  Using photoshop elements 11 (updates are current) using window 10 operating system... after installation of the updates of Windows 10 (without a restore point saved... yes I'm a fool)... photoshop began to act up.  On all but the drive root (C :), when I put them in a file jpg for editing and then try to save it with a changed name using the command file save as...) I get the message noted.  It makes no sense since I am trying to rename the file by using the Save as command for a new unique name.  The Save command works fine as long as I don't have to rename the file.  The previously described problem does not happen if I do this using the main C: drive, but it occurs on all the other drives. Photoshop worked perfectly in the past and the other day I noticed that I can't open all the jpg files in Photoshop (tried all the usual ways to circumvent the opening problem), I get the error message: "Could not complete your request because the file was not found." I know that JPGs are fine, as they open in other applications. My work-around for the moment, is to open in preview mode before and export as a PDF file, then open the PDF file in photoshop, however, this is not ideal.

  Probably a permission problem.  Run the Apple disk utility to repair permissions.  If this does not work the glance to the non bootable drive and check "Ignore permissions..."  Open the window Info Finder and it came inside.

  Well, it's going to be a long Chronicle, but in the end, the problem has been resolved. Please bear with me:

  Running the program MS Fixit in the past without success, I tried to run the update after you temporarily disable AVG, my program AV. no joy.

  I then ran CC Cleaner to get rid of some of 'dead weight '. I even used its registry cleaning option (which included saves).

  At that point, I did some 'household', & began to defragment my HD with Defraggler. But since it seems to take forever, I went to My Defrag, who finished the job much quicker.

  Although I tried to delete the edb.log file using method 3, I kept getting a message system which was unable to complete this action because the file has been opened in another program.  In the end, I was able to delete the file, but fact directly through Explorer. There also seems to be a sort of small file edb.log, indicating that it was a "recovered" version I deleted that one as well.

  At this point, I ran MS Fixit, who States that the Windows Update components needed to be fixed and proceeded to do so again. Because he had allegedly "fixed" my Updater in the past, I was not holding much hope that this time would be any different. So, after that what he has done, I was pleasantly surprised, I might actually start updating!

  However, the update message that a new version would be dl before I could go any further. So I did it.

  When the new version is started, it ran for about 10 minutes, coming with about 50 updates. According to flush out those who were of no use to me, finally I had dl and installed all relevant updates. And now, the update seems to work fine.

  Once again, my apologies for the long answer. But I wanted to tell the whole story, as I did not quite plan of RajithR.

  I solved the problem, apparently, some of the dll files becomes involved in the process of updating Windows and just need to be reassocie but for the analysis patterns below are the answers to your questions:

  1 Win 7 Home Premium installation

  2 64 - bit OS

  3 avast! Full version

  4. no other anti-virus/anti-spyware has never been installed

  5. computer was custom built by me, destructive disk used on a new HDD before installing it so that it wasn't a possibility of always being on the disc software.

  6. I left on deployment (I'm in the army) and when I came back my wife told me that the PC was not able to download the updates since November of last year, so she switched off and left to me when I got home.

  You can perform a scan of the SFC (System File Checker). It lists all the issues and will also retrieve all files if necessary. Follow the steps below to p Ed a SFC Scan -.

  a. click Start, click programs, on Accessoriesprincipally made, right click guestand then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
  b. type the following command and press ENTER:
  sfc/scannow
  A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient because the scan can take some time.
  c. If all files require a SFC replace will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue.
  d. If everything is correct you should, after the scan, see the following message "resource protection Windows not found any breach of integrity".
  e. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

  Quick note giving clarification on the 2105.5.1 update: the error message that the OP has reported is inaccurate for the State. The update should simply fix the alert to note that it is impossible to open the file, instead of the misleading warning that a workspace cannot be applied.

  We did not all patches to open a file that fails intermittently. We have still not an understanding of root to the problem the OP has been run in.
