Cannot use USB Linux Live on Predator 17 G9-791

Hi all! I try to get my Predator to start a Linux Live USB with persistence (note: I don't mean to install Linux, just restart). I know that the ISO is good (I checked the MD5 and it redownloaded few times) and I've used several different creators of Live USB, but every time I try to start Ethernet Intel misled and I get. I activated the F12 Boot menu, I enabled legacy starting because USB doesn't show under UEFI and I disable secure boot. Is that all that I'm missing.

Here are pictures of what I see.

Thank you! Also, I already talked to the support of predator line and basically they said that they could not help with the loading of a new operating system on my laptop... I get in the sense that is you need help to install Linux, you should probably install Linux, but is not what I am trying to accomplish. Unfortunately, this is all the help they could provide.

Anywho, thanks guys!

First, check your BIOS version, if it is less than 1.10, update.

http://global-download.Acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_1.10_A_A.zip?acerid=635960424469495308&S...

You must have an OS upgrade the BIOS of windows available.

the Intel ethernet error is correct, since it's your camera fifth bootable to startup list (photo 2), so after trying the other 4, it stops here looking for something bootable on the ethernet card.

what Linux distro you try to boot from USB?

for most of the last distribution major, UEFI/EFI are compatible, simply create a USB bootable EFI to start successfully under the UEFI.

I suggest you to Rufus:

https://Rufus.AKEO.IE/?locale=en_US

He just put it as on the screenshot of the home page, let create the bootable media and try to start it.

    Hello

Have you seen yellow errors such as exclamation points in Device Manager?
If not, in this case it of not necessary to install all the drivers.
Moreover, the operating system automatically recognizes the USB ports.

But what USB device doesn't work? As far as I know if this external device needs more energy than the 500mA so it is possible that the operating system can not recognize this device.
In this case you need an external power supply for this part or you try to use the USB hub.

  • Cannot use USB keys

I tried to get 2 different keys to work on my boyfriend's computer.  It is running XP and it's an older version.  The port that I put them in work so that isn't the problem.  I go into the Device Manager and there is no yellow question mark and when I click on them they said that it has not installed the drivers for the USB key.  He searches the computer for a driver and of course it is not a.

These are only $13. disks and so they do not come with any software.  How can I get the right driver.  It does not say the name of the USB but I can not find a site with this title.

    Hello

USB 2.0 drivers are part of the service pack Ms.
You must absolutely install MS all service packs. I recommend that you install SP2 and then all the updates Ms.

    Check the MS document:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/329632

In addition, you must install all drivers Toshiba from this site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU

There is a Chip Set Utility, which is very important.

    Best regards

I only use the Internet (dial-up modem) and word documents (OpenOffice or other), or maybe (not required) I like to watch movies (CD or DVD).

    Thank you.

    Hello

Try again with the Knoppix Live CD. I didn't try yet but I will do in the future. Get info on http://www.knoppix.org/

By the way: If you want to use other BONES because of security or do some experiments, you can also try installing the virtual machine. A few days ago, I installed VMware Workstation. There, you can preinstall a few different operating systems and do what you want (Internet and so on).

If you still work partition recovery, try to do as the active partition, I hope it works always.

You can search for linux or tools BACK activate or install the Win7 folder in C and then use computer management do D (recovery partition) active rebort, without pressing F11, it doesn't automatically run a system recovery.

Choose the setting that is installed at the factory and wait until she finished. As soon as it's over, make your own recovery discs.

  • Tecra S2: Problems with Linux Live CD after upgrading the BIOS

    Hi all

A few moments ago I flashed the BIOS on my Tecra S2. Now, my current BIOS version is 2.80. Unfortunately no, I had problems with booting of Linux Live CD like Knoppix or Kanotix. The freezing of the startup process, when the PCMCIA module is tried bo be started.
What I want to do now is to downgrade my version of BIOS. Is anyone know how it works, and someone has an older version of BIOS of 2005? I couldn't find any older versions on the Toshiba support sites.

    Thanks for all replies!

    Biberkopf

You re right. On the Toshiba page you will find only the latest version of the BIOS and the older versions are not available on the page.
In my opinion if you want to downgrade the BIOS question using the service provider authorized in your country.

But have you checked this site useful:

  • It is possible to contact PCA9548A (8-CHANNEL I2C SWITCH) using USB-8451?

    Hello

Now, I'm doing a project related to the smart battery. Now, I read data from a stack using the USB-8451 by smbus. The next step uses the USB-8451 casing to read the data of several batteries through smbus. I chose the PCA9548A (8-CHANNEL I2C SWITCH) to achieve this goal. But when I check the specification of the PCA9548A, there is a fix I2c format to read data from it, I tried several times, but still no can tell me where is the error in my code, or maybe it's impossible to communicate with this chip using USB-8451?

Here is the fix that i2c read format of PCA9548A

Why are you usng the script live? Have you looked at the examples of delivery for the 8451? You just need a couple of nodes property to set the rate and the address, and then use the VI to write I2C.

  • Can I use transfer EZ of WindowsXP SP2 for Windows7 using EZ transfer cable or should I upgrade to SP3. Same Q to use USB Fash drive.

Transfer files, etc. from XP to windows7 using EZ transfer cable or need to use a USB Flash drive?

    Hi easyeddy,

    1. are you referring to Windows Easy Transfer?

If you're referring to Windows Easy Transfer, Windows Easy Transfer for Windows XP supports the following operating systems:
1 Windows XP SP2 to Windows Vista.
    2. Windows Vista to Windows Vista.

In your case, you cannot use Windows easy transfer to transfer files from XP to Windows 7 because it does not support. You should consider using a USB FlashDrive to transfer/move your files from Windows XP to Windows 7.

For more information, see the following articles.
1 see Windows Easy Transfer for Windows XP
    2. see the section migration of files from Windows XP to Windows 7 in this article

You can consider installing Service Pack 3 (SP3) on your computer. See download Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3)
