What hard drives are supported for Satellite 5100-201

Hello!

My drive is making some strange noises, might he have one foot in the grave...
Have the latest bios 1.9. and the original at 30 GB disk.
Have a Hitachi 40 GB I tried with, but the laptop did not.
So I would like to know what drives and formats supported for this model.

Thanks in advance!

Hello

Very strange did you use a compatible 40 GB HDD?
To my knowledge, the laptop must be able to recognize the 40 GB HARD drive.
As far as I know the 30 GB HARD drive that was installed is a Toshiba MK3017GAP and the computer supports a HDD of 20, 30, 40 or 60 GB.

I think that these disc HARD must be compatible:
Toshiba HDD2171B 40 GB HARD drive
HITACHI G8BC00009110 40 GB HARD DRIVE
Toshiba HDD2183B 60GB

PS: The strange noise from the HARD drive could be the beginning of the end
So make a backup of the data.

    Hello

    Satellite L300 supports SATA HDD!
SATA controller having no physical limit, you should be able to use any HARD drive 2.5 SATA. So, for example, a 500 GB 2.5 SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive should be compatible.

  • Satellite A200-1N2 what HARD drive are supported?

I have an A200-1N2, with the original 120GB hard drive.
I would like to upgraded to a larger capacity HARD internal disk.
Can you please me, whose internal hard disk capacities and types (only IDE?) are supported?

    Thank you very much!!
    Leor

    > Can you please tell me, what capacity internal hard drive and types (only IDE?) are supported?
First of all, for all IDE HDD is NOT supported, because the laptop supports the SATA HDD controller. Therefore, use of SATA 2.5 hard disks.

Given that the SATA controller is not limited to any size, you should be able to use any HARD drive 2.5 SATA.

I agree with Akuma. You need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
The SATA controller is compatible downwards, which means you can use a HARD SATA II in SATA drive I have controller.

    Hello

He s not what HARD drive manufacturer that is of importance.
    Important is only that you use the HARD disk that supports the specifications on the right;

The laptop supports the SATA controller to use the SATA HDD.

Look for a SATA 2.5 5400 RPM drive HARD 120 GB or 160 GB

  • This replacement of hard drives are supported by the Satellite P30?

    Hello
My P30 came with a HARD disk that rotates at 4500 rpm of 80 GB. I really need a floppy that can write and access data fast enough for video editing (rendered) and multi track audio recording.

Are there alternative products that can improve the performance of my computer? I have already ordered 2 GB of RAM.
Would a Hitachi Travelstar 7K 100 works with my device?

I guess you mean the Hitachi Travelstar 7K 100 100 GB drive HARD 7200 RPM 8 MB cache 2, drive HARD 5Zoll.
I think you can use the HARD disk with the following properties:

    hard drive 9.5 mm with capacity 30 GB/40 GB/60 GB / 80 / 100GB / 120GB
    Bus Master IDE
    Support 100 synchronous DMA Ultra

Disk HARD 7200prm will produce more heat but perhaps the laptop could handle this. Otherwise you will get some overheating shutdown downs.

  • What HARD drive can I use Satellite A60-125

    Hello!
I would like to know what type of hard drive I can install on my satellite A60 (Pentium 4 3.00 Ghz) to upgrade the original Hitachi 40 GB. Can I install a 160/200 GB 2.5 "of any type (brand, RPM, capacity,...) or there are some limitations of the bios? Thank you.

    Hello Ric

There is unfortunately no public on this matter document because Toshiba does not support upgrade. Toshiba gives some info on built in hardware and also on the RAM max that can be used. Upgrade takes care of disk HARD authorized partner in your country, and they have exact information on this subject.

Yes I think there is limitation in the BIOS, but I'm sure that you can use up to 100 GB HARD drive, maybe more, but as I said it is not easy to find info on any official page of Toshiba.

If you are lucky someone will post here the news of A60 laptop upgrade. Until then try to contact find some information online. Google all over the place.

  • Which hard drive Solid State for Satellite Pro L670?

I have a Satellite Pro L670, I need to configure for presentation and having to re - load operating system anyway.

Rather than write the existing drive too much, I thought that it would be best to get a second to adapt instead.
Replace the current (obsolete) rotation drive with a solid state, it seems to me the best way to go.
Has anyone equipped with a hard drive to a Satellite Pro?

For budget reasons, I plan to go for a capacity of 120 GB that will be enough.

However, I've yet to discover at Toshiba they could recommend. Anyone else gone this route?

    Hello

Theoretically, any SATA SSD drive should be compatible because the laptop supports a SATA controller.
But in some cases, it might be possible that an SSD would not be treated properly. In such cases, SDD drive manufacturers provide different firmware updates

So before buying an SSD drive check the support pages of the manufacturers of SSDS for more details would perhaps have a firmware update

  • Qosmio G30 - what HARD disk are compatible for an upgrade

    Hey guys,.

I would like to upgrade the HARD drive in my G30 and don't know what's compatible.
At present, they are readers of stocks 120 GB MK1234GSX.

I foung the MK3252GSX (250GB) but it is ATA8, while current drives are ATA7.
    Is this a problem?

No one knows what larger capacity disks I can enter the G30?

    See you soon
    Gerald

What you need is a SATA HDD.
The G30 supports SATA controllers and that's why you should use hard drives SATA (and not the IDE)

    > I found the MK3252GSX (250GB) but it is ATA8, while current drives are ATA7.
    Is this a problem?
The new interface of ATA8 is faster than the ATA7 (133 MB/s) but it s compatible down to other ATA standards. Therefore, you can use the disk HARD of ATA8 too.

    > Anyone know what larger capacity disks I can enter the G30?
I don't know if you will be able to insert big hard drives 250 GB due to the limitation of the BIOS, but someone said that a 320 might be compatible as Mr. but I never tested tough, so I really don t know if it s true or not.

    Hello

All hard drives 2.5 SATA must be compatible, since there is no physical limitation of the SATA HDD controller.
So, theoretically, you could take a 500 GB 2.5 SATA HDD.

  • Tecra 8100: This HARD drive is supported for the upgrade?

I want to improve the HD in a laptop Tecra 8100. However I can't find the HD player required to do this.

Someone suggest where I can look?

Hey Buddy, your notebook computer is an oldie.
As far as I remember that the computer is about 6 years old.
At that time, the supported laptop, 6GB, 8GB, 12GB, 15 GB, 18 GB, 20 GB HARD drive, and the disk 20 GB HARD is, in my view, a maximum size. More is not possible.

I found kits of HARD drive you could use:
    PA3012U - 1 H 06 6 GB hard drive Kit II
    PA3027U - 1 H 12 12 GB hard drive Kit II
    PA3029U - 1:18 18 GB hard drive Kit II

I would like to replace my old combo CD DVD drive SD-R6112 installed on a portable computer A30 satellite in a new player. (another drive that could burn DVDs faster and burn DVDs double layer if possible).

Do you know what model I could buy to replace my old SD-R6112 default?

    Hello guys
Is that you will have a player with the settings /slave or c - salt straight masters.
Readers is not compatible with the wrong settings would not be recognized by the BIOS.
You should also know that these parameters is not modifiable as external hard disk passing riders.
This is why I would really recommend ask the ASP in your country for compatible devices.
I studied a bit on the net and found these:
