Cannot restore previous session after the option to "remember the story never".

I want to restore saved windows and tabs. I have reset the feature of confidentiality "Not the story never forget" and restarted Firefox once. Visiting realize my error I did a backup of the file sessionrestore.bak, then tried to restore using "about: sessionrestore. This brings the page session restore, but without any prior tag. Edit the sessionrestore.bak file, I can see the script in the old tabs. There are a few changes I can make to this file to force the tabs reappear in Session Restore?

If you select never "history don't forget" then you are in incognito mode and no data of this session is saved to disk and cannot be restored.

You must select "Remember history" and possibly to use choice custom to inspect tweak settings.

Is they are in the file sessionstore.bak and they are not restored, and then search for the recently closed tabs or windows, but you first have to go out of the PB mode to make it possible to restore the tabs.

I can change options such as load blank page. Restart the system, load firefox and get the previous sessions. I look at the options and they say load blank page. also fails the same way for the home page.

Note that your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some preferences whenever you launch Firefox.

The user.js file appears only if you or another software created, therefore, normally, he wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor if you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever you launch Firefox and initializes the preferences to the value specified in this file, so set of preferences via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

Delete a possible user.js file and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

Rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-# .js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Closed (back) tabs get lost and note the sessionstore.js deletion will cause App Tabs and tab groups and open.

  • Restart the PC under Windows XP, Firefox Sessions restore previous Session, not the last one I closed Firefox on.

I formatted my PC and re-installed Firefox I saved application data about the configuration of firefox, after having reinstalled everything on pc and install firefox I can see my old tabs from last session, but when I say delete and or to make new tabs and option tools States still show my windows and last time labels , I then restart my pc and when firefox loads again the session is loaded from a former session before the format, I have create new sessions and the Firefox saves when I close and open them but whenever I restart my pc it still load pre format sessions. How can I make normal firefox once again without wiping my application data, passwords and settings and re - install the program? There must be a way.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the profile folder of Firefox that store session data.

Delete the sessionstore.js file possible sessionstore-# .js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Delete sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and tab groups and opened and closed the tabs (back) to get lost, so you will need to create them again (take note or bookmarks).

  • Restoration of session after the crash window is missing several windows and tabs when restoring

I opened Firefox after a reboot and it suddenly crashed (not yet create a crash report). When I opened it, even once, he brought me up to the Session Restore error page and I click on restore. Unfortunately, it has not restored all my windows and tabs and I was missing three tabbed windows. I tried to put the Session Restore error page and it was empty.

Fortunately, I was able to recover a previous version of sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak. However, when I copied them in the profile folder, it just opens a window of my home page. I don't know what is happening here. Could someone (Firefox Tech Support) please look at these files to see what is happening? I really need these three windows!

In general, FireFox will behave in 1 of 3 ways when restarting after a stoppage.

    1 kill Shutdown
This occurs when the FireFox process ends with a TerminateProcess() appeal or if the process of FireFox crashes. It's a dirty, no cleaning is done. When restarting after this FireFox will show a dialog "well, this is embarrassing' with options to restore the items selected from the previous session.

    2 force Shutdown
This occurs when another process ask FireFox to shut down cleanly (for example, a reboot of the PC) by a call to ExitProcessEx() and does not ask confirmation of the user. Normally, when this type of shutdown happens, Firefox will just restore all tabs and sessions without asking. However if Firefox is set automatically delete the history on shutdown, it may not. I suspect that this is your case. I would suggest to the FF team remove that history should be ignored in this case, only a stop of the user must delete the history.

    3 judgment of the user.
That's when said user Firefox close (by selecting exit or by closing all the tabs etc...). Confirmation is requested to close all tabs (if enabled and more than 1 tab is open). When the computer reboots, nothing is restored.

Unfortunately, if you have enabled clear auto history, there is no way to recover the previous session. I'm sorry.

  • How to restore a previous session after a crash when it is not available?

We had a power outage, and when my computer is back she just opened a blank session. Restore previous session was not offered as an option - it is greyed out. I tried (probably foolishly) closing and reopening.
Now, I read a lot of ways to restore them, but many of them that I don't really understand.
I found the profile folder and a copy of the sessionstore.
Instructions say to right click and hit properties and then select "previous versions". That's where I come off. I don't seem to have this as an option. There are "General" tabs, "script" of 'security' and 'details' all with several sub-options. I can't seem to find anything that says than previous versions. I even followed a statement that says to do on the record and not on the file, but there is no option called 'previous versions' on either.
    I'm (unfortunately) using windows 8.

To use an old sessionstore instead of the current file, first of all, close Firefox. Rename sessionstore.js sessionstore.old file, and then rename the sessionstore.bak -datetime sessionstore.js file. When you start Firefox, if it is set to restore the tabs and windows of the previous session should only pick up. If it is set to start with your home page, use history > restore previous Session.
