Cartridge of VMware - memory consumed

Hi team,

I wanted to understand what is the average consumption parameter memory, it says: memory consumed for a 3 TB virtual machine that makes no sense, and even consumers of higher memory or ESX watch 26.4 TB level

Can you please help me interpret it.

Additional accessories:

I have not seen it before, but make sure that you are on the latest vFog 6.7.1 and let us know what version of vSphere you are running.  Chances are that the vCenter API gives us bad data.

  • Cluster design: metrics to use Active Memory or memory consumed

    Hi guys

Conception of life real (memory calculation):

Do you think we can use Active memory within the scope of perf to calculate the VM need?

Or I have to use tools like perfmom.

The case is that we have 150 virtual machines in a material of servers of Olds, we built a new cluster with new servers. I need to know how much memory consumption in the entire cluster

If I take the memory Active Averge of all the VM (example: 100 GB of RAM) + a discount of 30% (PEAK: 30 GB) + 20% (for VMkernel: 20 GB)

    Need memory: 150 GB

Because the properties of Perf, I see 10 times higher than the Active memory memory consumed. If I choose to design the scope of consumption I fear losing too

And what about the vCPU/pCore ratio with the new CPU 8-9 vCPU/pCore so good choice for you?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi friend

He has always depended on your machines and services that will run on the machines. If your environment is sensitive, for example:

You have SQL Server, Oracle server as a virtual machine, you must ensure the memory resources and 'Consumption' metric memory is preferable for the calculation of resources.

On CPU, it's like the memory calculation, and it rested to your environment and machines. If you want to deploy virtual desktop and you have any application like Lync and VoIP, CPU ratio must be 1:2 (Physics: virtual) and 1 / 3 is also good.

  • Question about the memory consumed and active

I have esx4.1 on three dl585 running. I have about 100 active vm running, and I have a small question.

My vm is all 2008 r2 datacenter and I gave them 1 cpu and 4 GB of ram. When I recover a single virtual machine and look at the summary page, I see the bones of memory consumed host 4075 mb and the active guest memory 81 MB operating system. My question is can I reduce the host cunsumed memory to 2 GB without noticing a difference within the virtual machine?

It looks like you can.   To be absolutely sure that you'd need monitor assets long enough to have a good idea of what the average is and what are the tops.

  • Memory consumed more memory granted

    Hello

I did a test on my server ESXi and discovered that memory consumed was more than granted memory. All my guests were 32-bit, a mix of XP and Kubuntu (16). I got paravirtualization enabled for a single virtual machine for kubuntu, others were running the default configuration. What consumed more memory granted memory?

    I have attached a screenshot.

    Thank you

    Ojas

Consumed takes into account VM above, granted does not work.

  • How to free the memory consumed by the Essvr.exe

    Hello
Whenever we start a request will start a process called ESSVR.exe in the background and his memory, consumption will increase as and when we run the calculations. But after the calculation is performed should not reduce the memory consumption.
Whats happening is that sometimes the calculation gets hanged and when I kill the process and start it again, it is run after a couple of times the calculation again gets hung, is possible to free this memory consumed by the process through calc only, script commands so that every time when a calc script finish the memory is released. We use essbase 9.3.1.

When an application is started, the first thing it does is enter memory equal to what is defined as the key cache. This memory is never released until the application is stopped. He leaves also consumes memory for the data cache as she needs until he reached what is defined for this cache. Yet once that memory is not released until the termination of the application. In addition, additional memory can be consumed for different things while the demand is increasing. For example dynamic cache calculator will use memory during the execution of a calc, each user to make recovery uses a little memory (which can add up with many users). ASO data load buffers use memory, kinds of report and recoveries, etc., you get the picture. All these resources are released when the application terminates. (or should be, there have been cases of memory leak in some versions)

  • How can I limit the amount of memory consumed by snapshots

Is there a way to limit the amount of storage space that each VM is allowed to use through clichés?  For example-, I create a virtual machine with a 50 GB hard drive, using a provisioning.  Snapshots are taken regularly, until the size of the hard disk of the virtual machine plus size of all of his shots is 100 GB.  Assume that 100 GB is all the storage I want to allow any virtual machine to consume on the SAN.  Can I create a parameter through VMware or a tool of management of open source, which will be shot at 100 GB and prevent the snapshots taken once reached the limit of 100 GB?   I'm looking for a parameter that can be defined once and applied to all virtual machines in the environment.

    Thanks for your comments.

as far as I know, this is not possible. You can set permission on the question of whether a user has the features of snapshot, but you cannot set a quota, etc. You cannot control the number of snapshots, a user might take or how much it can grow by. A single snapshot can develop up to the initial size of the virtual machine.

VMware has an interesting poll on the management of the snapshot some time ago and some of the questions can suggest future features that could allow a type of instant control growth, etc. We will have to wait and see, but as it is today, it is not configurable. You can probably write scripts to monitor these virtual machines and after reaching a threshold, you can draw attention to it and maybe disable the snapshot feature but that will not stop a snapshot to give more if there are major changes in delta.

    Hello

There are two types of memory used, one is processor memory for control plan, for the session tracking #, ike, ipsec his and the other is the memory of e/s for incoming and outgoing packets.

The processor memory may still change depending on how ipsec his you, # used ACLs etc, so there is no easy way to track, other than looking at the use of the memory before and after, and again once it is perhaps not very accurate. You can able to look at the memory usage of processes.

The same memory IO, which is usually transient when packets come and go.

  • Allocation of memory consumes items regarding the generations

    Hello

I am trying to understand how the GC and VJM address allocation and GC of large objects. I strive to be able to do the following:

1 start with a small lot size
2 allocate large object-> results by increasing the size of the heap
    3 stop using large object
4 run GC and ultimately without the large object and also reduction of the size of the heap
5 you end up with a size of small piles

To achieve the above, I'm trying to get the object to be allocated to the part of the younger generation.

    a. However, although I put the - XX: MaxNewSize = to a value greater than the size of the object, based on - verbose: gc output, the object is given in the part of the generation tenure, and after GCed, the size of the heap does not decrease.
    b. If I put the value-XX: NewSize = to a value larger than the size of the object, and then based on - verbose: gc output, the object is indeed attributed to the part of the younger generation. However, the heap is not diminished after GCing of the object, because it is the minimum size is set to a value too large.

Y at - it a bug in the behavior above - especially in one. ? Given that - XX: MaxNewSize = is greater than the size of the object, the virtual machine to increase the size of the part, rather than to assign the object as a Professor, I would have expected.

I was also wondering if there is another way to get the desired behavior.

    Best wishes

Although largely correct, a common misconception is that this will result in memory "rejection" to the BONE. This is not the case. Actually virtual memory is allocated to the JVM on start up (to maximum size) however that this memory is used allocate pages of real memory to the JVM. When you reduce consumption, "free" memory reported by the operating system will not change. The virtual memory of the application has not changed and the real memory will be released to other applications if they require it (your memory "liberated" may be reversed on the disk that will be a big hit to your application if you need it again)

    a. However, although I put the - XX: MaxNewSize = to a value greater than the size of the object, based on - verbose: gc output, the object is given in the part of the generation tenure, and after GCed, the size of the heap does not decrease.

You should see the amount of free memory in the increase of the jVM.

Y at - it a bug in the behavior above - especially in one. ?

No, the JAVA virtual machine has always worked this way as it is the number of channels C works.

Given that - XX: MaxNewSize = is greater than the size of the object, the virtual machine to increase the size of the part, rather than to assign the object as a Professor, I would have expected.

He will place always large objects in space holds no matter how big the NewSize is. BTW: the new size is the sum of the eden and the spaces of two survivors. You need the new size large enough to make the free eden is superior to your object until it had a chance (or decrease your ratio of survivor)

I was also wondering if there is another way to get the desired behavior.

My suggestion would be to not allocate and release the large objects repeatedly. If possible, recycle and reuse large objects so they are created once at startup.

  • Rundll32.exe is to consume a quantity of cash out of memory.

I had a Dell laptop for three years which is under Vista Home Premium (32-bit version), and it works more slowly than the molasses for several months now.  When you view the Windows Task Manager, I see that there are often four versions of rundll32.exe running with individual files sizes ranging from 150 to 680 MB, and that physical memory consumed is indicated as being from 86% to 97%.  Is it possible that this Windows file is corrupted?  It is downloadable from a safe site to replace my existing rundll32.exe file?

I had Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus running and I used the software of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, but none reported any virus or other infections.  I also run the disk cleanup and defragmentation of disk on a regular basis.

HOW can I SUBSTITUTE of INK CARTRIDGE EXPIRATION IN HP all-in-one 8600

    Hi @jfinny,

I am able to provide you with more information about your printer model 8600 and its ink delivery system.

Only some models of HP printers supports a substitution.

If supported by your printer, when you print, you should be prompted to press OK on the printer to continue.

If you do not get the prompt to click OK, your printer will deal with the similarly outdated cartridge as it does a cartridge missing or empty. It is designed to protect the entire printhead inside the unit.

You can view more information about these resources:
Consumable inkjet HP - ink Expiration

Cannot print when one of the HP ink cartridges is empty

You can also take a look at the limited warranty for print HP ink and print heads replaceable by the customer of consumables HP inkjet cartridges.

    I found this information in the HP Officejet Pro 8600 - User Guide, but I don't know if it helps at all;

Used with this printer HP cartridges contain a memory chip that helps with the use of the printer. More, this memory chip collects a limited set of information about the use of the printer, which may include the following: the date when the cartridge has been installed, the date where the cartridge of the last use, the number of pages printed using the cartridge, coverage of the page printing modes used, any printing error that occurred and model of printer. This information helps HP design future printers to meet the printing of our customers needs.

To disable the collection of usage information:
    1. on the printer control panel, press the arrow to the rightand then press Setup.
    2. Select Preferences, and then on cartridge chip information.
    3. press OK to disable the collection of usage information.

NOTE: If you disable the memory chip's ability to collect information on the use of the printer, you can still continue to use the cartridge in the printer HP.

I would like to know if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hear from you!

    Thank you
