Cannot use Vista in Spanish, don't have XP Home English (Presario V6216EA)

Hi guys...

Yes, I fully understand the advice not to downgrade from Vista to XP, but my non-techie here in Spain friend bought his laptop with Vista Premium preinstalled in Spanish, thinking that he could simply tell him to switch to English (Um, I already said it was non-techie...).

His PC vendor said it didn't ' OSs in English and his only option is to find a place in the retail English version, well that would be an expense! ($200)?

I managed to remove Vista altogether (because it is completely useless to him) and install his former licensed XP Home (SP2) by disabling BIOS SATA, so I would just confirm/get help with one or two things:

(1) I found different drivers for XP etc in the official (?) Site from HP here:

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?OS=228&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3352156

Since I'm generally very careful flashing the BIOS unless I don't know that it's OK, can someone please confirm that if I first to Flash the BIOS to the address above, my friend is unlikely to end up with a cell phone dead?

(2) currently under XP its CD/DVD drive will read DVD but not CD... CD appear as having 0 bytes...

Yet if I flashed the BIOS, and I find that there is also a driver LightScribe (?) to the address above, is likely to solve the problem or can someone point me to another driver also?

(3) same as I guess for its network card, I see elsewhere in the forums seems to be (or was) a problem for many people... once again to the address above, I note there is a XP download Network Assistant...

Both we would be very grateful for any help you can provide...

Mike

Hi, Cheryl...

Lost my internet connection yesterday so that is happening today... I have integrated the SATA XP driver, reinstalled and everything went brilliantly...

Can't thank you enough for all your help!

Sorry to say that you are out of luck.

Serial numbers came on the cd case. If they aren't there, you have no way to use the program except as a 30 day trial. Adobe CS5 licenses no longer sells.

How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

You can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • How can I do to repair Windows Vista if I don't have a disk drive & asks me to insert the Windows disk and select Repair.

I have a netbook with no disk drive that is running Windows Vista.  When I try to turn it on, it tells me that a file is missing or damaged and that I have to install my Windows disk and select repair.  Seeing that I don't have a hard drive on my computer, How can I do to repair vista windows?

    Hello

Netbooks have the option to reinstall the operating system to when it was new.

They have a recovery Partition on their hard drives the same as most laptops and desktops...

You should ask the Netbook Manufactuter for particular key sequence to begin a recovery.

Some manufacturer's instructions are to press F10 or F11 at startup; others are Alt + F10, etc..

The installed software doesn't have knowledge written in programming to realize that you have a Netbook and you are unable to insert the disc. That's the way it is written, unfortunately: one size.

And some more expensive Netbooks now have a DVD player.

    See you soon.

  • How to finalize or recovering files written to a CD - R using Vista when they don't show up when I access the CD but the CD memory is full, so I know that they are on the cd?

I burned all my .jpg files on a CD - R using Vista. The files showed when I looked at them directly after the "burning". now that they do not appear on the CD, but the memory of the CD shows that he is nearly full, so I now have the files are there. I couldn't find a way to finalize the cd burning or anything like that. I found a blog that says burn files to cd in vista is problematic, but everything I need to know is how do I get off the files on this cd?

None of the above. IsoBuster could not display files and using Explorer has not show them here or the other.

    Thanks for the update.

    Apparently, the disc is damaged.

  • Password reset disk wizard wants to use Drive F - I don't have an F drive

Desktop HP Pavilion p6610f Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit installed Just the new hard drive and all the new updates and new programs etc.  I created the repair disk system and a full backup and wante to create a password reset disk. When I click on 'Create a password reset disk' in the control panal and I begin to follow the wizard, it asks me to put a key memory in drive F.  I don't have USB keys or disks if that's what is meant.  I was going to use a DVD - RW disc, but of course, I am unable to do so.  Why does say to create a 'DISC' in one place, and then when I go there, it says that I have to use a 'KEY' 'DRIVE F "?  If I buy a USB flash drive, which is identical to a key memory? And... I have several USB ports, none of them can be used with the USB to store data or memory?  I looked in the 'Help' section and he said just to click on "create a 'Disk' password reset. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Thank you for your time, but I already did the cover, back, vision of diagnostics and repair of disks.  I just asked why, when it is suggested that I create a 'PASSWORD' reset disk, when I start to do exactly that, the wizard tells me that I have to use a USB, 'NO' a 'DISC' and use the 'F' reader which I did not, (I don't think), I mean I know there are additional slots for disks , but I don't think I have other than those that I used to do the other ' Just discs in case where.  Just curious.  I have resigned myself to not do a. I wrote my password on a piece of paper and taped it on the underside of the top of a desk, where nobody would ever think to look.

  • Satellite A200 - cannot use Vista after the recovery of the product

Hello. I hope someone can help me with the following... This week I had various issues with which follows my laptop a Vista update that system restore did not fix, so I decided to go for a full recovery of product (which I have a complete backup of all my files).

So far I have used the product recovery on my laptop in the 3 ways I can see (and more than once): without changing the settings, change the settings and maximize the partition, change settings and select advance / expertise.

Whenever I was able to complete the initialization of windows, create a new user account, etc. Once the Office has been set up, I get a small window with a progress bar and when it's over, I click on the button 'restart '...

After the reboot, I get the black screen that says Microsoft Corporation with the green progress bar, but he's there for what feels like 'too long '. After a while, I get a black screen with a cursor, then a blue screen for a crash dump.

If I use F8 and boot mode safe, the system stops the CplIR.sys file, although the hard disk activity seems to be continuing. I turn off after 10 minutes.

If I use F8 and then select Repair computer... This is what is happening with each option
-Restore the full windows operating system: after clicking on OK nothing happens.
-Diagnostics of memory: there is no problem with memory
-DOS prompt: I run CHKDSK and there is no problem with the hard drive
-Restart: there is no errors, even if the word diagnosis 'impossible' when he sees, there is no system restore points

Then on reboot I get the black screen with cursor followed by the crashdump OR if I managed to log in and access my desktop, I get the crash dump, as soon as I try to do something (like open Control Panel).

Following the instructions found elsewhere, I have tried this after removing the battery, then changing power management options immediately after the initialization of windows (ie. before clicking on the restart button). No change.

I even ignored the button restart! But still get a crash dump, when I try to do something.

Any ideas? I've got past (ie. wasted) so a lot of time on this and don't understand what may be wrong after formatting the windows drive image and reloading...

    Hello

It's very interesting story. I got several notebooks several times but I never noticed anything like that.
I must say that what you did right and you think appropriately. If I were you I would try exactly the same steps to make it work somehow.
I do not know which issues you had before, but I imagine that here it's just the problems of software and not important for the operation of the equipment.

It's really hard to say what can be the problem. What you can try, is somewhere to get facilities Microsoft Vista disk and install naked Vista to see if the same thing will happen again.
Anyway, the fact is that images of recovery are tested and adapted for each laptop model and if the material is OK there no reason for this kind of behavior.

Try again with the new installation using Microsoft facilities drive and let us know exactly what is happening.

  • Cannot reset the useranget elements (don't have Blingee), what to do?

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/981144

My problem is similar to that link there, I try to use Pandora, but there the words blocking buttons saying my browser is out of date or doesn't support SSL/TLS
I found that this can be solved by reseting the useragent, but the 'reset' is grey so I can't do that
In this link, they said maybe it's Blingee but I searched on my laptop I do not see anywhere

Please and thanks for the help

    This looks OK.

You can delete all data stored in Firefox with a specific area through "Forget this Site" in the context menu of a history entry ("" history > view history "or" view > sidebar > History "") or via the subject: permissions page.

Using "Forget this Site" will delete all data stored in Firefox in this area as bookmarks, cookies, words of past, cache, history, and exceptions, so be careful and if you have a password or other data from that domain you don't want to lose then check that back up these data or make a comment.

You can't recover from this "forget" unless you have a backup of the files involved.

It has no lasting effect, so if come back you on such a 'forgotten' site, then the data of this Web site will be saved once more.

  • When you type text in firefox, you usually get a suggestion on the text to be used automatically. I don't have this feature, what setting is incorrect.

When you loggon to a site on the internet, you can get a sugestion on the words to use, I n ' have this function. What is hot, and how to set this right?

According to your description there are a few possibilities.

One is auto form fill, you can find information about usage in the articles to check if Firefox automatically fills in forms and Firefox doesn't save not the web form entries .

As you said logging sites, another possibility is the option to remember passwords. Articles Password Manager - don't forget, delete, change and import saved in Firefox passwords and user names and passwords are not saved to give more details.
