Hi George,.

I guess it's a problem with your email client & I will recommend you to contact your email service provider or to support the team of the email client so that they can help you set up your e-mail on the e-mail client.

Let me know if you have any problem with Adobe Reader/Acrobat.

Kind regards

  • Applet: cannot read the file using getResource()

    Greetings,

I'm working on an Applet that is about to read a pdf document.
    When you leave the statement
    java.net.URL PDFUrl=CSSMBulletins.class.getResource("files/oldTransition.pdf");
    PDFUrl is null...

This happens only when I test using a browser (even if local or remote) client. When I debug using NetBeans that question never happened...
The * created .jar file (I use in the folder of my Web server where the Index.html file - copy of the launch.html - is) includes * / icons * and * / folders files *.
With the objects * / icons * I never met problems to get the URL, but with those of * / file * I always a null pointer returned by the method.
To be more precise: the thrown exception's class nullpointerexception (file oldTransition.pdf exists and is in * / file folder)

    My question is:
How can I solve this problem?

On both computers (the and remote), I added the java.io.FilePermission "/ src/cssmbulletins /-", "read, write"; statement in the file, java.policy of the virtual machine.

If I am not mistaken the Applet runs client side, by the client computer

    Fix.

but the jar file (which contains resources for Icons/Files) is located on the server.

But it is downloaded to the client.

When I test the Applet with NetBeans, there is no problem (if I give the correct path to the method of course).
But during the test of any browser (excluding NetBeans) I got a null for the PDFUrl pointer.

Here, the fundamental question which you have not yet addressed, is whether the PDF file within the JAR file or elsewhere. getResource() will only load it from the JAR file if (a) this is where the class came, and (b) the PDF file is in the JAR file. In Netbeans, it's different because it uses build/classes instead of the JAR file in the CLASSPATH, so it can load directly from the disk.

The browser won't let no process to read or write files?

The Plugin Java won't let you do that unless you sign the applet or the windows .policy file allows.

This is the reason why I added some security strategies in jvm clients as I did for the server for testing with the browser in local (loopback).

Don't, don't. Deployment issues. Arguments with customers. Too hard. Sign the applet.

If there is nothing in the java.policy file, I can not connect to the database, can not print and of course can't read/write (when I did my tests with NetBeans, I security exception when you try to connect to the database, for example).

    Sign the applet.

I don't have a thorough knowledge of the Java Applet and I can have underestimated the complexity of the "just read/write a file" on the remote computer.

If the PDF file is not in the JAR file? So, is expected to be in the client file system? In this case, you cannot use getResource() at all, you must use the FileInputStream, FileReader, etc..

I suppose that the Applet is decompressed in the local file system (even in memory).

The JAR files is / are unpacked in memory. If the PDF file is not in the JAR file it is not unpacked.

Do you think I have a good vision of how the Applet technology works? Or there is something important, that I missed?

    a no b Yes.

It's a question of how the recipients e-mail programs deal with attachments. Many e-mail programs will open all the files they can handle, including files jpg and PDF, by default, and if the recipient has not changed that there is nothing you can do about it. The only solution is to the compress first, then it will be delivered as an attachment, allowing the recipient to decompress and open it.

  • Error: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player can not support the Codec that was used to compress the file, MP3 downloads will not play

Original title: MP3 downloads don't play no not on WMP

My Windows Media Player recently stopped playing downloads from Amazon. I've never had this problem before. I installed VLC Player, has not worked... off the WMP in the Windows app, restarted, turned on the back and restarted... did not help. I get the message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. • Error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file' when try to play wav or midi files.

Original title: WMP "can't play wav or midi.

Using WMP 11 on Windows XP SP3.

Windows Media Player has somehow forgotten how to play wav or midi files. Doubleclicking either of these file types give an error "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. " There is a button 'Close' and 'Web Help' which still informs me, "you met the C00D1199 error message... ". ». Following the advice given nothing less than useful.

I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

    Thanks for your reply.

I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

    Step 1:

    a. Click Start and in run type C:\windows\system32 and click ok

    b. find the Catroot2 folder. Right-click on Catroot2 and rename it to Catroot2.old

If you are not able to do the normal mode, try to start in safe mode and rename

    Hello

    1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?
    2. the problem occurs on a particular file?
    3. What is the format of the file you want to play in Windows Media Player?

You may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

    (a) the file type is supported by the drive, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

    (b) the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

Windows media player will play only the files and videos only if it supports this type of file.

Please see the bottom of the article that gives you information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player.

If the files are not supported by Windows media player, then you will need to use a few players from third party that supports this file format.

    Hey Taylor09,

You may find that you are getting this message in Windows Media Player due to one of the following reasons.

    a. you try to play a file that is not supported by the player.

    b. you are trying to play a file that the player does not support, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.

    Step 1:

Confirm that you are trying to play a supported file type. The following article lists the types of files (formats) supported by Windows Media Player.

Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player

Note that if you tried to play the file type is included in this table, the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.

    Step 2:

    Hello

It is the result of malware, then do a very thorough check and when the system is
clean see the following message to remove this error.

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running
resident who can cause as many questions as the malware and may be more difficult to detect as the
    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
extreme overkill point and then run the cleaning only when you are sure that the system is clean.

    Hello

This error may occur for one of the following reasons:
The file is currently in use. Close the file and then try again.

You are not allowed to access the location where the file is stored.

Follow these steps to grant all permissions in the folder where the files are stored:
    1. right click on the folder on the external drive and click Properties.
    2. in the Properties window, click on Security tab.
    3. now, click Edit , and then click Add.
    4. now, type everyone in the box and click OK.
    5. check the full control box.
    6. click on apply and then click OK.

You can also try the mentioned below as follows:

    1. click on start.
