• Since the upgrade to Windows 8 Youtube and other videos flash will not play smoothly

  Since I've upgraded to Windows 8 Youtube and other flash videos will not play smoothly.  When I press play, the video freezes on an image and the sound is fine but the image is locked for several seconds.  So if it starts to play, he is so rough its not watchable.  If I pause the video and let it buffer for a bit and press play again it works usually smooth for 3-4 seconds in the rough again goes.

  This is the case with IE, Firefox and Chrome.  My computer is a HP DV7 3060 64-bit with 4 GB of Ram.

• Bug which means video event HTML5 will not play if you are using a skin

  There is a bug, easily reproducible, which prevents the HTML5 video work in certain circumstances.  I hope that someone can think of a workaround I can't tell my client that Captivate doesn't support video!  To see the problem:

  (1) start a new project of 7 Captivate

  (2) add a video of the event to the first page

  (3) add a skin to the video - I used clearSkin3 but I do not think that makes all the difference

  4) go to project-> skin Editor

  (5) uncheck the read command

  (6) either publish to HTML5 or HTML5 Preview in browser

  You will see the video only plays not - the reason is Captivate JavaScript code throws an exception: object doesn't support property or method 'modifyAlternativeAccessibleText' - and then not play or display the playback controls.

  If I put the video to have no skin (so play with no. controls at all) then it works, so it's not a problem of encoding or anything like that.

  If anyone can think of a solution where I can play the video of the event in HTML5 without control of playback from captivate project (but with the video) I would be very grateful!

  cp.modifyAlternativeAccessibleText () is a function that is not in the project files. First of all, I have commented the function call (8 places) and my video worked, the I have uncommented and added the function in the CPM.js file and it worked.

  Add this at the end of the file CPM.js and the magic:

  cp.modifyAlternativeAccessibleText = function () {}

  It is an empty function

  I might add that 13 029 lines of code for a screen with a video about it is a little exaggerated as. See how you can achieve the same thing in a real page of HTML5 in a few lines inside the body tag. With zero javascript.

  He actually had 349 characters (562 249 in the CPM.js) total to do exactly the same thing with the same background of captivate. If we exclude the video file which is the same, my account was 5 k, CP was 7.08 MB.

  While playing a Html5 video full screen on my second monitor, whenever I try to do anything else the video mode full-screen. Video Flash works very well and will stay full screen on my second monitor. I also tried the same Html5 video in Google chrome and worked correctly and remained full screen too. So why the Html5 video will not remain on a second monitor fullscreen in Firefox?

  There is a fix for this, but apparently it is not yet available in the current version of Firefox (12.0). At the next update of Firefox comes out, you will be able to go to about: config and game "full-screen - api .exit-on-disable" false and the problem will be solved.

  I hope Mozilla will soon that the default for users will not do this!

• Published video overview will not play with active captioning

  Hello Adobe community!

  I am having some problems with the activation of the subtitles.  Before recently upgraded to Captivate 8, I created my 7 Captivate training videos. I activated CC through the Publisher of skin for all videos and had no problem with reading.

  Last week, I upgraded to 8 Captivate.  Yesterday, I have converted one of my videos of Captivate 7 to 8 Captivate.  I made some changes by adding a table of contents, edited one of the slides and double-checked all my settings of CC next Dr. Pooja Jaisingh captioning video.  I posted the video (like SWF) to test the reading, and once again everything worked well.  I made a slide more change then re-released the video.  When I went to play the video, bar of playback controls have been 'broken' and everything crushed at the top left of the screen (see screenshot).

  After making several captivate restarts and computer restarted I narrowed the issue down to captioning.  If I uncheck close captioning in the skin, the preview of the video and video editor published play fine.  As soon as I "check" captioning still once, the playback bar is broken.

  I am at a loss and have no idea how fix the video.  I need the captioning option closed in the video.  If anyone has any suggestions or ideas of how to fix it please let me know.

  Captioning should not do that.

  I suggest that you remove the skin of your project and select a different skin from Captivate 8 to see if the problem goes away then.  It is possible, there are a few conflicts with the skin, applied initially in the earlier version of Captivate.

  Thank you, Joan. I fixed it. Although the Prefs system and modules Manager additional FF says that my Flash is updated, I checked them again and oops! Everything has changed. I have updated Flash and its APIs and everything is played now. Sorry, I feel like a numbskull but really, ago one hour everything was up-to-date. Thanks again.

• Video files will not play

  I have configured the mediahub NMH4xx with my media library and my different PC can play everything fine.

  I then added several files avi on the disk by connecting a USB hard drive in the hub via the USB port.  Used the Linksys GUI to copy the files across the disk.  These files are present, but can only be read using one of my three video players.  Do not use the import because it is too restrictive and does not copy on video such as subtitles, cover and nfo files.

  I noticed that windows Explorer are showing these new files attributes 'read only' and 'archive '.  In trying to change these attributes, I get a "Access denied" dialog

  Thought I would update this in case someone else has the same problem.

  I was able to recover these files using a Flash DRIVE into the front slots and then use the user interface to copy of the hub on the stick; Remove them from the hub. and then COPY them to the hub.  Incredible, I know!  But it worked.

  I don't know about what happened here, but I got a clue to another post on this forum dealing with the problem of file system NFTS (my original HDD USB) and OS (linux?) best position of the hub to deal with FAT (my USB).  My don't eject is not the USB HDD using the user interface may well have caused the problem.

  Anyway worked this rather laborious shuffle and files are very well!

• Default preloader in captivate 8 outputs HTML5 will not change

  I have a problem with the preloader in Captivate 8. I chose the preloader but when I publish the course as HTML5, there is still the default, preloader whatever one I choose. Not to mention that I can't find the default preloader among other preload - I'd just replace it. I can change it in the published result, but I don't want to do whenever I publish a course.

  Anyone encountered this problem? Do you know how can I fix?

  The same problem occurs in HTML CP9, regardless what preloader you always choose by default, loader.gif file located here:

  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 9 x64\HTML\assets\htmlimages

  We have replaced the loader.gif in our c: drive so he always published with our required preloader. This only works if you use the preloader even on most of your projects. Otherwise, you can replace the loader.gif manually once you have published your course.

• Video rental will not play

  I rented a movie from iTunes and it won't play it gets stuck on a black screen, I can see all the thumbnails of chapters, but can't watch the movie. If I transfer the movie to my iPhone I can watch it, but I'd rather watch it on the macbook air. Also, I took the apple machine they completely wiped and reinstalled the operating system and still no luck.   Are you logged into your iTunes account?  Use the iTunes menu to navigate to account > view account.

  Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).

  Hi all

  I had a customer bring a problem I've never seen before me. They have a video that will not play audio on all mobile devices unless earphones are connected. Digging around, it seems that the problem comes from the original item, but I still wonder why audio will not play and if there is anything I can do (any codec I use) which will fix the problem. I played around using the options both AAC or MPEG, mono/stereo, played with sampling frequency and bitrate but nothing seems to have no effect on her.

  Any thoughts?
