Cannot open programs directly, goes to a screen "open with."

I am trying to open a Microsoft Works Task Launcher and it goes to a screen "open with." How can I fix it?

Hello

This problem occurs when your .exe file associations are broken. This is usually caused by malicious software that changes the default file associations in Windows. Follow these instructions to resolve this problem:
Download exeHelper from one of these two links: link 1, link 2 double-click exeHelper to run the fix. A black window should appear. Once the patch is finished, press any key to close.

Then try following the steps in this virus/malware removal guide: http://www.selectrealsecurity.com/malware-removal-guide
It contains instructions which will remove most malware infections. If you have any questions, just ask me. I hope this helps you.

  • Cannot open with photoshop CS2 image

I got this camera, Canon 50 d, for little more than two years.

Now it's time to start working with Raw image and cannot open the image with Photoshop.

But I could open me with EOS utility for working with Photoshop.

Thanks for reading and tips pleae

Photoshop CS2 will never be directly open a Canon EOS - 50 d raw file.  The raw files of each device are different and your camera has been designed after the Photoshop CS2, Camera Raw application has stopped to receive updates.

    This list is relevant:

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/Creative-Suite/KB/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

That said, there is a free solution that will allow you to open your pictures indirectly.

    • Whenever you have a folder full of 50 d raw images run the DNG Converter on the folder to convert all files to DNG.  You will need to select the appropriate compatibility setting.
    • You can now open the DNG files with Camera Raw in Photoshop CS2 converter.

Either way, the latest version of Photoshop Camera Raw Converter offers better quality images, then you want may be mobile until Photoshop CS6.  Unfortunately, you will have to pay full price; it's not Photoshop CS2-> discount CS6 upgrade.

  • App cannot open with built in Administrator account

    Hello JoeD.Thomas,

These are the conditions to be able to run applications.

Make sure your screen resolution is at least 1024 x 768

Make sure that the (UAC) user account control is enabled. Press the Windows key and from the splash screen, type UAC, and on the right, select settings.  Select change user account control settings and check here.

You can clear the Cache store to see if it helps. :
Right click on the start screen.
    Click run.
    Type of WSReset.exe

If this does not work then try to run the System File Checker
Run the System File Checker to see if any corrupt system files.
    1. type cmd on the start screen.
    2. right-click on it and select run as administrator.
3 type the following command and press ENTER: SFC/scannow

The problem with the built-in Administrator account is that it automatically ignores the user account control settings, and it is required to run the Apps Store.

You must turn on User Account Control (UAC).

Open Control Panel / user accounts.

Select the change user account control settings.

The cursor must be on 3rd down option.

After you make a change, click OK .

  • Definition of the version of CS by default to open with Windows

When I installed CS5 on my PC under Windows XP, it automatically become the default to open all my .indd files.  I wasn't quite ready to switch so I used "open with...". "going back to CS3, it gave me two options of CS3 and CS5 at the top of the list.  Now, I want to change it back in CS5 but cannot, 'Open with'... dialog box looks like this with only CS3 at the top of the list:

    2010-06-14_170209.png

When I click Browse and go to CS5 it doesn't, probably because CS3 and CS5 are both called Indesign.exe.  Checking the "use of the always...» "did not help either.  I can fix with a reinstall, but it would be nice to be able to reverse the default, I might want to open a batch of files in CS3.

I know Soxy will do, but it's frustrating not being able to make such a simple change in Windows.  Soxy will not install for me anyway, but it's another problem...

Someone knows how to fix this?

I'm on a frenzy of feature request: "File extensions to change from version to version, please.

  • After a black screen with a cursor, the performed system restore, now cannot open programs, USB drive

Original title: Windows 7 Home Edition

Yesterday, my pc only has a black screen with a cursor. I tried to restore on another point but then after starting upwards and put my password, I get the home screen but cannot open any programs. I can't use the USB stick or cd / dvd drive so how should proceed to solve this? I can't put my external modem to make a back up and I really want to fix this without losing all the data on my pc. I can run programs in safe mode and windows installation disc opens in SafeMode as well, however I can't set safe mode.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Cannot open programs from the internet, like Yahoo, icons on the screen or a task bar.

Since IE8 download, programs online, such as Yahoo, won't open with a single or a double click.  I have to type prog address area address each time.  I've deleted and reinstalled affected shortcuts without success.  I understand the msg each time: "this file has no program associated with it. Create an association in the Folder Options Control Panel"but it does not work as there is no selection for this in the Control Panel folder Options, which I find in

    "Control Panel".

    -' Folder options '.

Computerized programs, such as Word and EXEL normally open with a single click in the task bar.

    All was well with IE7.

  • Cannot open some files and programs

I have windows 7, some of my files and programs will be open (ie. Recycle Bin, computer, libraries). They are sent to the windows Explorer file in the task bar. I can see what is in the file when I put the cursor over them, but cannot open them. I can close the files once in windows Explorer and when I reduce they seem to come on the screen.  It was not always thus and I don't know how to fix this or why it's happening.

    Hello

It may be an idea to run the Windows system restore.  If you have Norton Internet Security installed, you should disable Norton Tamper Protection as described in step 2, on the link below.

    http://us.Norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web & docURL = 20091112171719EN & LN = en_US

Once you are done, turn off the PC.  Windows system restore is usaully better run in Mode without failure.  Tap away at f8 that you start the PC to enter the Windows Recovery Console.  Use the arrow keys to select Safe mode and press ENTER.  When it has loaded, on the Start Menu, click principally made programs, accessories, click System Tools and run the system restore.  Choose a restore point at least 3 days prior (or a previous version if available) the problem and then proceed to the restoration.  When you are finished, Windows will restart normally.

  • Cannot open files (desktop programs) *.exe

When I try to open .exe files I get a message error that says "this file doesn't have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options Control Panel. " I went to control panel > tools > folder options > file types and tried to put 'exe' to 'demand', but that doesn't seem to work. Funny enough, I am able to open other types of programs such as pictures, videos and files PDF and if I open a file html directly, I can open Firefox, but I can't open firefox.exe directly. I want to run an antivirus program or malware-check software, but of course, I can't open any .exe files.

I am running Windows XP SP3 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Before you answer, please note the specific language in my error message. I want to emphasize that this link does not solve my problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837334.

  • Cannot open programs using the icons on the desktop

    Hello

I just noticed that I can not access the internet directly by clicking on the icon. a window opens asking for me to choose the program I want to use to open IE.  He would then run the program but nothing happens and it goes in circles asking to select a program to open, run, etc.

Soon I noticed that clicking on other applications would result in an error message saying "Application not found".  I can't remove programs from my control panel because it is inaccessible, I can't open Microsoft Office programs directly unless I go to my computer.  I can't do a system recovery or restoration; the same messages will pop up. So basically, I can't make any changes to my desktop or access directly programs.  Help, please.

  • Why do I get the "open with" screen every time I try to open a program?

Whenever I try to open a program it shows full-screen. As for example... I opened firefox and it comes up with the open with screen so I take the option of firefox, then it said Open firefox.exe. He said: ' you have chosen to open firefox.exe which is a: application to: C:\program files\mozilla firefox would you like to save this file? "so I press Cancel because it's my only option and then I can use it. So if I try to open anything up as OBJECTIVE online, I get an error message saying "application not found" I push OK and then work.

    Hello

    · What is the number and the model of the computer?

    · Do you remember all the recent changes on the computer before the show?

    · What is the service pack installed?

    1. try the steps listed in the link below: cannot open files with extensions such as.exe, .com, and.lnk on a Windows XP computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923077

    2. online virus scanner and check if any malware or virus detected on the computer activity. You can run the scan for viruses online from the link below: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

NOTE: Make sure that you select the correct version of the operating system before downloading the scanner)

    Hi Robert K B,.

It seems that the file on your computer is corrupted, and the default program to open files is set to Adobe Reader.

Method 1: As a first step of troubleshooting, you can uninstall Adobe Reader and check if the file associations are defined by default.

    Method 2:
Once you uninstall Adobe on your computer, follow these steps to resolve the problem:

    a. Click Start, click Run, and type command

    b. type the following commands one by one:

    cd\windows
    Regedit

    c. If the Registry Editor opens successfully, then navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ exefile-shell-open-command

    d. double-click the (default) value in the right pane.

    e. delete the current value data, and then type:

    "%1" %*
    (ie., quote-percent-one-quote-space-percent-asterisk.)

    f. navigate to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe

    • In the right pane, set (default) exefile

    g. quit the registry editor.

    Check if this helps you.
