Catalyst Control Center won't save my switchable graphics settings

I recently got a HP dv6 and I really like it. It comes with a dedicated graphics of Radeon 6490 Mr. I had no problem with using it until I upgraded my Catalyst 11.1 Control Center, I think. I've since had questions apply settings that I put for switchable graphics. I can open and only display the CCC and switchable graphics, no problem:

As you can see in the photo above, it seems to work and detect applications. Here is an example of one of the settings I wanted:

But, when I want to record the settings changed in switchable graphics and press on apply, the settings back to the way they have been, and will not, save like nothing happened. Is not only between saving energy and High Performance card settings, she also won't let me not affect more requests. I can clearly remember as I could when I got this computer. I'm not sure but I think it was version 10 or something. I am able to just switch to a graphics special in fixed Mode very well, but I want to use switchable graphics and save energy on my laptop. This version of the CCC I have now when I go to preferences--> on the Catalyst Control Center. I think that it is 11.12.

I'm pretty sure I have all the drivers for the card update, but AMD doesn't let me use downloads of their cause of site I should use the manufacturer programs I think. I have automatic updates turned on, including HP Support Assistant. I tried to look online for a solution, and the closest thing I've found is this site: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1819873 which is a blog with someone who has almost the same problem as me, but without solution. I could perhaps try to downgrade, but I can't find a way to do this or a download link.

I really need help with that. Please and thank you

Hello. I don't know if you have already solved your problem, but his should help other people as well in any case. I managed to solve this problem today on my laptop. What I've done, it's the Division of hp drivers, I downloaded catalyst (catalyst in the ati site gave me this problem). the driver that ships with this catalyst did not work, so I used windows update to get a working driver. so, in theory, what you have to do is download from the hp Web site catalyst, and during installation you select custom and click Next until what he gives you a list of the programs you want to install. You should uncheck everything except catalyst. (do NOT install the driver gpu, catalyst ONLY)
I'll post a link for the driver for my laptop model, but since you will only need a catalyst, it shouldn't be a problem.
for windows 32 bit-> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-100313-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4062&product=5118769&sw_lang=
for windows 64-bit-> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-100313-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=5118769&sw_lang=
You can also search for your model, but I recommend not to install the driver anyway. just get it from windows update, I have assumed that you already have the driver anyway. Good luck.

  • Catalyst Control Center won't open, please help

    Hello everyone I have a laptop HP DV7 - 6 c 00 with a card ATI Radeon HD 7470 M running on 64-bit Windows 7 SP1.

Now a few days ago, I could open Catalyst Control Center (CCC) or "configure switchable graphics" but now, for some reason that I'm not able to open what makes me really upset because I've had nothing but bad luck with this laptop.

When I was able to open CCC when I tried to configure switchable graphics, it only helped me select programs to use with switchable graphics, this is not what I wanted.

I wanted to like my other HP laptop where if I plug my charger it asks me to change graphics card and if I unplug it, same thing.

I could get my other laptop works correctly with the switchable graphics option in getting the last graphic card ATI radeon for this laptop, but for some reason that I can't do with this laptop. It seems that the pilot of 7470 m radeon hd can only come from HP.

Even when I downloaded the correct driver or automatic detection utlity Radeon site, it gives me an error of incompatible hardware, and the installation is aborted.

So very well since I wanted to correct my switchable grahics problem where it is more general (not ask me to change when I plug / unplug the charger) told me that I had to update my bios. Then I updated my bios from HP website. Here is the link I used

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=5214391&...

Okay, so after I updated my bios I've gone into bios and entered the 'switchable graphics option' and changed momentum for "fixed".

After the reboot, I can not open the CCC (I could not open it before that the bios update or the other, I was hoping that the bios update would fix it)

Then I tried to go to the "HP Recovery Manager" and reinstall the AMD graphics card driver, which didn't work.

I tried to go to 'Add Remove Programs' and I tried the 'fix' of 'Catalyst Install Manager' option and it does not work...

As I said... I am very satisfied with this laptop, it seems that it is almost a daily chore to keep this laptop work properly. Every day, it seems that I'm fixing something...

Personally, I don't know if switchable graphics has been a great idea/option, I mean, he seems to have the best intentions in the world, but all google searches I've done, it seems hardly all work correctly.

Now, I am a dedicated HP customer, I bought 10 + laptops and desktops Desktop 5 + years, but I am very disappointed with this laptop... or maybe I'm just upset =)

Is someone can please tell me what I should do to get CCC works so I can set up my advanced graphics card and fix my switchable graphics.

Now, none of the drivers were working from the AMD website, but I could try to download their Catalyst Control Center app, do you think it would work?

I really need some advice on this one there...

Thank you all for your time and help

OK well first off I want to thank everyone for all their support and answers! Hahah =-)

Well, since I've had these great suggestions, it was extremely simple to fix this problem...

Okay well I was able to find a solution to this problem on mine and here is how I did incase anyone runs into this problem and is in need of a solution as well...

As I said above "switchable graphics" has never worked on my HP Pavilion DV7 laptop since the first day. So in order to get switchable graphics work where he asked me "can I watch change graphics card" anytime I plug or unplug my charger for my laptop, I had to update the bios.

After I updated the bios and rebooted the computer I had to go into the bios settings and change switchable graphics of 'dynamic'-> 'fixed '. This would allow graphics cards to move whenever the charger is plugged or unplugged, only graphic rather than spend proccessors on some applications (which is a nightmare!)

Good then after that I updated the bios I tried to open it "catalyst control center" which does not open. After trying to reinstall the graphics driver to "hp Recovery Center" CCC would not always open.

    So here's what I did...

First of all, I went 'Add Remove Programs' and remove the Cataylist Installation Manager

Then, I ran CCleaner and did an analyization of my registry and delete everything that relates to the ATI graphics card, which had lots of locations in the registry.

Then I went to the official driver from HP site for my laptop computer and downloaded the driver for my graphics driver for Radeon HD 7470 M.

After installing the driver and restarting my computer, I could finally open Catalyst Control Center and switchable graphics finally working the way I wanted it!

Well now, this problem is resolved...

Right, now I always have problems with BSOD (blue screen of death) which I think that I have under control, but now I'm having a problem with my laptop which no matter when he goes into "sleep mode" and I try to take over the laptop, just of freezes and stays on the black screen, even with the light on the button (f10) wifi on and the light button mouse on...

When it goes into sleep mode, I can't get the laptop to resume, I have to turn off it and then restart it back...

I swear that this HP Pavilion DV7 was nothing else than to the problems of... but me, I learned a lot by setting all his questions and I hope to have this resolved as well...

Well I hope that my experience with Catalyst Control Center and switchable graphics will help someone else's problem, and thank you all who participate on this forum (but not on my thread!)  =)

Well, I just want to say one thing... HP makes great computer/laptop and I love them. All computers will have problems, it's just normal. I know that my next HP computer will not switchable graphics!

    Hello

That HP have not yet released the AMD Setup you need, you could try the switchable graphics avaiable to measure on the following link - I suggest that you read the guide on how to install these drivers correctly.  It is also important to note that the driver signature enforcement is disabled so that these drivers to load, - more details can be found here.

    Hello

    @shenlon

I do not understand everything that you need or what you've done. Can you give a more detailed explanation?

Did move you from an earlier Windows 7 operating system?

What discrete graphics (NVIDIA or AMD) card is installed in your laptop?

    What is the installed processor?

You will need to install only the system of operatng any graphical drive AMD high definition (HD) to return the Catalyst Control Center that allows the switchable graphics. Run the installer twice. The first time you run it delete everything when asked and second time install everything when asked.

The required drivers for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are found in the following web support document. What one do need it?

Click on edit and then click Update to change the version of Windows drivers that appear.

Answer my questions in a new post instead of constantly changing the original to avoid confusion. I really can't help you if you don't answer my questions.

Please I need your help. I am average in computer science so please help me with the terminologies that are not too geek. Thank you and God bless.

    Hello Cfm56pilot,

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

I understand that your CCC does not, preventing you to set your graphics card. I'll do what I can to help you with this problem!

Normally, uninstall CCC, then your graphics driver is how to begin troubleshooting. Once they are gone, reinstall the graphics driver, then the CCC. I have seen this to solve this question several times. You can use HP Recovery Manager to reinstall the CCC and the appropriate driver. I'll give you a document containing the steps on how to do: use the Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers

I think the problem will be solved for these measures. Whatever it is, please provide your results. Thanks again for the display on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • dv7t-6c00Quad installed Win8Pro (final version) & ATI Catalyst Control Center fails

My laptop is the dv7t-6 c 00 Quad and I just installed the version of Windows8 Pro (I am a member of MSDN Developer).

Everything went fine EXCEPT the ATI Catalyst Control Center does NOT work.  I tried to reinstall the graphics driver (sp55098.exe), but it won't work because it does not "meet the minimum requirements" (which I assume means that it has not been updated to handle Windows8.

The result is that my system has become unstable. I guess that's because the control center would deal with switching between low power and high power/performance chipsets.  I noticed that this change can occur on the fly and seems to have with a web browser (Internet Explorer).

It's REALLY BAD, because it crashes my system.

Please respond and tell me that there is a SOLUTION NOW!

    * Notes: I tried to launch Catalyst Control Center and get this message, "Catalyst Control Center cannot be started.  There are currently no parameters that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center".  AAARGH!

    Tom

It's the definitive answer to AMD.  HP must deliver the updated for my portable operarting under Windows8 Catalyst drivers.  I hope it will be soon.  In fact, I'd be happy to beta test.

Here is the answer from AMD:

    Dear Thomas,

Your service request: SR #{ticketno: [8200508926]} has been reviewed and updated.

History of application of Service and response:

As AMD only provides the reference for laptops drivers (provided as-is with limited support), sometimes our software is not compatible because changes made to the graphics card from the laptop manufacturer to improve stability and performance in the laptop. The error you receive indicates that the Radeon card in your laptop is incompatible with our drivers, since the manufacturer of your laptop has changed the Radeon card enough such that our drivers will work with your product. As such, you will need to contact HP for pilots and support to download and install. We will have all the drivers for your system that will be compatible, you will be forced to go with HP. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

Download the softpaq to download driver HP portal section AMD graphics driver web support for your laptop. Double-click the downloaded softpaq. It will install the driver AMD, Catalyst Control Center and driver Intel.

Do not install the Intel graphics driver separately. This will stop the switchable graphics feature can be used.

Do not install the graphics drivers Intel or AMD. The drivers from the manufacturer are not to conform to the switchable graphics feature. This is why they do not work. Install graphics HP drivers only if you want the feature to function.

  • ATI catalyst control center update for hd 7670 (mobility)

Hello people I recently bought a HP Ppavilion g6 x 2014 book with and graphics card Radeon hd 7670 m now I want to update its drivers to the Catalyst Control Center latest! How to do this and is it drivers of mobility may be able to get the update? Please help me! and if not why isn't HP releasing new updates for these ati cards

I understand that you want to update your AMD drivers.

It seems that the t can be absent from g6-2014tx.  What is your laptop?  In General, the AMD driver can be placed on the provided HP driver.  It should work with switchable graphics systems and for systems that have no switchable graphics.

An important note about updating the driver and graphic systems switchable.  If your laptop comes with switchable graphics, do NOT uninstall any HP video card driver.  This could lead to the switchable graphics system become corrupted, requiring a full recovery to solve the problem.  Drivers can be installed the driver from HP.

A second note is to make sure that .NET Framework 4.0 is installed.  This can be checked in programs and features, or by installing it manually to be sure, it is installed.  If you need this, it can be found here.

Instead of download the portable version of the driver, don't forget to download the desktop version of the driver.  The pilot will include desktop and mobile versions in a single package.  The latest version as of today can be found here.

During the installation of the driver, be sure to choose custom install instead of car or express.  If you choose custom, you will be able to see a list of all the drivers and software that will be installed.  If display driver and Catalyst Control Center is listed, then you should be good to proceed with the installation.

Let me know if that answers your question.

  • T400, cannot start the Catalyst Control Center - error 'GPU active not supported'.

on a machine running vista business 64-bit current t400.

last week all was hunky dory.  This week, when I try to open my ati catalyst (CCC) control center, I have the following error:

"ATI catalyst control center cannot be started because the active gpu is not managed.

I read a few posts on this problem from not using the ATI graphics card and being rather on the integrated graphics card.  indicate the positions I could reactivate CCC simply by clicking on the battery icon in the system tray and selecting "mode high performance" to force the machine to use the discreet graphics card.  After I do and then try to start the CCC, I get the same error as above.  at this point after switching to the mode high peformance, my device manager also lists "mobile Intel (r) 4 series express chipset family ' as my graphics again.  If I have left or right click on the battery icon in the status bar, I don't see any options for explicitly switching cards.

the card driver intel 4 mobile is listed as being from ATI to version 8.520.4.4000.

I'm not sure of my version of the driver for the ATI card.  and I don't know where to look for it.

to my knowledge, nothing but a number of 'critical' windows updates have changed on my system between the time when CCC was working last week now.

any suggestions on how to fix this?  and what it does to stop working?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I finally thought to it.  and no new drivers or relocations were necessary.  at the end of the day, all I had to do was turn on version lenovo Power Manager (which appear in my taskbar like a horizontal green battery with the number of minutes of use remaining).  from there I can left click and access the menu that has the switchable graphics option where I can choose the economy of energy or high performance.  If a from there, I select high performance, I can then open CCC.

the important thing please note this is to access this menu, you must be using power management program of LENOVO thinkVantage (sticking the Green battery on your taskbar icon), NOT windows built in the power manager, which appears as a vertical grey/blue /? battery in the tray system (at least on mine).  Once you have, you can explicitly pass the graphics cards.

the strange thing is, I had been accessing CCC without explicitly switching the cards without problem until last week.  so in a way that the default setting should of spent high-performance energy saving, thus putting me on the integrated graphic card unless I went it manually.  weird.

slide, thank you for your help.  I appreciate it.  and it is an interesting note on freeing more memory by disabling the switchable graphics.  I'll probably this give it a shot and see how I like it.  memory is never bad!

Thanks again to everyone who helped.

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

  • Catalyst Control Center: Host has stopped working

Whenever I start my old Toshiba laptop computer for 3 years, I get this message: host of Catalyst Control Center has stopped working and then nothing. I check the current update drivers says it all day, but I went on this site called Driver Whiz and he says I'm wrong 8 things with my computer Says: Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller... out of date... then 2 ATI HDMI Audio... updated... then system devices said ATI 1/0 5 MB... updated... communication processor and then disconnected devices : 4 JMB38X MS Host peripheral COntroller is disconnected, but they want 50 buck for them to fix it when I downloaded what I thought was that it was free so now it's on my computer... UGH!

My LT is a Toshiba Satellite A665D

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1

Processoer:AMD Phenom (tm) II P920Quad Core (4 CPUs) processor clocked at 1.6 GHz

    BIOS: 19:13:52 VER: 08.00.0

    Memory: 4096 MB Ram

    DirectX 11

I am running Iolo System Mechanic 11 on my machine for detection of spyware, malware, viruses and been with them for 5 years and this has NEVER happened since I was with them. My Toshiba Service Station does not work and tried to contact Toshiba as well, but yet they want the money for technical advice. I know that somebody here is tech savey and I am disabled and do not have the money to repair this laptop so please can someone there give me info on how to get back to his old self of my machine? Oh and btw, I did a system restore, but this message from Catalyst Control Center is yet to come. PLEASE HELP ME AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

"I went on this site called Driver Whiz and he says I'm wrong 8 things with my computer.
Don't believe one thing, or say similar sites. They are only after your money.
To top it off they often install software that can be difficult to uninstall, and if
you don't uninstall it you get messages.
It seems that there are a lot of discussions about uninstalling the program driver Wiz, but I
guess the best place to start is to their own site-

    http://driverwhiz.com/support/uninstall
If that won't uninstall not indeed their software, then you may need to do more
    read other threads.

"Microsoft downloaded as 13 updates when I turned off my computer.

I hope that you do not say that you stop the machine while the updates were
installation. If none simply let problem Windows updates check again and select only a little at a time and let it install, go to learn more. Avoid also the 'Optional '.
    updates, particularly of driver updates.
In regard to it and the fake driver software installed. If you started having problems after that Windows updates don't you have a restore point from the system that dates back to before that you did? If so do the system restore and then move on the updates again. Restoration can even delete 'wiz pilot' with a bit of luck.

Now - 'Catalyst Control Center host has stopped working"I suppose you were
get this error before the debacle "Pilot Wiz"?
I uninstall the drivers ATI and the CCC software via programs and features and then go to the download page of Toshiba for new drivers. It can be pilots became corrupt, but the "updater" does not know this. It checks only to a version of file.
Personally, I do not use updates of autopilots. Best to download the installer and install manually, if Toishiba have this option.

With FB game, you will also want to put Flash Player to - day

  • ATI Catalyst Control Center 8 problem Windows

Hello, I upgraded my ph Pavilion g series at windows 8. But now when I start it, I get the error message that ATI Catalyst Control center needs to be reinstalled. I tried a bunch of times but he returns (reinstalled, tried updates of the ATI site, nothing helps, he said: my driver is correct)

And second, when I start it just sometimes gives a gray screen (and then I press the power button for 5 seconds to close). I think it might be related to my problem of graphics card. I'm a patient person, but I'm a little scared because I have a feeling I won't take long for my laptop to fi serious accident I have to keep doing this.

Someone at - there of collaborative for these 2 problems I have?
