Cannot open my D800 Nikon NEF files

I'm on Mac OX 10.6.8 13.6.1 Photoshop x 64, Camera Raw 7.1.0354 and Lightroom 4.4.

Now, Camera Raw and Lightroom will not open my D800 Nikon raw files. Why is this!?

My iMac is 2006 model year, and cannot be upgraded to the Mavericks (thanks Apple!)

I did not worth it to upgrade my Nikon software from the disc that came with the camera!

Is there a disk? Did not notice

Anyway, there is no reason to use any Nikon software to import the files, Lightroom that will do everything as well.

  • Cannot open my d7100 nikon nef files in photoshop

Hi, I use lightroom 5 and photoshop cs5 with my nikon d90, I could edit in photoshop, now with my photoshop d7100 opens but the image doesn't. I checked all of the updates and they say I'm updating. camera raw seems to be to 6.7 and I don't know how can I update to 8,71? I think so

This is a misleading answer, Gerard - the question is not on the gross support se. LR 5 supports the D7100, so there is no problem convert the files and therefore not necessary to recommend the DNG Converter. The Photoshop files will for the edition will be in tiff, anyway.

Andrew, you you must update Photosho to get the native support "in Edit"... ». Gautam is just do to point out that you need ACR 7.4, and is not compatible with the 5 PS: but that's all you need to do - references to convert files to DNG are not relevant here.

  • ACR 9.3.1 cannot correctly display of Nikon NEF files in 2015 CC PS with Win 10

I use Photoshop CC 2015 in Windows 10.  I just upgraded to 9.3.1 9.1 ACR ACR.    Unfortunately, my Nikon NEF raw files are not displayed correctly now.   Each photo NAVE is represented by a yellow rectangle on a blue rectangle.  I reinstalled back ACR 9.1 and everything displayed correctly. But then I have not access to the Dehaze feature in ACR 9.3.1. Help, please.

    Hi robertf,

Please update the ACR 9.3.1 version once fact. Reference: Camera Raw Installer for Adobe Photoshop CC and CS6

    Open Photoshop< go="" to="" preferences="">< camera="" raw="" preferences="">< uncheck="" the="" graphics="">

Reboot and try the ACR 9.3.1

  • Why used PS CS5 open a D600 Nikon NEF files

I have PS CS5 and I recently updated my camera to a Nikon D600. I shoot in RAW, and when I tried to open the photos to change, the PS said I had to update my Camera Raw plugin. I found the most recent plugin for CS5 and pictures will not always open

What should I do to make them work? I have to bite the bullet and upgrade to CS6 or is there a way around it?

    Help, please!

Camera Raw 7.3 was the first version to fully support the Nikon D600

    Camera Raw 7 + requires Photoshop CS6 +.

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html

You must either upgrade to Photoshop CS6 (to open and edit your Raw files) or convert your D600 files to DNG with the free Adobe's DNG Converter and change the DNG

  • Cannot open Raw of Nikon D7200 files in Photoshop. How do I do that?

I can't open the Raw format photos taken with my Nikon D7200. What should I do?

What version of Photoshop you have and what version of Camera Raw? You need to camera raw 9.0 or higher, which means you need to CS6 or superior. Otherwise, you will need to use the free DNG Converter. Also, do not use Nikon software to upload your images. He has been corrupting the files so PS is unable to open them, especially with this camera model.

  • Question CS5 Raw [cannot open Raw of Nikon D750 files]

I just bought a new Nikon D750. I dona all updates and I still have problems with Photoshop recognizing my new camera raw files. I have Photoshop CS5 v 12.1 and the raw plug is 6.7, which, according to what I read here are the versions I should have. But still problems.

    Hi MandoMan,

The camera Nikon D750 is supported with Camera Raw 8.7 and above.

So, you need to update to Photoshop or you can download and install the DNG Converter.

  • Cannot open Raw of Nikon D600 files

I installed my second copy of the CS6 PS on my laptop. Update said everything is up-to-date, but does not open the D600 files. (They do it on my desktop). I tried a manual uplaod of 7.3 RTAs (impossible to see 7.4 which is there). Failed installation. What to do next?

No one can say anything with some system info. as a first step, run the Creative Suite cleanup tool, reinstall PS and try again.

  • Is it possible to upload PSE10 D800 Nikon NEF files?

I have improved as he had the camera listed in the raw of 6.6 download. I feel torn, really.

Are saying you that you have updated to 6.6, and you can't open them? You don't have to go to the editor > help > updates and let ACR update, right?

EDIT, but the D800 is not listed as a supported camera. Where did you read that it was?

When you re-installed Photoshop, you also re-installed the version of Camera Raw comes with Photoshop - in other words came back you to an old version of Camera Raw, which does not support the D5100.

    Hi mikegcross,

Nikon D7200 files are not supported in Lightroom 4.4

Yes, it would work very well after that the Lightroom CC/6 upgrade or you can use Adobe DNG Converter to convert these files to DNG and then import into Lightroom.

  • Problem with opening of Nikon NEF files

    Separated from this thread.

I have the same problem with a single Nikon reflect the lens of the camera.  He said that it is a NEF file type.  And windows media player does not recognize and cannot play.  Help, please.

    Hello

NEF files are owner of Nikon RAW format and cannot be opened in Windows Media Player.

You have a few options, including:

    • Download and install Nikon ViewNX2 which can open NEF files.
    • Install Microsoft Camera Codec Pack which will then allow your NEF files to be perceived as file/Windows Explorer and the Windows Photo Gallery (check your camera for taking pictures is listed in the Details section, or it may not work). The links are:

Microsoft Camera Codec Pack  (Windows Vista/Windows 7)

Microsoft Camera Codec Pack (Windows 8.1)

    • Use the photo editing software owner (with necessary plug-ins installed if necessary) to open and edit NEF images.

When you open an NEF image in an application, you should then be able to record it in a much more widely supported such as JPG image format. There will be a loss of quality when you do well, but still, good results can be obtained.  Once in JPG format (for example), Windows Media Player will be able to open the images.

If you don't want to use NEF files in the future, your camera should be able to take/save directly the images in JPG format. Check the settings of your camera.
