Memory consumed more memory granted

Hello

I did a test on my server ESXi and discovered that memory consumed was more than granted memory. All my guests were 32-bit, a mix of XP and Kubuntu (16). I got paravirtualization enabled for a single virtual machine for kubuntu, others were running the default configuration. What consumed more memory granted memory?

I have attached a screenshot.

Thank you

Ojas

Consumed takes into account VM above, granted does not work.

  • Virtual machine consuming more memory Balloning and swap

    Hello

I use the script healthcheck powershell for esxi cluster. The report of script detects the virtual machine runs on the server consuming more swap ESXi (myesxservername) and MemoryBallonKB.The SQL server is installed on this server with 4 GB of RAM and runs on VAPP resource pool. Resources of VAPP, booking resources pool memory is configured 326MB and limit is unlimited. Properties of Machine resources virtual Allocation of memory is limited to 2 GB.

I checked using the server ESXi balloning in Vcenter on the use and real-time is Ko 1111652 and for other servers clustered ESXi is 0 (Zero). As the script detects the memory usage Balloning increases because of this virtual machine. The ESXi server where virtual memory is hosted are not overcommitted memory.

I have quite a face never this problem. Help, please.

You must remove the limit of memory on the properties of the VM and make it unlimited.

If you set the virtual computer with the allocation of RAM of 4 GB and 2 GB limit it will mean the VM will only use 2 GB of physical RAM (limit) and the rest will be exchanged in the file vswap. In this case, if the virtual machine to use 100% of allocated ram it will swap 2 GB on the disk.

Just delete the memory limit on the virtual machine and let the resource pool contained controll VMs

a virtual machine cannot use more RAM that allocated, so the limit should never be used in production.

  • consuming more data system services

    Hello world

I'm on a limited package data on mobile. When I use the data on mobile, it's ok. But, when I connect my phone to the computer, the services of agencies use more data than me. For example, I sail around 20 MB and the system is using 80 MB of my 3 G data connection.

I have disabled the Windows Update temporarily. But even after that, my PC running Windows 7 is to consume more data. Is it possible to stop system services that use the internet?

I could control the service using resource monitor, but I can't stop them.

I want a program or software that lets only Internet Explorer (IE) IE browser to use internet (and no other service does use the internet.)

  • MAB DEVICES CONSUME MORE LICENSES

    Dear team,

We have the ISE servers with basic license. We use the ISE services only to the Dot1x for users authentication and authentication for Cisco IP Phone MAB and printers on the network. We are assigning VLAN dynamic for all devices. AFAIK, MAB will consume only BASE license but now, MAB devices consume more Cisco ISE license.

    We run ISE ver 2.0.0.306.

Please advise if anyone had faced this problem before.

    Thank you best regards &,.

    JALEEL LAJAN

    Ok.

If you see 5 features contoured, ISE don't care on the point of view of license. There aren't any count in license OVER its use.

On your screenshot, you use a group of the printer which is a child of Registereddevices. I think you use this group on the rules of the ISE, all authentication/authorization, passing by this rule that MORE license.

You must create another group with no parent group and you'll never SEE license counters.

    Hope this is clear.

  • Does hibernation consumes more disk space on every hibernation?

I know that hibernation takes disk space, but need more on every hibernation?

    Hi Joseph,.

Thanks for joining us on the Microsoft Community forums.

Hibernation and system restore are features that help users to restore their system or avoid the loss of data, in a number of situations, such as low battery (hibernation), misapplication or other corruption machine installation (System Restore). Combined, these devices consume a large percentage of the footprint. Due to the amount of space these use, they are easy to identify and to make decisions regarding.

Hibernate is mainly used on laptop computers and saves your work on the hard drive, and puts the computer in a low power state.  Hibernate is used on laptop computers when the battery runs out under a certain threshold, or to turn off the computer without using Shut Down to save the batteries as much as possible.  On Windows Vista, hibernation is automatically used with sleep on desktop computers to keep a backup of open programs and work. This feature is called hybrid sleep and is used to save the State in case of power failure hard disk when the computer sleeps.  Hibernate all content in RAM (living) writes a file named Hiberfil.syshard disk.  Therefore, the size of the reserved Hiberfil.sys is equal to the amount of RAM in the machine.  In Windows Vista, the amount of RAM under construction in computers has increased significantly, as well as the footprint of disk hibernation is more sensitive than before. This space should be reserved in advance in order to ensure that, in a critical situation of low battery, the system can easily write contents of memory to disk.  Any user of mobile PC who has known his incoming computer automatically hibernation when the battery is very low allows to enjoy the peace of mind provided by the growth of the footprint.

  • To find which session consumes more processes

    Hello

My db has process = 450, and they be evacuated very soon. Is there a way I can find to see what session is one that consumes the maximum number of processes?

    Thank you

    Aurélie

I think you have to be troubled by the use of the memory. As Aman said you set a higher value (for the process parameters) according to your need.

I faced a similar question earlier. The culprit was the number of inactive sessions (there is an idle session who were 2 weeks old). I checked the number of inactive sessions by assigning the profile to them (idle). As each dedicated connection consumes 1024 k of memory, which can be minimized by using orastack. "Orastack" utility intended to minimizing the use of the memory of 'oracle.exe' and 'tnslsnr.exe. It is safe.

You can opt for shared server, but it has limitations:

    1. in the batch process underway
    2. in taking RMAN backup
    3. in the power on/off

You can use the process of $ v and v$ session to discover the culprit. I use * "Process Monitor" * for the same thing, it is the free tool provided by Microsoft and good results as NIX systems.

Switching to 64 bit and adding more physical memory may be another option.

    Kind regards
    S.K.

It is correct.  The fan works more quickly to cool a processor that is widely used.

  • Formatting data as xml to consume more time

    Hello

I have a procedure that reads almost 10 000 records of the PL/SQL using the table looping and formatted in XML format using the soap_api package. Add_parameter and is assigned to a variable of clob which works very well. The problem that I'm having, is that it takes more time for the formatting that affects performance. • How to find the sessions/user consuming more tablespace temp

Recently, we encountered the issue of the pic suddenly in the CPU usage and the use of temp tablespace. After Apr CPU 2009 patch and upgrade to 10.2.0.4, we notice this question.

Recently temp space was full and we have added 18 GB of temp tablespace, a few hours, they are also eaten.

The application team said that they do not modify any code. ADDM report suggests most of the recommendations related to SQL tuning only

not sure of the real issue. Can someone tell me how I can find out what all the sessions/user consuming high temp tablespace

Run query to check if it is used by any session below.

    Select sum (a.BYTES_USED) / 1024/1024 used_mb, sum (b.bytes) / 1024/1024 total_mb,
    Sum (a.BYTES_USED) / sum (b.bytes) * 100 pct_used
    v $ TEMP_EXTENT_POOL, $ v b tempfile
    where a.file_id (+) = b.file #.

But when I turn off my net by right clicking on the icon in the status bar notification area and select Disable, after a while, one of the svchost.exe process begins to consume more than 90% cpu. Also its members use is superior to 40 000 K and my computer responds very slowly.

Also as soon as I finish this process my computer responds normally.
Also when I shut down my computer shows blue scree an additional message «closing network connections...» ', this isn't usually comes.
    Please help me...
    Thank you

Are you now a statement is not a problem.

    1. the amount of memory in the "working set" of a process (10 000 K = 10 MB) should not be a problem for most systems.  Even an old computer running XP probably has at least 512 MB of RAM installed.

2 PIDs are specific to your system.  Reports that a process has 912 PID doesn't mean anything to anyone else.  The svchost.exe instance you mention hosts most of all instances of svchost services into a Windows XP system (this is the "netsvcs" of services group), is not at all surprising that he needs more memory.

Buried in this long list of services is wuauserv, which is the Windows Update automatic update service.  It wouldn't surprise me at all if this is the service that used a lot of cycles CPU when you shut down your Internet connection.

If you 'end process' for this instance of svchost, most of the things that will stop working are related to the network, which may be important to you if you have disconnected your network connection.  Not all, however, are related to the network.  For example, the sound does work more (AudioSrv).

For more information, go here--> http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-xp-x86-32-bit-service-pack-3-service-configurations/ names when you run tasklist/SVC are the "service name" rather than the name, "display" then click on the header in the second column of the table in the Black Viper to sort by service name.  You can click on the "display name" of the any services to learn more on this subject.

  • JDeveloper integrated WebLogic Server consumes large amounts of memory

    Hello

    Fusion Middleware Version: 11.1.1.7

    WebLogic: 10.3.6.0

    JDeveloper Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.7.0_GENERIC_130226.1400.6493

    JDK: Sun JVM (1.6) 64-bit

O/s on the Machine running JDeveloper: Windows XP 64-bit

Memory on the Machine running JDeveloper: 8GB

I use the following settings in the my WLS integrated setDomainEnv.cmd file to manage the size of heap.

    -Xms256m-Xmx1024m - XX: CompileThreshold = 8000 - XX: PermSize = 256 m - XX: MaxPermSize = 512 m

Run a page simple jspx containing ADF task flows results in use of heap around 400 MB when listening via jconsole.  After completing the re-execution of the page (right click-> run) the memory used by java process continues to grow, but the use of heap does not change.  Although the definition of a maximum segment size of 1 GB, the java process regularly consume more than 2 GB of memory on the computer when monitored via the Task Manager.

When the java process memory arrives at this size it is not possible to stop the WLS integrated with JDeveloper, the terminate function is simply suspended, and the java process must be killed in Task Manager.  In addition this behavior causes high memory virtual page files accumulate on the machine (> 5 GB) that finally kills performance.

Can anyone offer an overview of this behavior?

The Sun HotSpot JVM memory is split into 3 areas of memory (Java Heap, heap and native heap PermGen):

Java Heap space - HotSpot VM ~ models Support of Java EE

"PermGen" means 'Permanent Generation', which comes from the fact that this segment is never garbage collected (i.e. the memory of objects created in this heap Java never came out). The JVM creates one objects that should not die, for example instances of class and class method. Every time that you run the application, a new instance of the Web application is deployed on the server. Each new instance of the application has its own class loader, which causes the JVM create new instances of the class class and method in the PermGen space. As has been said, the segment memory PermGen is never garbage collected, so the memory occupied by instances of class and method of the previous application instance is not released. If you redeploy (for example, execution of JDev) a large number of times, the PermGen space will get finally out of memory and the application server hangs.

    -Xms256m-Xmx1024m - XX: PermSize = 256 m - XX: MaxPermSize = 512 m

Although the definition of a maximum segment size of 1 GB, the java process regularly consume more than 2 GB of memory on the computer when monitored via the Task Manager.

You have specified a lot of Java 1 GB, but there are also a bunch of PermGen separated from 512 MB. Also the JVM consumes little native memory for the native heap, and the process of the JVM itself needs some native memory to launch and run. All this had formed the value of 2 GB that you saw in the Manager of tasks of your machine.

This means that the memory usage is not critical at the moment?

Because my goal is testing a critical state, I have to add more virtual machines?

Is there a way to reduce the amount of physical memory (for testing purposes) without removing physical memory banks (i.e. by adding a confnguration parameter to limit the amount of physical memory)?

    No, I don't see any.

This means that the memory usage is not critical at the moment?

Yes, this means the use of the meory is not critical at the moment that this is just the allocated memory and not the use of memory active.

Because my goal is testing a critical state, I have to add more virtual machines?

Not necessarily. You can also increase the load on the current virtual computer.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of physical memory (for testing purposes) without removing physical memory banks (i.e. by adding a confnguration parameter to limit the amount of physical memory)?

    No I don't think so.

  • Space filling without reason for memory/hard disk

I am working with a large file MS Word (currently, it is great close to 1 GB) and every time I use the file or open it in preview, my computer crashes, slows down, and the amount of disk space hard be used rapidly decreases.  I started with 10 + GB of free space, now I'm less than 2 and get the computer error messages telling me that my hard drive is almost full.  I do not know how to find the files that are clearly in place so I can delete them.  Display hidden files did not reveal anything.  It got to the point where I can open is no longer the large file the computer tells me that the file is damaged.  Reboot does not restore the lack of available disk space.  I am at my wit's end and that you have already removed many other video files and photo I can to free up space.  If not for this problem, I'm sure I'd have at least 20 GB of free space now.  What I can do to understand where space and eliminate permanently?  I need at least another hour to continue working on this issue!

Starting with the system will create a swap file at least as large as the file being opened. If changes are made then these files will usually stick around as auto-enregistre until the file itself is saved or closed. It is also possible that the large file pushes the other system processes in virtual memory on the disk. That said, unless there are compression/decompression funky stuff going on that I can't imagine a 1 GB file to consume more than 10 GB in "temporary" resources

I would like to check the status of the Application ~/Library/Caches/ and ~/Library/Saved / for the missing hard drive space (you may need to use the GoTo option in the Finder).

Usually nothing deleted in the above locations will be automatically recreated when you next run of the corresponding application, but clearing out rarely used application files could release (temporarily) a little extra space. Destruction can also solve problems of application-specific file corruption.

Otherwise double check that you remembered to empty the trash.

  • RN104 immediately 'out of 390 memory' error after 6.2.2 - > 6.2.5-> 6.4.2 upgrade

I decided to update my firmware for 2 years and more old 6.2.2 to a more recent and stable version. Later in the branch 6.4 seemed OK-> 9 months, so I thought that it is proven. I wasn't hurt, I narrowly missed all the problems that others have reported the...

You know, in the work, that I am a responsible administrator, reading notes of any publication, all procedures, laboratory before trying in production tests. But home - well, I'm just a home user better-class. I read the release notes for known issues - no such section in NETGEAR. So I tried forums, not much, so I went ahead. Come on, Netgear! How can you expect users domestic to be able to dig into your KB and/or the forums for hours to learn everything they can or not needed for a successful update? I dig now, because this time has priority! But before, I had homework of my children to help with etc. I don't have another system at home to do the tests on...

Now my system with 5 + TB (4 x 2 TB drives) of data goes into error __out_of_memory_390 on 1 or 2 minutes after I start. All posts here reiterate one and the only solution:

1 save the config and all data (this should be possible even in my situation using 'Volume read-only' option in the Boot menu-> How to check to http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22891/~/how-do-i-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-readynas-1...).

    2 perform a reset.

3 configure the NAS from scratch or restore the configuration.

    4. restore your data (can be difficult if you use start files - all users individual need to restore their data themselves as far as I understand it - not even the administrator will be able to restore the permissions correctly - weird for me, but it is also not confirmed).

I don't like this kind of solutions, but enough complaining... I have only used the SIN as a NFS storage device and wasn't using snapshots on the NFS share, and was not using any other feature. Nevertheless, I believe that my problem can be caused by too many clichés. I think that this _must_be_ article related to all the release notes and upgrade the firmware procedures:

    http://KB.NETGEAR.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/30033

So far, I tried "Reinstall OS" in the menu of boot without success. This morning, I put in a working spare 500 GB and put disc to update firmware for 6.5.0. The machine works well, but my goal is to put in my 4 drives (he'll upgrade the firmware of drives for what is in flash on the NAS, i.e. 6.5.0) tonight in the hope that: -.

-l' error not at all, or

-at least I'll have enough time to remove a few shots before they appear.

If this isn't the case, I'll try to upgrade to 6.5.1 using the scratch disk and try again. If no success, I have to take the system to the laboratory work to safeguard, reset and restore. I don't have any other place where I can find 6 TB of space...

I will let you know my results.

Now, I wanted to pass my message to: -.

-Community = hourly defrag/scrub/balance of your berries + disable and remove snapshots if you don't need them + do not trust the seller this update of the firmware is painless and safe.

-Netgear = no home user is interested by the products for which you have 10 + years of experience to set up and maintain and 1 day of research work of documentation to just update of firmware and backup data off it just in case.

I'm not out of the woods yet, but I've made considerable progress.

I was able to start mode 'volume read-only', which was reassuring. At least I'd be able to save data...

So, I tried to find what is really happening in the system. So I connected via SSH and looked at the use of the system. As soon as the volume of data has been mounted, btrfs-cleaner process appeared. He attached the CPU at 100%, which would not be a problem in itself. But it also consumes more and more memory and when the system began to Exchange, he on the ground to stop. I did another test - started in 'volume read-only' mode, logged as root and run "mount-o remount, rw/data". The result is the same--btrfs-cleaner ate all memory, swapping started, the system stopped. Still, the finger is pointed on either (too many processes etc) snapshots, or quotas (newly introduced function).

After another "volume read-only' mode initialize-go to top, I ran this:

    Mount o remount, rw/data; Btrfs quota disable/data

and the system remained OK, no btrfs-cleaner, nothing. So I put all other btrfs file systems (get the list with ' mount | grep btrfs'). In my case:
-the list of volumes of btrfs: -.

    md127/dev/on/data type btrfs (rw, noatime, nodiratime, nodatasum, nospace_cache, subvolid = 5, subvol = /)
    / dev/md127 on /apps type btrfs (rw, noatime, nodiratime, nodatasum, nospace_cache, subvolid = 257, subvol = / .apps)
    / dev/md127 market/House type btrfs (rw, noatime, nodiratime, nodatasum, nospace_cache, subvolid = 256, subvol = / home)
    / dev/md127 on/var/ftp/home type btrfs (rw, noatime, nodiratime, nodatasum, nospace_cache, subvolid = 256, subvol = / home)
    / dev/md127 on/run/nfs4/data/Shared type btrfs (rw, noatime, nodiratime, nodatasum, nospace_cache, subvolid = 275, subvol = / Shared)
    / dev/md127 on/run/nfs4/home type btrfs (rw, noatime, nodiratime, nodatasum, nospace_cache, subvolid = 256, subvol = / home)

-orders up and disable quotas: -.

Mount o option remount, rw/home; Btrfs quota disable/Home
Mount o remount, rw /apps; Btrfs quota disable /apps
Mount o option remount, rw/var/ftp/home; Btrfs quota disable/var/ftp/home
Mount o option remount, rw, run, nfs4, host; Btrfs quota disable/run/nfs4/home
Mount o remount, rw/run/nfs4/data/Shared; Btrfs quota disable run/nfs4/data/Shared

Note that run/nfs4/data/Shared is my NFS share and you will not have it for sure. Your list may be very different.

Still no btrfs-cleaner, the system still running OK. So I removed all the snapshots (note: I do not use them at all, your implementation may be different, but you may need to do too much in to restore the system).
How to remove snapshots - well, first you must have a list of the configs - they are in fact numbers and their number corresponds with the County of volume btrfs: -.

    LS/etc/snapper/configs

    You can also find what config is for how much (smilies are actually two points and the capital S);

    root@Kostka:~# grep VOLUME/etc/snapper/configs / *.
    0UBVOLUME = "/ data/backup".
    1UBVOLUME = "/ data/Documents.
    2UBVOLUME = "/ data / music»
    3UBVOLUME = "images / data / '.
    4UBVOLUME = "/ data / Shared.
    5UBVOLUME = "/ data/videos»

    Then run for each configuration:

    list

It will show you something like:

    Type | # | Pre # | Date of | The user | Cleaning | Description | UserData
    -------+-----+-------+----------------------------------+------+---------+-------------+----------------------

    only | 141. | Saturday, August 6, 2016 12 h 00:58 CEST | root | | | snapshot = c_1470434458
    only | 148. | Saturday, August 13, 2016 12 h 00:05 CEST | root | | | snapshot = c_1471039205
    only | 155. | Saturday, August 20, 2016 12:00:25 AM CEST | root | | | snapshot = c_1471644025
    only | 158. | Tuesday, August 23, 2016 12 h 00:08 CEST | root | | | snapshot = c_1471903208
    ..
cut = there are daily snapshots
    ..
    only | 181. | Thu 15 Sep 2016 12 h 00:21 CEST | root | | | snapshot = c_1473890421

And now, you clean all of them, but the current. The command is "snapper - c remove 1 -", in my case, for example "remove snapper - c 0 1-181'." They were all size zero, so it took less than a second.

I then rebooted in normal mode. The current state of the system is:-
-Snapshots deleted and all the decision-making of snapshots off.
-Disabled quota. It is for sure not supported by Netgear. Some things may be broken. Firmware update may enable them or fail because of them being disabled. Etc.
-Now I'm balancing, defragmentation and rub the volume. I have not found in what order it is best to do, KB #26941 Netgear's advice is to rub rarely, defrag occasionally and balance regularly. My volume 6 TB took 10.5 hours balancing, 4.5 hours to defragment and it took 13 hours to rub at 30%.

    Next steps: -.
-Check the integrity of the data.
-Activate the quotas and see if the system comes up normally.
