Cannot open files with Windows XP media center edition .exe
Cannot open .exe with Windows XP media center edition files. Computer Dell did not come with a rear disc
Hi CLueking,
1. what happens when you try to open any .exe (executable) files? You get the error message?
2. you remember to make changes to the computer, after which the issue started?
I suggest trying the Microsoft Fixit and/or manual steps from the following links and check if it helps:
Diagnose and repair Windows files and folders problems automatically
You receive an error message when you try to start a program that has the an.exe file name extension
How to change or choose the program that starts when you double-click a file in Windows XP
I hope this helps.

Ehshell.exe error with Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002, service pack 3
Running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with service pack 3. I get the ehshell.exe error when I try to watch live TV. It crashes, debug and I usually won't have to ctrl-alt-del to get anywhere. Do not seem to have this problem before I added various updates etc, tv was fine before this date.
I'm not particularly computer so nice easy steps please...!
Thank you, Nicholas
Ehshell.exe is a Windows system file that is used to run Microsoft Media Center. It is not a critical system file. However, the ehshell.exe file can become infected and cause errors trying to run certain programs. If the ehshell.exe is absent, it can also cause errors. Reinstall a clean copy of ehshell.exe with the Microsoft System Restore.
- 1
Click on the "Start" menu, then click on "programs". Scroll down and click on "Accessories," then "system tools." Click "system restore."
- 2
Click 'Next' in the window system restore for a list of points of restoration which has been archived.
- 3
Select a restore point created before the ehshell.exe file becomes corrupt or got deleted. If no restore point until this time is listed, click on "Show restore points more" to select the one that is before this date. Click 'Next' to choose which restore point.
- 4
Click 'Finish' to start the system restore. The computer will restart once the process is complete and the ehshell.exe file is reinstalled.

Cannot open files with Windows XP 5.1 and Explorer 8.0 .dot
Recently, I tried to open a small graphics ending in .dot file. I have quoted me a Windows XP page with several options. I selected the option to use quickdrivers.com which eventually took me to the Regwork Software menu. She provided a scan of my XP files disclosing several registry errors. How to proceed? Is this 3rd viable third party software that will allow me to open .dot files. Or is there another recommended software? Advisor.
It very much looks like your computer is infected. You must be proactive and run now:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware
Regarding the .dot file, this is not a graphic file. A .dot file is a MS Word template file.
You do not want to use the scanners to register at all.

Hello
Hoping to get help with this, because I searched everywhere and had not found an answer. All the work around the items, reference Windows 7 and 8 not XP my Dell Dimension C521 shipped with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 pre installed. I've upgraded to SP3 of XP. A friend of mine gave me his old Xbox 360 (bought a new unit). When I try to connect to the XBox 360 I get an error message in media library "uninstall the update for media center 2005 and then re-install the update of the site Web of Windows update. Then, re-run Setup for Xbox 360'
I checked in my under settinds program control panel, but don't see any element for Media Center 2005, even with show checked all of the updates. I don't see Media player listed and 2 updates for it. I have disabled the Windows Firewall did not help. The Xbox 360 test shows that I can connect to the internet, Xbox Live (no NAT problems) and PC running Media Center. It fails on the media center connection test.
I don't want to reinstall all of the Dell backup image software supplied with the camera, I'll have to back up and start over. Any help is welcome!
Thank you

Why cannot open itunes with windows 10
Why cannot open iTunes with windows 10
For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. (Yes, I see that you've done that but maybe not the specific deletions which are mentioned).
Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.
More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

original title: error with ehshell.exe
I have Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and I tried to run Media Center but I get an error message with ehshell.exe. Could you help me?
This problem exists since the 1st Media Center. SP2 and SP3 had a difficulty, but it is obvious that it doesn't always. The same problem still exists in Vista today with a lot of other carried over from XP. System restore would work, but you do not have any good restore points so reinstall an operating system seems to be your only option.
You probably don't want to do an OS reinstall you need for Media Center, but since it does not at all, you might want to play then remove the Media Center updates and or SP3 and reinstall them.

Qosmio F30: How-to: Manual Installation of Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005
Manual installation of Windows Xp Media Center Edition laptop Toshiba Qosmio F30 computer 2005
Last updated October 3, 2006Important notes before starting:
1 - the steps used for "Toshiba Qosmio F30" and for others models Qosmio that comes with "Intel Centrino Duo" Cpu and Xp Media Center 2005 installed.
2. apply these steps if you have previous experience in the installation of Windows Xp, if you have that experience, then you can use the provided recovery CD to restore your system.
3 - Windows Xp Media Center Cd is not provided with your laptop, if you have the Cd you can purchase from many online shops and in this case you will get the product key valid Windows Xp which you'll not need (because you already have one, you will find in it a small sticker on the back of your laptop and you can activate your Windows with it).
In other words (you need for the first and the second Cd of Windows Xp Mce 2005 SP2 Oem).4. do not try to implement these measures on the other Versions of Windows Xp, use "Windows Xp Media Center Edition 2005 Sp2 Oem" only
5. you must have the Usb floppy drive to install "Toshiba Raid Controller", it can be installed that by having the driver on a floppy disk and pressing F6 during the setup of Windows Xp, if you do not install the Raid driver then will Windows Xp does not recognize your hard drive.

To install your recovery Cd Power on your laptop and the "F12" hold and use the arrow keys to select the icon of the CD to boot from the Cd.2. create the Toshiba Raid since the driver Cd driver, the Toshiba Raid driver must be added during the Installation of Windows XP when they are asked to "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or Raid Driver".
To do this, insert the Cd of ' Windows' drivers, it will run automatically or Run "Browser.Exe" inside the Cd The 'Raid Driver' and click on Select 'Installation', it will show you the Raid driver files, insert A Blank Floppy and copy the files in The Floppy 'To be sure that all the files be on the root of The Floppy' or to download the Toshiba RAID driver from the Toshiba web page download driver and extract the file zip on a diskette. Windows XP Media Center Edition computer will not start.
When it starts, I get a BootMagic screen that allows me to choose the normal Windows operating system or partition DOS6. The next screen is text offering choices such as: Safe Mode, last known good Windows, normal windows, etc. None of the choices do something else that restart the boot process.
I have backups of the C: drive in real Image files and ntbackup. I would like to make a bootable cd or dvd with the files needed to be able to copy the data on another dvd or on the local network to another computer. This computer was made by the gateway. No real installation CD were provided, just a "operating system Disk' which is of no use. The disk has been partitioned as C: D: K: etc. I added a 40 GB IDE drive, which is where half the data is I want back. I can 'see' readers when I boot from an old CD disk to Image, but may not see the LAN or write in the CD burner. Basically, should what files I put on a cd to boot?Well, almost a month since the gateway computer's dead, and I do not have anything on it. Spent a lot more time for the new computer with Windows 7 to run my most used programs: WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3. According to me, that you gave me a choice when I reinstalled Windows 7 to use either 64 or 32-bit. If I had a choice, it is 64. At this point, I wish I had chosen 32, due to all the incompatibilities resulting in 64. I doubt that there are real benefits for me. One thing they point out is his ability to deal with > 4 GB of RAM. This computer has 2.
What I installed was XP HP discs received with a laptop period of 2002. Probably violates some policy Windows, but my rationalization was that bridge should have on giving me the opportunity to re - install the Windows XP Media Center edition. I prefer to get this OS works because it has a smooth operation built in encryption system.
I tried to use the provided gateway recovery cd again, but not long after starting it fails with a 'memory overflow, please insert another disk' message. Gateway support has not been cooperative, so I can try again. I think that they have it for me.The XP system is running on a 40 GB IDE drive that I had added to the computer. There are too many error messages trying to install an operating system on theoriginal 250 GB SATA drive. Usually the installation of software did not see the SATA drive. He is currently disconnected. It work pretty well in the new computer from HP in the 2nd SATA slot for to retrieve me my data.
