screen Quick Launch I got about: configWhenever the opening of new tabs for navigation, I got about: config
I removed the shortcut to quick launch firefox and entered the apps and the firefox shortcut added to quick launch
The new shortcut follows my customization settings and opens to the best sites now, but also the new tabs to open up to the best websites
Of course, there is a way to set a homepage of a shortcut somehow
Unfortunately, this tablet was working properly at the time of purchase and I don't know how to change shortcuts yet, but they can be changed

OS Vista won't boot normal or safe mode, cannot be repaired automatically
Hi all
A few days ago my computer crashed, reboot random, followed by a lot of problems with the power turned off during repair efforts.
Now, each start attempt ends in failure.
Measures taken to date:
(1) restoration of the system of advanced recovery options. No restore point completes successfully. Error code 0 x 80070002. Cannot find the file.
2) starts in SafeMode by F8 at startup. I am able to get to the options, but safe mode does not start. Restarts the boots as if nothing happened, to fail.
(3) sfc/scannow command prompt. Error: There is a system repair pending which requires a reboot to complete. (Reboot does not change the result).
Like a dummy I have no disk backup or Starter.
Can someone help me with this problem?
Thank you for your time and effort!
Mike
Hello
In Safe Mode, etc. options do not work, try a startup repair and / or a system restore using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft
Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.
Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

If you do not or can not borrow a Microsoft DVD there is a download of a file ISO of Vista Startup Repair available that you can put on a Bootable floppy to make the above startup repair and that the method is recommended by a large number of posters in these Forums.
Unfortunately, you have to buy it.

Original title: frozen configuration page
My laptop running windows xp pro was fine, when I went to bed last night, but this morning I woke and went to use the lt and it started as usual but then in a mode options regurly windows open or to last working configuration, or 3 safe mode options. And no matter what I choose, it keeps restart and return to this page and has continually repeated the same steps over and over again... someone can please help me with this?
It seems that your XP hangs for some reason any...
Why do we know almost nothing about your system (except a laptop with XP Pro)? I know this isn't your fault...
Please answer these questions and to implement the following:
Provide information on your system, the better you can:
What is your system brand and model?
What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?
Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)
The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?
You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?
If there is a problem starting, XP is configured to automatically try to start again and you can stuck in a loop not being able to go beyond the screen boot options, or none of these startup options you choose will work only.
Sometimes, when XP has a problem starting or falls down and tries to start again, it will give you a "short" menu of boot options and none of them will appear to be good to get your system going again. You have tried them all!
The options are similar to the Advanced Boot Options menu XP, but the only option that you need (disable automatic error system reboot) are not offered, because XP went too far during the boot process and offers a limited number of boot options.
If this is the case, you must call Options menu advanced boot yourself until you do not see the option:
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure
When you get the XP Advanced Options correct start menu you want to see, he has options on it like these:
Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command promptEnable Boot logging
Enable VGA mode
Last good Configuration known (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debug mode
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failureStart Windows normally
Reset
Return to OS Choices MenuYou need to choose in this menu is the option:
Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure
Then if XP does not start normally, you will see an error screen with information and clues about the problem and then you can decide what to do next.If you do not see the automatic restart on system failure option turn it off, you must reset your system and start typing the key F8 on the keyboard until you see her disable automatic restart on system failure option.
If you miss the window of opportunity F8, you must try again and start tapping the F8 key with more urgency (earlier and more frequently) until you see disable automatic restart on system failure, and then select.
You must keep trying the F8 menu until you see disable automatic restart on system failure option, and select it.
If your system has a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), we need to know what the screen says:
Here's a BSOD example showing information you provide:
http://TechRepublic.com.com/i/tr/downloads/images/bsod_a.jpg
Send for the nose and the Red arrows (3 to 4 lines total).
Send all * line STOP message since there are clues in the 4 parameters.
If it looks like there is some kind of name listed in the STOP message file, send this line also.
Ignore the boring text unless it seems important to you. We know what a BSOD looks like, we need to know what your BSOD looks like.
Answering queries and results report of the disable automatic restart on system failure screen and you can decide what to do next.

Hello
I have a Dell laptop under Windows Vista Premium. I got it for about three years, and he is upset enough ok tonight. In the middle of browsing the internet, check my email, etc., all but one of my browser windows close at random, and a message appears "windows vista Security Center" whenever I try to open a new window, blocking of the site and to say that the site is dangerous and my system has been infiltrated by a Trojan horse. Then he starts the scan and says that I must buy the full to get everything to work again. I closed everything, since I already have McAfee antivirus and internet security, but it does not, and neither did any other progams. I tried restarting in safe mode to restore a backup point, but Windows does not open in safe mode, rather stick for half an hour in the middle of loading. When I managed to start windows in normal mode, I found that all my past restore points had been erased.
This happened to someone else, and it is fixable without wiping everything?
Thanks in advance,
EmmaHi Emma,
This could be due to a virus on your computer. Try to make a virus on your computer scan to check if your computer is infected.

Hello
1. are you able to boot into normal mode?
2. what exactly are you trying to run? Is it an application, site Web or tool?
Perform a scan of the SFC (System File Checker).

Also try a clean boot to find if there any third party software. Temporarily disable the firewall as well.
Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

I got to my computer today and there was a blue screen with white writing about him say a word on the internal discharge. Then later in the day, the computer froze, after a while the screen went black with just the cursor on the screen. I restarted the computer and now it just does not start. In normal mode it gets as far as the loading screen Windows with the movement of green bar but stays on it indefinitely. If I try to start in safe mode it gets as much as crcdisk.sys and then crashes, and if I try to boot from the Vista recovery disc, it also only gets the windows loading green bar and stay on it. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just install eset ss 9 and now cannot use FF it crash immediately, even in safe mode
I just install the new eset smart security 9 on my windows 7. and just after it's impossible for me to use firefox: it opens and at the end of 5 seconds it closed immediately. I tried all the solutions: safe mode, new facility etc without success so I'm forced to go back to Chrome (it works) or to do a restore. Thanks for the tips.
I finally found the cause of this problem: it came from Malwarebytes anti feat. So I uninstall it and the probem has disappeared. Thanks for the indication of malwarebytes (in fact I also install eset ss9 16 with the same problems and then I did a restore.) To date, I tried again to install eset ss9 and I faced the same thing. Even if the accident report when not the latest comments gave me a good indication.

I saw someone ask a similar question. I tried in safe mode, no luck. I have an attachment with a PDF, PPS or LSH. None can be opened. Hitting the room attached, says it is scanning, action can save on my computer, then no further. Where does go and why I can't open it?
You can disable Firefox integration with an attachment security feature Windows. That is not ideal from a safety point of view, but it could solve the problem in the short term so that you find out what is the cause. Check out this recent thread: downloaded files immediately to disappear at the end.

When I click on a link, firefox opens in a new window. It is used to open it in a new tab instead which is what I prefer. I've never had this problem until last night, so I have no idea what might have started it. I tried the suggestion to put firefox in safe mode and still the same problem. I have firefox 15.0.1 on windows 7.
What security (firewall, antivirus) software do you have?
Try to start the computer in safe mode Windows with network support (on the startup screen, press F8) as a test to see if it works.
Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.
See "create a profile":
- http://KB.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.

Satellite L650 - cannot load the Win7 or power up in safe mode
Hi all
Depending on the subject, I have the laptop above. When I boot it Win 7 hangs and does not progress. If I do the same in safe mode by pressing the F8 key again the windows is not progress. I get a flash of the blue tho screen at this point, but it disappears quickly to see what he says.
I did a lot of research and bought a crib drive, removed my properley drive hard laptop and connected via the cradle to my laptop works, hoping to see my files and then I was able to copy them.
Prevented, yes I did not a return to the top if desperate to get my photos once they are memories I don't want to lose. Connect the hard drive it starts and on my computerI see a new e: folder and a folder of f:.
If I open the f: folder shows which, in my view, is the partition with the toshiba backup or restore files. If I try and open the e: drive, it takes an age, and then finally said format of the drive. So I did another search and someone mentions do run a command to the command. My first question is how to the prompt if windows does not start.
But more importantly am I missing something for example are likely to be on the e: drive pictures, they are everywhere where I haven't looked.
If I restore my toshiba folder will this re image my pc or can I go back to a point through this before the problem.
Thanks for any help which is quite simple, because I'm not a computer type guy but quickly learn since that happened.
See you soon
G
Somehow the disc is screwed. Problem of backup data are not directly question related to Toshiba and before you spend time here discussing such things I recommend you ask someone with good knowledge of the PC which can be done on the data record.
When the disc is in the notebook again start laptop as a first step the value default BIOS.
After doing this recovery of installation image. After doing this you will own preinstalled OS and everything should work again properly.I hope that you will be able to do using HARD drive recovery option.
How to do this you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

my broadband speed is lagging on Windows but is normal in safe mode. Why?
my broadband has to operate at 50 m, but I get only 25 m in normal mode, but when I do a test in safe mode with network I have complete 5 m can you tell me why and there at - it anytyhing I change mode normal mode to fix this
Hello
1. you got speed broadband before without any problem?
2. did you of recent changes on the system?
3 Windows operating system you are using?
Method 1:
As the bandwidth works correctly in safe mode with networking, you can try to perform a clean boot and check if it helps.
A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.
Method 2:
You can temporarily disable the third-party antivirus and firewall installed on the computer and try to install the drivers and see if that fixes the problem.
If disabling the antivirus software solves the problem, you may need to configure the settings of the antivirus as a result program. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.
Note: Make sure that you enable the antivirus software, other security and firewall after the test programs.

Cannot connect to windows - journal of superelevation in safe mode!
It keeps trying to do a system check at startup and will just keep cycling through this. If I don't tell them to run the check, I get in the log on screen and it won't let me type in my password but it does not appear to meet for. on a log in the attempt, that he told me that microsoft shared is damaged or illegible, and run the chkdsk utility - but I cannot connect you to do this. I tried to start in safe mode, but it gets so far under the form /windows/system32/DRIVERS/null.sys and then just seems to freeze. PLEASE HELP ME! Thank you
Hi Bobo Rose,
1. did you of recent changes on the computer?
2 when was the last time it was working fine?
3. you receive an error message during the system check?
I suggest that you run the CHKDSK utility by using the installation CD of Windows XP, which checks the specified drive and repairs or recovers the drive if the drive requires it. The command also marks bad sectors and recovers readable information.
You will need to access the recovery console to run Chkdsk.
You can use the following options:
CHKDSK /p Performs a comprehensive check of the drive and corrects any errors.
CHKDSK /r Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information.Description of the Windows XP Recovery Console for advanced users
