cannot open FF, get the search bar
I uninstalled FF. When I re-installed, all I get is the logo with a search bar. How can I open FF from there? I uninstalled is because the page was too large, followed instructions to decrease the size and everything went haywire from there.
Please ignore my question above. It's a simple solution. It was just a matter of my putting my home page in the toolbar options fields. The positive side of all my frustration to get things and smoothly again, it is the page size problem that I had was resolved. I am a 74 year old, female, non - computer guru who has been able to solve all my problems PC on my own without disturbing families gurus. However, I want of course that it wouldn't take me long to do, especially when it's an obvious solution (and it usually is).

This seems to be something new, but I usually use the built in the toolbar to search at the top right of my Firefox window to search eBay and I usually go to the Firefox default Home/Start for searches on Google page. Now, it seems that whenever I try to search from the home/start page, I get the results of any search engine is specified in the top search bar. So if toolbar is set to 'eBay' and I search something on the homepage, only eBay results appear.
I don't want to do. I want that the Google search home page every time, no matter what is on my search toolbar. It's really annoying to have to go to the search bar engine resume Google and then my search. I often open new tabs quickly find something relevant to what I'm working on because it requires less effort to hit Ctrl + T to open a new tab that is already on the cover with my cursor in the search field, than using the toolbar where I have to take my hands on the keyboard to use the mouse. How can I fix it. This "improvement" sucks.I forgot an obvious solution to this problem. I just changed my homepage of "www.google.com" rather than use the default Firefox homepage. In hindsight, it makes little sense to use the default Firefox homepage as an intermediary to Google anyway.

When I use the Google search box, I would like the search results to open in a new tab instead of the current tab.
Does the search bar in the Navigation toolbar?
For this search bar, you can switch the browser.search.openintab true on the topic: config page.
For the Google site you can do so via the Google search settings page.

When you use the search bar, it is possible to get results of the search in a new tab?
In the old Google toolbar, it was possible to display the search results in a new tab, Google toolbar is compatible with Firefox 7, so I have to use the Firefox search bar. However, he always gets results the research in the current tab. Can this be changed?
Yes. Open a new tab and type or paste Subject: config in the address bar, press enter and press ENTER again to override the warning. Then stick browser.search.openintab in the filter area that shows, and then double-click the browser.search.openintab to activate (it will switch to "BOLD").
If you had rather an add-on simply do the above for you and add a menu option for it, try this:
https://addons.Mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchOnTab/You can also type a search in the search bar and press on alt + enter in instead of just enter to open your search in a new tab.

Disappeared from the search bar. How can I get that back?
The right of the missing address bar search bar by double clicking. The need to double-tap started after the last software update. He was a nuisance and now has caused the loss of the search bar.
You can get the search like this bar:
-Open the menu (the button with three horizontal lines) - choose ' customize' - click and drag the bar in search of good place - click "customize output.
When exactly do you need to double click, btw?

Firefox cannot connect to google in the search bar
I recently had an attacker change the IP address of the DNS server in my router to a bad. When it has been changed, I couldn't access google or facebook. I have fixed and can browse both sites, but the search bar in the upper right won't take me to google. I get an "Unable to connect" error. Do other search engines (e.g. wikipedia) is very good.
Firefox 37 right out of the box (+ router nonsense) on Ubuntu 14.
Time seems to have fixed. Maybe the https / /google.com ip has been in cache or something.

How can I get my search on the search bar engine choices?
I've lost the ability to choose a search engine by clicking on the magnifying glass next to the search bar. When I click it now all he says is "change search settings." When I go to this option it gives me a list of search engines to view and all are checked, but they does not appear as it should when I go out of the menu options.
I have reset Firefox via the Help Menu and which did not help.
If you want to restore the window previously used independently to manage search engines, you can enable or disable this pref to false with a middle-click on the topic: config page.
- topic: config page: browser.search.showOneOffButtons = false
You will need to close and restart Firefox to make it work properly.
You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue. -

When I open AOL email in Firefox, all I get is search bar Bing.
I downloaded the Firefox browser. I open a new tab and go to AOL. When I try to open one of my e-mails AOL, the body of the e-mail message contains just the search bar Bing, not the same body of the e-mail message. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but the problem persists.
This happened to us, we went to tools and then add-ons, scrolled down and found a Bing bar tools add, deleted and which corrects the problem.

The bar of menus must now appear permanently, unless you turn it off again (view > toolbars). Turn on/off the menu bar is a new feature in version 3.6.See the other bars under view > toolbars. By clicking on one of them will place a check mark (display) or remove the check mark (not shown).
Then, in the Menu bar, go to view-> toolbars-> customize, then press the Restore Default Set .
