For any additional help, click Help on the Web frequently. "What happens on the music or video files even those I had on my PC for a long time.  They work some days and other days they don't.  I have to reboot to clear it and it's really annoying. I can read a file and then 10 minutes later the same file will not play.  Sometimes after the error message, if I don't click Close, the video is not yet but the audio will not.

  I'm on a laptop HP DV5 with vista 32-bit and 4 GB memory such that shipped HP (Yes, 4 concerts and 32-bit).

  Please relay the e-mail program you use.  You can also try to save the file directly on your local computer, and then check if the file is being read correctly.   I already deleted database library as suggested by some of the forums, also disabled the media as a feature of Win 7, rebooted and then re-enabled it.  I also disconnected externally and restarted that as well, I'm also the same mistake with a cd in the cd drive as well.

  Follow these steps to grant all permissions in the folder where the files are stored:
  1. right click on the folder on the external drive and click Properties.

  3. now, click Edit , and then click Add.
  4. now, type everyone in the box and click OK.
  5. check the full control box.

  I managed to fix the problem for about 20 minutes by flattening my computer re - install the operating system and this resolved until all updates have been through, and then it disappeared again.  I tried many codecs packs and this still does not help.

  My system is running Windows 7 and Media Player version is 12.0.7601.18840, which tells me that Media Player is the most recent version.

  Open uninstall a program in windows and in the left click on the feature to turn on or off windows. Clear the check box of the window Media Player, and then click ok. This will uninstall the drive, and then restart.

  After restarting the same steps, now, check the box for the same and perform a restart and if all goes well it should solve the problem.

  Note: Make sure that Windows is up-to-date.
