Card reader keeps disappearing

Hello. I have a HP a6614f running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Lately, my guard card reader disappears from my computer and stop reading my SD card. It is a problem that suddenly appears a year ago. I fixed it by closing the PC, by unplugging and then plugging in the media card reader connector. The problem would come back every now and then, but could be solved by using the same process.

Lately however the problem that happens almost every time I take my SD card. I withdraw, snap a few photos on my camera, put the card back in and there is no green light on the drive or drives appear in my computer. I can solve this problem at once more have disconnected and reconnected in the connector, but it's tiring because it always forces me to shut down the PC and open the tower.

Is there a reason why this happens and is there a permanent fix?

I ended up buying a USB multimedia card reader.

I had a similar problem with my card reader. This occurs when you use the tool "Remove the device safely" (in the area of Notification) to remove your memory card. It prepares the reader of card complete for "safe removal", which means that he cut off all contact with her. He's waiting for then you can remove the entire device, then reconnect.

The only way to solve the problem and get the card reader in my computer is restart your computer.

Note: in the future, instead of using the tool to remove the device, you can try removing the card. It is safe to do so, as long as no file or folder on the card is open, and no programs use the card somehow. WARNING: If you remove the card while it is in use, you risk harmful files in the card or the card itself. To do so you don't know that the card is not in use.

  • Card reader memory O2Micro on Latitude with Windows 8.1

I have a Latitude E5520 and a Lattitude E5530, have both the O2Micro SD memory card reader.  The drive worked fine in Windows 8, but after I installed the 8.1 update, the SD card reader works not at all when you insert a memory card.  There is no beep, no hard drive available in Windows Explorer, and in the device, the O2 Manager is not listed in "Storage controllers", where it should be.

There are two versions of the driver that I found online on the Dell site, but neither one solves the problem.

I've found this workaround, but it's not a very good:

    • 8.1 Windows, press the Start button and type peripheral difficultyand click on find and fix problems with the devices in the list of results.
    • Click Next and let it check for problems.  He will come with the option to activate the device Intel 6 series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 6 - 1C1A or something similar
    • Click apply this hotfix
    • Once completed, close the troubleshooter and open up Windows Explorer and you should see the card reader
    • In Device Manager, you should see Controller O2Micro Integrated MMC/SD controller O2Micro integrated MS/MSPRO

Now here's the bad news – once you reboot, or even go to sleep and come back, the card reader has disappeared, and you must repeat these steps.

If anyone has a permanent solution, I would like to know what it is!

I had the same problem with my guitarfish E5430 and thank you for your thing!

But I finally found the right driver and now everything seems to work fine, here's what I did:

-Go to the Dell driver site

-Tick: All drivers for your product

    -Choose: MS Windows 8.1 64-bit

    -Come on in: storage controller

-Installation: O2Micro Smartcard (driver O2Micro OZ77CR6 smart card)

According to the BIOS version (F.22) will there is a fix where you can set the power state of the smart card reader:

But this isn't the case to find.

  • XPS 8700 Windows 7 64 card reader disappears!

Often ill put a SD or CF card into the internal card reader and it disappears from my computer and Device Manager.  No just went wrong! The only way to recover is system sleep and power cord to "unplug". Works for 2 or 3 times and the same thing happens. Dell tried a few software and settings of bugs but that did not work. Then the sent me a new media card reader but same thing happens. Now, they want to replace motherboard and power supply, but I doubt that a is too. Any help or ideas would be great.

Yes, a very common problem with my XPS 8700. Has been through a lot of readers of cards, motherboards, etc.

    (1) make sure you eject the card reader in the computer drives; the old 'My Computer'. Yes, of course, it's elementary, but several times I just grabbed the first card reader. It applies to remove it from your camera. Don't forget that the camera is turned off before removing.

    2) the "fix"

It can be irritating, but it you have to remove the side panel and pull the wire connecting the card reader to the motherboard to the wide where it attaches to the motherboard. Then just reconnect and the card reader drives will reappear.

Technically you should do with the machine power off and unplugged power cord, but I use one of these long slender beak pliers to reach in and get a firm grip on the connector. Just a quick pull and a quick replacement. I would look at the readers to return what they have always done for me. I don't know if it is successful with the machine off. You must be very spastic to not be able to disconnect and reconnect the small connector without touching anything else. A light is useful depending on the ambient light.

Personally, my CPU is just off the right side of my office, so I always leave the left in Panel enough air flow, but it is certainly easy enough to remove.

It is difficult to say how long it will last. Finally, it will fail again may 20 all-purpose or more, but I keep the needle forceps nearby. A 2 minute job.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A350 - 110 PSAL6E disappearing after every reboot Win7 card reader

Well, the title says it all.

As far as I know, that this model has a JMicron card reader - Windows Update installs its own drivers for it.
    I tried the drivers of * [HERE | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 153 & selProduct = 819 selSho 789 = rtMod & language = 13 & selOS = 29 & selType = 316 & yearupl = DST & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = all Machines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = all & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = 316 & page = 1 & ID = 69749 & DISO = 29 & driverLanguage = 42] *.

The thing is: I install the drivers and perform a restart. After that, the card reader works perfectly. However, if I do another reboot it disappears and I have to install and reboot again.

Am I missing some other bits of software reviews? For anything else, I used the Toshiba Software Installer.

    Hello

You have not missed anything guy card reader controller driver is the only driver that controls the card reader.

I think that it of not a problem with the driver, but with the Windows operating system. I don't know if the update of Windows messed with something, but usually the update from Microsoft should not affect functionality of Mr. card reader that's why its odd to me that the driver does not work after restarting.

However, maybe you must first uninstall the card reader driver. This in Device Manager.
Mark the card reader and uninstall the driver. Reboot the laptop.
Then clean the operating system using CCleaner (freeware tool can be downloaded from different pages).

After the cleaning, restart the device and install the driver through the Device Manager. Reboot and test functionality.

    Good luck

  • Media card reader disappears from leading to the card not being recognized under computer

Original title: two years with media player card hardware/software problem?

When I insert my card player media the G, H, I and J readers disappear which leads to the card is not recognized. If I completely shut down my computer, they come back and the card will read for this session. This does not happen if I do a simple reboot. My computer is not quite two years old and it lasts since almost the beginning. Dell has replaced once the card reader and cable three times and the motherboard. The last technician who came to me thinking that it might be a software Bus USB error. All drivers have been updated. I am at my wits end, because the problem does not happen whenever I inserted the card, but now, it happens more frequently. This problem seems to occur with the map of media player. And Yes, it happens with all Media Player cards. I mainly use this computer to upload photos. I was told NOT to back up my computer because, if it was a software problem I just would be to reinstall the problem once I did a restore. Is there someone out there who can help?

    Hi Chris,

I was finally brave enough to install the updates of the firmware. I went from the 7.8 version version 7.12, but no luck. Initially, it worked, but once my computer came into fashion 'sleep', and I returned to use again, it didn't work. This has been a problem for almost all the time that I owned the computer. Very very frustrating!

    Any other suggestions, anyone?

    Thank you

  • Why imported files disappear after disconnecting the card reader?

Recently, I replaced my hard drive and upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10. I restored my computer from a backup on an external hard drive. Since then, Lightroom 4 lost my files. They seem to import normally and are still in the catalog, as long as the card reader is connected, but as soon as I unplug the card as Lightroom reader can't find the files and they do not appear when I try to search for them by name. What is going on? How can I get Lightroom to store my files as it did before?

Looks like you got your import process put on add files to your catalog where they are rather than to copy the files on the hard disk, and then add them to the catalog.

Look at the top of your import dialog box and see which option is selected.

  • Software problem or SIM card reader?

    Hello

My brother just bought a new iPhone SE. Like his old iPhone 4 was unnecessary, he gave it to me.

He has deleted all the data, so it was a whole new iPhone 4 running under 7.1.2

Unfortunately, that he used a nano SIM with an adapter and when he took the set, things were not going smoothly and he shot it too strong, maybe because the tray was blocked...

in any case when I turned on the phone with my SIM card (same provider that he bought the phone of) it keeps saying "no sim". I was unable to activate the phone.

I launched iTunes, plugged the iPhone: 'no SIM '.

I tried my SIM own brother who worked before the reset (and also before this 'incident' tray) and it was exactly the same situation.

Then I also tried DFU restore the phone with iTunes, but it was useless.

So I'm pretty sure that the SIM card reader has been damaged. But I still hope that this situation might be link to a software problem.

How can I be sure that the phone detects no SIM card. (I won't call an emergency...)

Thank you very much! It would have been my first smartphone

Sounds like a problem of material for me. I doubt it's worth the money to get that repaired, although the phone.

  • Tecra A9 SD Card reader does not work!

3 Tecra A9. All running Windows XP Sp2.
On the whole, the SD card reader is very intermittent.

    Here's what's happening.
Displays the card into the slot. Nothing in my computer.
I go into disk management, there is no additional volumes (checking to see if she tries to use a used drive letter).
BUT in DEVICE MANAGER there is a new entry, the storage VOLUMES, under the present VOLUME GENERIC is, and in this context, he said "location:"remove the SD card and the entry disappears. SD card "

Any ideas on how to access this drive?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Firstly, you must ensure that you are using a compatible SD card and supported.
Access to the Device Manager, then remove the SD card reader in Device Manager list.
Then use the free application called CCleaner to clean the registry and the system.
Further you need to download the driver from SD card on the page of the Toshiba driver and should be updated.

In most cases that the accelerated procedure allows to solve the questions one SD card.

  • K210 card reader

Hi, I upgraded my K210 to W7 and everything seems to be working for a while and then one day, out of the blue, (photo) card readers stopped working and when I check the drivers, I noticed that they "disappeared" (it is no longer installed).

I wonder if anyone else to discover this 'problem' and / or, if someone can advise me what I have to do to REINSTALL the drivers so that I can use the card again?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hey Boblink,

  • HP Elitepad 900 G1 - problem with built in SD card reader.

    Hello.

IM was a proud owner of HP Elitepad 900 G1 up to the point where I tried to put a 8 GB miniSD card in to built in card reader.

The map was visible in the windows Explorer 8 for 15 seconds. Then he disappeared.

After a long battle with drivers, internet solutions etc (nothing worked btw.) I ve installed windows 8.1 update.

    It still does not work.

My card works perfectly in all the other electronic stuff (laptop computer, mobile phone).

    Can someone help me?

I think I solved this problem. (Sorry for my English but I'm Italian).

The solution is very simple, I tried several times and in my opinion, it works.

It is necessary only to disable 'Quick start' options in Windows 8 / 8.1

-WIN + X key, then go to 'Power Options'.

' - 'Choose what the switch / do"(click on it)

"-"Change settings that are currently unavaiable"(click)

-In 'settings Shoutdown', uncheck the 'enable quick start (recommended)'.

Please tell me if it works for you.
