Cannot update or uninstall Adobe Reader 9 on Windows 7
I get a message to update Adobe Reader, but when I try I get a message:
«Update to uninstall adobe could not open not hkey-local-machinesoftwaremicrosoftwindowscurrent\\\ version\run\optionalcomponants\imail»
I also tried to uninstall through Control Panel. Watch it uninstall with a progress bar, then the same error message at the top, and the progress bar goes in the opposite direction until eventually there is no uninstalling Adobe Reader.
Is there another way to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Reader? Are there instructions available somewhere to uninstall Adobe Reader manually include the registry keys that you want to uninstall Adobe Reader 9? I've seen instructions step by step for older versions, but I don't know if those would be the same for later versions such as Adobe Reader 9.
You can try the following.
Remove all traces of drive (and not only the program) of your system using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility. It is no longer supported by Microsoft because it can produce problems with Win 7, but you can always download it from places like
http://MajorGeeks.com/download.php?Det=4459
Then download the installer of the reader of
http://get.Adobe.com/reader/Enterprise/
and perform a clean installation.

Update fails, uninstall Adobe with Error 1303
I had an employee report that he could not open the PDF files.
I go to his machine, and thought which is strange Adobe Reader X is not installed. I have re-installed and think a lot about it.
About 10 minutes later, he called again and he was missing once again.
I've delved into the issue and concluded that when the update is running and running because I have it set to automatically install updates, it fails with an error:
Error 1303 the installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: c:\program files (x 86) \Common Files\Adobe\ARM\1.0. The installation cannot continue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator.
I tried to take possession of the Adobe folder under c:\programdata\, and one located in c:\program files (x 86) \Common files and inherited the correct permissions.
I restarted the machine and the update always uninstall Adobe and then fails to install the update.
I thought it's Kaspersky which is interfering, but best I can tell I have disabled policy and each component of Kaspersky and it always fails to apply the update.
Any ideas?
Also, the user is an administrator account, I double checked.

Has exactly the same problem on Win 7 x 64 system. After making many changes to permissions and properties, restored to a point before that these changes, disabled windows firewall, installed the windows KB947821 hotfix and then put to day/install Adobe X (10.1) and it worked. Not sure if it was the fix or disable the firewall, since I did both at the same time. Note: When you install the hotfix, it hangs at about 70%. In fact, it scans your system, so let it run its course. Good luck and let me know if it works for you.

the software is impossible to uninstall adobe reader XI. Missing acroread.msi
Hello
I have windows 10-day of the recently and had to reinstall adobe reader because it didn't work anymore with windows 10. Obviously the Adobe reader installation is poorly made and I can't open my pdf files.
(Windows10 myself open my PDFs with edge, that I do not like because I find it impractical).
So I trying in vain to uninstall adobe reader pour the re - install properly.
BUT when I want to uninstall adobe reader the following message is displayed:
followed by that, when I click on OK
and finally this one
Ilme missing the acroread.msi file
The Acroread.msi file is not on my computer. I don't know where to find it elsewhere.
I can not reinstall adobe reader directly (without deleting the old one, even if it is incomplete) because the installation block current, of the view that this program is already on my computer, even if it does not!
I've been on labs.adobe.com and tried the adobe acrocleaner cleaning program, this does not work either.
Thank you for your help.
Sophie never came back, so we do not know if it has ever solved its problem, but it worked for most people. You can try to use this tool first remove all traces of your computer:
http://labs.Adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then you can download the full Setup offline reader for the version you want from
http://get.Adobe.com/reader/Enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the Setup program before anything else.

Why not works automatic update of the Adobe Reader software for domain users
Hello
I tried to update automatically to version 11.0.2 version 11.0.3 on my domain so that it is logged on as a user account. Auto Update settings work if I am logged on as administrator, but not as a domain user.
I was under the impression that the installation of the automatic update as a service could undermine permission issues that has tied the program update. It seems that way.
I can confirm that I have auto update together in Adobe Reader and the registry entry
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM
where the iCheckReader DWORD value is equal to 3.
Finally, I'd like for Adobe Reader to perform a silent installation without any prompts from the domain user. Currently I find the automatic update does not work for users.
For the record, I'm not behind a proxy.
Kind regards
Haydn
It could be that there is a set of policies administrave for the domain that is forbidden.
