• Windows Media Center cannot sync/set up with AT & T UVERSE

  Windows Media Center cannot configure/sync with my cable TV box. ((See system put in place/info below)

  I spent about 10 hours trying to solve this problem.  Tried every way Windows Media Center allows you to configure, automatic, manual (tried all listed codes), IR remote learning. I searched the web, talked with HP technical support for more than 3 hours, talked with Motorola, ATT UVERSE, someone seems to have a solution.  Based on troubleshooting, I have it so far, I'm a 90 + % sure it's soley configuration of Windows Media Center TV of UVERSE problem of decoder.

  I can get a TV signal on the computer through Windows Media Center and get my cable TV box to make it work, but it's as close as possible. The remote control works, all connections are correct, IR blaster or transponder is located correctly on my TV receiver.

  In the IR remote control learn installation manual configuration (I think this is one of the two) or Windows Media Center asks you to press and hold the "0" on your remote decoder, pointing to your receiver IR from PC.  When I press on it it seems to answer by saying to continue to hold then it ask you to release what I'm doing, then I get an error message.  It is the closest, I learned to operate.  I tried a few tricks/variations on this that I found on this site and others, but not luck.

  Another question the image that I get, but cannot control with Windows Media Center is of very poor quality (worse than a bad cell phone video on youtube), I guess that's more hardware related issue, but I had a machine good enough speced. Also, there is a time delay major and variable (4-5 seconds) between the time you press a button on the decoder TV and you see the answer on the machine, which makes it very difficult to operate.

  I keep trying to stay on the PC band wagon, but of course, the other side seems to be much less difficult to get simple things to work.

  Anyadvice is appreciated.

I'm now trying to figure out if it involves this feature installed at the factory of HP listed on the bottom of my computer: "GENUINE WINDOWS VISTA HOME Premium TUNER DIGITAL". I understand that it is the software and hardware.

  I would be grateful if anyone has answers. If anyone knows what this function is that was installed at the factory, and how I can uninstall and reinstall the software and replace the hardware, I understand that too.

  After unsuccessfully trying everything I could find that had the potential to solve my problem, I finally solved the problem myself.

  It's actually a corrupted Windows file that allows my TV tuner, which caused all my problems. I reinstalled my Vista operating system to its original state, and now the ATI TV tuner works fine. Easier said than done.

• In Windows Media Center, I find the names of file for photos but no pictures. I can find them in "my pictures".

  It seems other files more bleeding in the 'My pictures' folder but the pictures are not appearing in Media Center.  If I go to the start menu and click on 'Images' I'm in the photos, but still, there are many files that do not belong.  If I go directly to the "my pictures" folder everything is fine.  What did I do to cause this?  How can I solve this problem?

  Restore to factory conditions would certainly solve the problem - there is no reason you should have to reset the bios to be able to do.

  To consider is to force Windows to re - build the library - getails of the procedure are described in method 1 below.  You must view the files system and records that you were before being able to locate these files.

• My recently downloaded Windows Media Player 11 play dvd, audio cd and cd rom, but will not recognize two photos of the dvd which have been able to acknowledge by Media Player 10 and record of the Explorer Windows-with some difficulty

  1. Windows Media Player 10 has opened a photo successfully dvd but a message "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close" came on the screen several times.  Had to re insert the dvd picture, but it would open again each time.
  2. Tried the cd drivers and troubleshooting dvd and was informed of my dvd could not be played because there was no decoder for dvd.  Following instructions and chose a windows xp approved decoder pack download - dvd has chosen the Roxio CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack.
  3. Then upgraded the media player to Windows Media Player 11.
  4. After that, dvd and cd rom could be opened by the media player 11, but neither the DVD or cd ROM readers would recognize the photo DVD in question had been inserted into one of these discs, and even less to be opened by the media player.
  5. Program scanner and photo used to transfer my photos printed digitally on a dvd are trademarks of Hewlett-Packard.  Contact the center of the photo, but they could not provide me with any guidance or even particular HP photo program they used to create the dvd picture.  I remember the photos were stored on the dvd in JPEG format picture and was able to open by Windows Explorer before I've updated since WMP 10-11.

  Looks like you have a data dvd, which has just the pictures on it and it will not be seen by WMP, who needs a dvd-video disc.

  It should always open in windows Explorer and you should be able to see your pictues it.

  I've been browsing the forums for a while now and cannot find something to help with a problem I have.  I recently had a security breach on my computer and some nasty viruses.  I performed a complete re install and format.  I bought an external drive to backup everything.  I cleaned the virus and malware better I was able with the help of a friend and my brother then put my photos, music and documents on the external hard drive.  Did the factory reset and runs my Eset on the computer at the same time so the external hard drive.  Nothing showed up, and I'm sure that I'm safe and secure.

  The problem I have is in a file named "Images" that I had made myself with in "My pictures" in the library directory.  I did a cut of my computer and paste it on the external hard drive because I wanted nothing here when I did the installation of the plant.  After that everything was set up I happened to see that pictures of file was still there.  It was curious to me because (I checked) there is no pictures in one file or files of void.  When clicking on properties it says clearly the file is 'shared' which is curious, because I would never share them with anyone.  It's on a computer in my house private network and a secure password wireless modem that I am hard plugged on.  When you click on the tab for sharing on this file, it is clear that the file is not shared.  So you can see my confusion.  If you delete the file he reapears as soon as you click again on the repertoire and to him.  So, basically every time that you remove them it.   Tonight, something different is happening while I was playing around with it, I noticed it seemed to have pictures inside.  When I checked that of course there are maybe 5 to 10 pictures in the files with names on them.  You cannot draw such "update Viewer" everything is updated and you may not remove the 'ghosting' individual

  Thank you very much for this ThrashZone talk with me and help.  I takes care of this for months and was very frustrated.  Something you said on the scene made me watch all my libraries and see what were the parameters.  For some reason any, that my pictures folder has been shared by my videos library so when I changed all settings by default libraries, I think it helped.  Also, I went at this time and were able to see actual images that had been left in the files about 10 or 12.  These photos are not ghosts or I could pull up to remove them, move them.  I took all the photos that I discovered and placed in a file on my desktop.  Then I never renamed file with the main file to a certain number and deleted.  Save it outside the file "remove photos / used.  Then I could delete the file.  I bounced through libraries, and he did not return.  I logged into market and he did not return.  I restarted my computer and it did not return.

  5. I can now use all the functions in the usual way on the remote control. Also can I resart WMC at any time with the remote until I reboot/start.

  You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
  Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
  correctly.

  Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

  Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

  CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
  tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and

  Have you tried to create a new user account and try to install from there (just to see if it works).

  If this does not work, try to do a refresh to see if it solves the problem:

  I can't get my Xbox to connect to Windows Media Center.  When I ran Vista it would work, but now that I am on Windows 7, 64-bit, it just does not connect.  The strange thing is that I'm able to share media from my PC to the Xbox without fail.  In addition, Windows Media Center has detected the Xbox on the network.  But for some reason, the Xbox cannot find the Windows Media Center.  It makes no sense at all.  I even tried disabling the Windows Firewall to see if it would work, but it didn't.  There is no other firewall in my home network.  Help, please.

  You may need to configure the Xbox extender for Windows Media center for Xbox to work.

  Step 1: Get the key Setup of Xbox 360
  1. on your console, go to my Xbox, and then select Windows Media Center.
  2. follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. write down the 8 digit Media Center Setup key.

  Step 2: Add an Extender on your computer
  1 start Windows Media Center.
  2. click on tasks, and then click Add Extender.
  3. When prompted, enter Xbox 360 8-digit setup key.
  4. complete the configuration of the Extender.
