Cannot restore my satellite P300-194

Hi all, please help me.

My laptop came with windows vista and I formatted it the installation of windows 7, but I kept the folder HDDRecovery, as well as the file next to him. Is there a way I can reset it to factory settings? I just want to plant back in place.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad English!

Best regards

Pedro Tiago

After installing OS clean your laptop doesn't have factory settings more and HARD drive recovery facility can be made with only factory settings.

    Hi all

I have recently reinstalled windows 7 on my Satellite P300-1FN and after a few minor problems, it was working fine.
I blocked some drivers and updates, then it prompted me to restart.

I turned it off and left while I had lunch, then tried to start and nothing happened.
I mean nothing, not even the power led comes on. I put the battery in which I know has at least half a load and nothing.

    It is quite dead.

    > I mean nothing, not even the power led lights up.
    Sounds not good man

Sounds like the motherboard or CPU problem because no s lights are on.

    But try this;
Unplug the power adapter, remove the battery, wait some time (2-4 hours) and reconnect the two parts.
Check if you could power the unit in place.

If this is not possible then I would recommend contacting a professional technician to ASP.

Sorry, but that's all I can suggest

    Hello

    > What utility isChkdsk. Is this due to a virus?

CHKDSK (CheckDisk) is a Microsoft disk utility that verifies the integrity of your file system and disk blocks.

    > The file error quisecalcule: Files\Adobe\help\en-us\adobe Reader\8.0\images\tm.gif is corrupt

Recently, he was the user with almost the same Adobe error. http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=54330&TSTART=0

It looks like something wrong with Vista (scratched/dusty) disk and cannot copy files in C: /.

You have Windows Vista disk (not recovery one) to try to install

  • Cannot restore my Satellite L670

    OK, let's go...

I have a Tosh Satellite L670 with all the trimmings of toshiba, including the center of recovery and the recovey disc image hidden. Everything is good so far. Until the I had a failed drive :( So, no toshiba Recovery Center and no image factory. And, being a developer of software (not a technician of material), I not create a recovery DVD set.

Stupidly, I have not around him, so my bad.

I managed to get a Windows7 bootable disk, got a DOS command and successful guest to reformat the main disk and boot sector. Then I had the image of another, very similar, Toshiba, loaded this image, re-registered windows 7 and got the girl back up and running. Obviously, I have still problems such as the images are a little inconsistent, but I have a system that works, so I can go online and do the normal stuff, but I wanted to put it to its factory settings. I had reset disks for my make and model was sent to me by toshiba (for a price, of course).

Instructions for use the factory reset disks are very simple. Place the disc in the dvd drive, shut down the laptop, restart, press F12 and select "Boot from DVD.

Done that... Did not work :( The message I get is that the boot DVD failed.

Now, my problem is that I have (allegedly) 2 factory reset disks provided by Toshiba and no way to use them. I did a little research, and the files on the disks (files of stormwater management) appear to be split system (WIMS) windows image, so I downloaded the Windows System Image Manager to see if I could use that to reload the original image. He didn't recognize them as image files.

I'm inclined to believe that a utility back (IMAGEX.exe) might do the trick, but I'm not convinced (do not know what is happening to use, don't know how to restore 'split' image files, do not believe that I can run while Windows7 runs the disk I want to reload the image for, etc.).

Thus, any help or advice would be appreciated, especially Toshiba (if they can tell me why do not work the 'instructions').

    Thank you

    Hello Rico

It's a really bad situation now. Generally, if the recovery disc is created correctly it should work. It is not designed for some kind of manipulation, and either it works or not. I don t think you can do something about it.

Please try to use it several times and if the same mistake happen again and again I recommend you contact Avato and explain the situation.

Orientation of Toshiba? Here on the user forum? Forget it. All you can do is contact the Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for help or advice.

I agree with Timox. There is not much you can do about it.
There is no mechanism to have direct influence on the HARD drive installation procedure.

Try again. You may be lucky and recovery installation will start correctly.

  • Cannot restore my Satellite C850

    Hello

I tried to install Windows 7 on my new laptop (instead of the 8 of Windows it came with) using a DVD to boot. First of all, I had to disable Secure Boot, then changed to CSM Boot UEFI boot to get the laptop to recognize the DVD (using advice found on the Toshiba Forum of Support). The installation seemed to go OK until I got to where I wanted to install the copy of Windows 7. He said that I could not install it on the main partition because "the selected disc is the GPT partition style.

So I deleted the primary partition and then recreated it. I did this using the options, delete, new then format. But he still wouldn't let me install on the main partition, saying: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style. So I decided to not touch a plus and resigned myself using Windows 8. The problem is that I cannot now recover the PC because when I try to use the Reset PC option in the recovery section (press 0 on boot up) it says: "cannot retrieve your PC. A required disk partition is missing. »
Now I can not use the laptop at all. Can someone help me please?

I read online that I could get Windows 7 by removing all parttions with GParted and then re-create a new partition table and a new primary partition with it. However, I am very wary of deleting the recovery partition, in which case I do more damage. I want Windows 7 on, but at this point, I limit myself to what I can get. There is probably a solution to my problem. I do not understand the purpose of hard disk, partition well enough to trust in no more tinkering with the hard drive. I installed Windows 7 on my previous laptop using the method, I've talked about above. The problem seems to be the new UEFI / GPT system.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you very much
    Chris

Did you create recovery media until you started to install the clean version of the OS?
I mean to do. If this isn't the case, you have the problem because you will not be able to do it again.
If you want to have the notebook to factory settings (Win8) once again you use the recovery disk.
Anyway, you can order it on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Back to the installation of the OS. A few months ago I installed Win7 on my U940 and on the same stage I ve removed all existing partitions and create the new partition of 100 GB. If I m remembering for the installation of the OS, I ve just choose this partition and installed Win7 on it. More later using option in disk management I ve created another partition.

In the end, I must say that installing Win7 on my preinstalled Win8 machine was very simply and without any problems.

  • Cannot restore my Satellite L500 - 19 X

    Hi guys,.

    I recently bought a new Satellite L500 - 19 X.
Had no real problems, until the battery died last night and now it won't start Windows at all.

When I turn it on it comes up with "Start Windows normally" and "Launch Startup Repair tool" options. If I try to fix loads some files then goes to a black screen with the mouse. If I start windows normally he tries a fair bit and goes back to these two options.

From what I've seen a lot of people have had similar problems, o all of sugested solutions have been in vain for me however.

Could not load safe mode. Tried using the recovery disk that was provided and that brings just the same black screen with the cursor. Also tried booting the system without the bttery etc., which also did not work.

I am (or at least try to run) running windows 7, which is already installed on the hard drive.

For any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Ive pretty much has everything well tried.

Bravo for your time. Any help would be great.

    Hello

Hmm. you have a courier flashing in the upper left corner?
It looks more like a HARD drive problem or a partition

    But try this:
    Switch on and press F8.
Then choose fix my computer and then choose (if possible) HARD drive recovery.

If this is not possible then go into the BIOS and check if the HARD drive is recognized (all details should appear).
If the HARD drive is not recognized, then this would mean that your HARD drive is defective.

If the HARD drive is recognized then it might be something wrong with a partition on the HARD drive

In this case, you can try to create a WinPE bootable system diskette:
    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Preinstallation_Environment

Then the could format the HARD drive again and after that who could use the recovery disk to reinstall Windows 7.

    Welcome them

As far as I know the recovery disk costs about 30

But to my knowledge its always recommended to create the _recovery disk_ when you use the notebook for the first time that I read it in my user manual, so it should be mentioned in your manual too

I use the recovery disk that came with the laptop when I bought it. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel for me?

Yes, it seems to have failed at the early stage when it copies the files from the recovery disk on your hard drive recovery partition.

My immediate thought is that, since the recovery process appears not to have gotten very far he haven't formatted the partition on which your operating system and files are located.

-What caused you to run the recovery disk in the first place?

-Have you tried to start windows normally? If you can start windows there are more opportunities for tools to run in a more easy way.

-Can you press F8 during startup and enter the system recovery menu?

Also please give model No. computer laptop for example L750-201, which is located on the underside of the laptop and what operating system, it has on it. for example, Windows 7.

  • How to restore Vista on old Satellite P300?

    Sorry it's a long.

I bought a new P70 to replace my old P300 that came with Vista and I now want to give it a new facility for the children to use. The problem is that I had partitioned the disk and had tested the betta and the version RC1 of Windows 7 before its release and he also had XP, now I can't get on the recovery drive holding the 0 key and did not have the repair option on the splash screen advanced when using the F12 key. I know that the Recovery partition is still there because I saw it when using a disk partitioning tool before you make changes and I'm deleting it.

After what I read I think that drive hidden (EISA Configuration) that holds the BCD, stored options for the 0 key and the menu key F12. I made backup discs when I arrived at the origin of the laptop and checked well records, but when I went to use it, they have been declared as corrupt so the only other option I had was the images I made with another program but cannot boot from the disc I made and I guess it's because of SATA drivers Win 7 could not be started or until what I injected drivers, just do not remember how I got them in the disk imaging.

So, if anyone knows where the option for the 0 key is stored, and I assume it's in the BCD himself, someone know how to recover it or re - write? The other option I can think is how the recovery partition is enabled and try to do otherwise. My oldest son has a more recent P300, is it possible to copy the BCD and its player hidden files to start mine? The other thing is when you restore from the recovery partition you need a Windows product key or is already stored on the recovery partition because I can never remember having seen one and I'm not one for my new P70.

    Any ideas?

After these modifications and tests with your P300, you will not be able to use the HARD drive recovery facility more. This works if the laptop has only factory settings.

Now, there's only one way to install the original use of Vista recovery disks. I m afraid you didn't create these disks, right?

Anyway, Satellite P300 is well known to me and my brother has the same machine. We updated with new SSD and installed Win7 on it. It works like a rocket. So my advice to you is to install Win7 on this machine. All the necessary drivers, the tools and the utilities that you can find on the download page of Toshiba - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

If you need help with it let me know.
One more thing: the product key at the bottom belongs to the original version of Vista and it cannot be used for activation Win7.

  • Satellite P300 - 18 M - Windows Setup cannot continue

Hi, my first post here, hoping for any help.

I recently bought a Satellite P300 - 18 M, from an independent retailer with no return policy. good on the PC is a brand new, sealed, etc and I get the Toshiba standard warranty.
When I do the initial installation I received a message all in settng upward of Windows Vista Home "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Windows Setup cannot continue. To install windows click on 'OK' to restart the computer announced then rstart installation. »
I tried a few times more full-time catering and the third HARD drive it installed, but...
either he starts, I get to the password screen then all invent locks, the mouse pointer freezes then the screen becomes full of horizontal lines.

    or

I've had a few times in windows for a few minutes (2-5 minutes) then the mouse pointer freezes, 3 seconds later the entire screen is full of horizontal lines, everything locked can only turn off the coast.
Toshiba software error, so no warranty claim and advised that I buy the DVD (£29.90) that I ordered it, on a delivery of 14 days of recovery.

Any other help or suggestions much appreciated as im not confident of this DVD, being a brand new sealed unit, why corript of Vista in the first place.

    Thanks in advance

    Andy

    Hello

In my view, that the P300 is equipped with the ability to drive HARD recovery. This means that you could restore the operating system of the image that is stored on the HARD drive.
To do this, you will need to power the laptop and must press the F8 key.

A start menu should appear, then you should choose the first option called fix my computer.
Then, you must choose the option called Toshiba HDD recover or something like that. It should be the last option.
This procedure helps you reinstall Vista again.
This facility could be that you can burn the own recovery disk using the preinstalled software called Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

But if the recovery of HARD drive does not work you will need to use your orderly recovery DVDs and have to restore it again.
If the laptop will not properly work after using Recovery then DVDs I recommend to contact the ASP again and to explain the whole story.

    Good luck
