  Yes, if you right-click on the icon in the taskbar, for example Internet Explorer, you will see an option "close all windows".  I think it'll do what you're asking here...

  In addition, you can hide, or rather, but in the background by clicking on the "Show Desktop" box on the far right of your taskbar.

  As long there is no deliberately locked object, you can do the following:

  Drag on the lock column in the layer panel

  Object > unlock all (there is a shortcut for this)

  -> unlocked objects are selected

  I guess this change because it's the last window to load a new page or which has been highlighted. If this happens on one of the tabs autoload, that might explain it.

  1. to select an object below the top layer in the window of the Pr program, I have to drag the top layer away to reach the layer in quesiton. This can be a pain when you have four layers and rearrange the position of the layers after working on the planned layer.   a. right click on the taskbar, click Properties
  b. under the taskbar buttons select never combine
  c. now open the desktop Internet Explorer and check if you can see multiple browser windows.
