  Thanks for the additional info. With the doctor print and scan does not locate a corrupted software/driver problems its time to turn to the operating system itself. Others who have had similar problems with the same error indicate a corrupted registry key, the origin of the problem:

• Cannot change default program windows 7 64 bit

  I have a user who is running windows 7 64 bit which cannot change default programs. This only happens on the computer if it is connect. So I think it has something to do with his profile.  I noticed that when I go in the Panel and click default programs on associated with a file type I can choose the new program, but it will not save.

  We just migrated to a new domain and transferred all the user profiles with the Microsoft migration tool.

  My computer still works fine until lately something's happened to Windows Vista all of a sudden. One day I put on the computer and found that the left side of the menu 'start' all deleted, and the content on the right side of the Panel is still there. But then I found that I cannot print a document PDF and Excel, and the error message reads: "Before you print a document, you must install a printer." I have a HP Color laser printer connected to it since and it still works well. I can always print Word document (unless I have to manually select HP printer each time the dialog box I have ever had to do before), but cannot print PDF or Excel. On the 'control panel', the HP printer icon is still there, but it is not set as default printer, as it has always been. And when I tried to set up as a default printer, the error message reads: "can't set default printer.

• Cannot set default Acrobat 'open with' in Windows 7

  Since the installation of CD player, I couldn't set Acrobat XI as the default program to open pdf files. I do the 'open with' for each file, and given that I create materials, I almost always want to open with the complete program. Microsoft instructions do not work. I can't find out how to reconfigure the Acrobat products to replace the default player. If someone has an answer, I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, I'll have to uninstall the CD player.

  Go to edit > Preferences > General > click on the button below "Select as default PDF Manager". and click OK.

  Restart Acrobat and your Acrobat XI is defined as default PDF reader.

  I like to display several folders and subfolders at one time... and discovers another group of folders and subfolders, etc etc etc... and to do that I constantly view > see the subfolders points, because the command doesn't "stick".  I have looked around and don't see a way to "Show items from subfolders" by default.   already tried to create collections for this? You might want to experiment a

  little at first, but you can create a collection for a main folder by using the view all the

  subfolders and with this result, create a collection for this folder. You

  don't have to navigate back to this folder using flat view, simply click on

  the collection and should be all there

  You can also refine them down to type of file using Panel filter, if you want

  so.

  What is the name and the product number of your printer? How can I find my model number or product number?

  I am trying to set yahoo mail as my default e-mail client everyone give me the link to access it using yahoo mail I got to download and install the latest version of the toolbar yahoo and Messenger and it will give me the ability to set yahoo mail as the default value.  But it does not have this option and when I go to set default programs and click Custom it shows the beautiful (SARCASTIC) Windows mail!  I don't want windows mail won't much please I want yahoo mail really like it.  Cat of the Yahoo customer care tells me that I have to contact microsoft to resolve this problem (HUGE PIAN IN MY BUTT) so when I go to microsft and chat with one of their benefits, guess what?  I am told to talk to yahoo to fix this.  Both give me a link to install the latest version of the yahoo toolbar and Messenger. And I did this like969 bazzillion time seriously tomorrow: Friday November 4, 2011 will be a good week of this merry go round on 10 hours a day.   So please don't send me Yahoo mail help to download the latest version of the toolbar yahoo and Messenger because I did this every day FOR A WHOLE WEEK

  I've seen use 7-Zip for about two months after using WinRAR and really enjoy. However, I could not make up the 7 - Zip context menu, so I downloaded and installed 64-bit instead of the version 32-bit I used (I have a 64 - but machine).
  However, once I did it, Windows has not found the original 7 - Zip program, then I tried to choose the default program for 7 - Zip again. In the menu "choose program by default", I couldn't find the Z - Zip program. Even after the conclusion of the executable manually through 'Browse', the windows would show not 7-Zip as an option to open the file.
  I also tried:
  "Set default programs".
  -"Associate a file type or Protocol with a program."
  -Resettlement of 7 - Zip
  -Restarting my computer
  -Suspension and unsuspending my computer
  The only program of the 7-Zip file, it can open is 7 - Zip Console, but appears not to work either (as I expected).
  Any help would be appreciated!
