CategoryFolder metadata field

Hello

We are tagging metadata categoryfolder (this is related to recordscomponent) on the ground as non-compulsory in UCM configuration manager. If it is marked as non-mandatory when I try to check it throw error, this field is blank / empty.

In what table to find the categoryfolder of metadata? need to check if the values become property update for this metadata in the database

Let know what the problem is.

Hello Mohan,

Please let us know the details below.

1. what version of UCM/URM is installed in your environment.

2. have you activated DoD as part of the document management component. Usually if we allow DoD then the URM system will archive the content even if the category id field is empty.

You can check the Catefory value or FolderID to a DocMeta content table (xCategoryID).

Kind regards

Maury

    Hello

Are you seriously having over 500 DEFINITIONS of FIELD Application of IPM? If so,.

    What you can do

In the config.cfg to UCM (DomainHome/ucm/cs/config folder) can you add this in the general section:

IpmMaxMetadataFields = 1000 (or any number you want to increase the)

    limit to)

This will overrride the default max value in IPM.

After this change, restart the managed server UCM and IPM.

Please let me know the result.

  • InfoOnly on the profile page metadata field

I have a profile page to check-in and that in one of the rules I have some fields of metadata defined as "InfoOnly" - Let's say that Content ID.

Now, this profile will be used for both search page - how can I do this in the field metadata field "change" so that users can use this field in their search query.

Basically same metadata field should display "InfoOnly" on the check in page, but "edit" on the search page.

Rules do not activate on all services. Only on the document research and services. If you need rules to activate on all services, see the component LoadRuleSideEffect.

If you do not use a condition of activation, while the rule will be activated for any research or related service of the document (depending on the profile or if it's a global rule).

To develop on Caleb's response, here are the exact steps to make this work with a single rule:

    1. Create a global rule
    2. Add the field to the rule as field type 'change '.
    3. Check the box for activation of rule condition (for you can use a side effect). You should not in fact set a condition of activation.
    4. On the effect tab, add this code:

    <$if dpaction="" and="" dpaction="" like="" "checkinnew|checkinsel|update"$="">

    <$xComments:isInfoOnly=1$>

    <$endif$>

    <$endif$>

  • Any plugin filter can use the metadata fields ignored by LR?

    Hello

Assuming I want to install a filter based on the fields LensID or LensIDNumber, LR cannot help. He simply ignores these fields (and others). Y at - it a plugin which is able to do? I tried AnyFilter but it does not work for these fields.

    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, any filter does not have the ability to filter fields that are not already available (which includes LensID and LensIDNumber).

However, you can use the Data Explorer plugin for group photos with any visible metadata field to the free utility of Exiftool.

  • The location of the custom metadata fields

I'm trying to locate the custom metadata fields. Consider a custom metadata field where his dname = xPracticeWork and dCaption = practical work.

I am trying to locate it using the old way.

When to activate the settings regional french user and see this metadata field appears in English. When I turn on the location in the information system Audit, it is said

unable to find string 'fr.Practice Work'

    So I tried including < @fr. The practice of work =Work practice@ >

but he throws and error message saying unknown resource definition tag

If I do the dCaption as PracticeWork and try to < @fr. PracticeWork =Work practice@ > it works absolutely well.

It seems that the practical work being two letter word definition tag allows no space.

Can someone please help me on this.

    Thank you

It's very simple, you write a string that you want to display in the form of legend (I use this trick in the profiles, if I want to rename a metadata custom field exist for the type having a different meaning), or write you a string Id cannot contain spaces, which solved somewhere, usually a custom - component see what thread change location String for details how to create a resource exploitation translations.

  • Mapping of metadata fields for the Lightroom import process

Does anyone know what metadata fields using Adobe when playing jpg in a Windows (2000, XP, 7) environment? I tried many variations of the title, caption (subject), comments, and other areas. It seems that the areas are interdependent. If one is missing, then the same field may be used to fill two or more other areas. Adobe publishes a mapping or logical flow for the transfer of the metadata fields when importing? Yes, I understand that Microsoft broke all the standards known in this area, but I was using the "Windows Explorer" program for 20 years to fill the metadata fields in my image files. I'm now import a lifetime of photos in Lightroom for better management.

There are two separable issues: how Lightroom reads fields of metadata from photos, and how Windows Explorer writes of metadata fields.  Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a single document that authoritative describing each question.  The industry has made a mess inherited metadata, and very few programs trying to do quality work.

Lightroom has done a reasonable job to follow the industry standard, published by the metadata working group.  This standard unifies the three main mechanisms in which the metadata is stored in JPEG files and other file formats: EXIF, IPTC and XMP.    Many fields have defined slots in each of these three mechanisms.  For example, the capture time can be stored in EXIF:DateTimeOriginal, IPTC:DateCreated and IPTC:TimeCreated and XMP:DateCreated.  The MWG standard specifies how applications should read and write these multiple fields.

For a couple of the most commonly used fields, LR uses its own names: "caption" (for EXIF:ImageDescription, IPTC:Caption - Abstract, XMP:Description); "capture date" (see above); "title" (IPTC:ObjectName, XMP:Title).  But for the rest of the fields, LR usually uses the same name as that defined in EXIF or IPTC - standards are the names displayed in the presets EXIF and IPTC in the Panel metadata, in the right column of the library.

There is a dark corner where LR has made a mess: capture photos missing time (scans or digital photos very old).  Some parts of the LR will use the last modified time of the file, others the time to create the file (as defined by the Windows or Mac operating systems).  This gives very confused, inconsistent results that is easily corrected using the metadata > command change the Capture time.

About Windows File Explorer, as Windows 7, Microsoft has done a better job than average according to the standards of the industry (a little better), it's a pretty low bar, especially considering that there are many standards to choose but file Explorer has a lot of quirks.  It's been a while since I looked at File Explorer in depth, but I remember that he (like virtually all other applications, including LR) uses names for fields that do not necessarily closely match the names assigned by the standards.  For example, "Title" of the file Explorer Gets the mapping to EXIF:ImageDescription, EXIF:Title, EXIF:Description and IPTC:Caption - abstract.

    * * *

If you really want to get your 20-years-worth of photos loaded properly in LR (and I think you do), then your best best is to download the free "exiftool" and learn how to use it.  This is the tool the more authority without exception to examine and manipulate metadata.  To see where fields, I use this command line:

    ExifTool - a g fichier.jpg

I think that there are versions of Exiftool GUI, but in the past, they don't have to deal with the basic tool, and after a while, I found that they just in the way.

Then with a little trial and error, you can see exactly where the fields that you have stored with the file Explorer and if LR is read correctly.

  • How to select metadata fields to display in the list of the metadata Panel?

Is the any way to select the metadata fields that are displayed in the list in the metadata pane to the right in the library module and the card module?

You can use The Preset editor of metadata-Viewer plugin to set up your own Viewer presets.  If you are technical interested, you can download the free Lightroom SDK and configure new presets manually using a text editor - it is quite well researched but tedious.

  • Get the value based on the column names for the custom of the Webcenter content metadata field

University Complutense of MADRID, I created a custom text metadata field.  I then activated optlist this area.  I fill the optList values, I use a view.  The view has three columns.  Let us call their ID, Key, Value.  OptList shows keys in its list.  I then create content (Content ID: MyContent) Webcenter content and choose the OptList values for my new field of metadata (MyField).

WebCenter portal, I'm filling a selectOneChoice with MyField values in the content ID: MyContent.  Remember the previous step, the values entered in selectOneChoice lists them selected values from the field MyField optList.  The optList is filled from view.  After the user selects a value in selectOneChoice, in Javascript, I need to alert a message in this format "selected value - matching value from the view of the optList that fills MyField.

In my opinion, only an example will be useful:

This is a view that I created in Configuration Manager applet in Webcenter content Admin cmdlets :

    ID | State | Capital

    1. North Carolina | Raleigh

    2. California | Sacramento

    3. Illinois | Chicago

Then I create a custom field (name: MyField).  MyField is an optList values are filled with view created above.  Internal value and the display value are the two State.  Then I have a new content with Content Id Check-In: MyContent.  To MyContent, I select these values in OptList MyField: {North Carolina, Illinois}.

In my portal Webcenter application, I create a Taskflow presenter content.  I have set up as single content item presenter.  I attribute as content ID MyContent.  Then, in templateView, I get all the values of MyField in MyContent and display as selectOneChoice.  I created a javascript function that would get the value that the user selected in selectOneChoice.  In the view created in the Webcenter content Configuration Manager (see above), there is a value corresponding to each displayed value.  So, for the selected value, I need to get the corresponding Capital and display in my alert message.

Starting from Javascript, how can I get the value of the Capital, since I have the status value.

    Hello.

The idea to reach your requirement is planned:

    • Create an Assistant manage bean that will appeal as access map: #{stateUtil ['Calofironia']} (it will return Raleigh). This value will get calling GET_SCHEMA_VIEW_VALUES IDC service using RIDC in your managed bean.
    • Pass the result of #{stateUtil ["statename"]} to your JavaScript function to help

I hope this information help you.

  • Required custom metadata field with the date current system as default.

I want to create a custom type metadata field Date. I want to make mandatory and set its default value as date system.

I have already created the field of type Date. What expression should I write do the date system as default?

Because it is a required field, what will happen to existing content. Is there metadata get updated?

    Thank you
    Sanjeev

Change metadata Information fields and set the default value <$dateCurrent()$>.
If you want to update the metadata for exisitng documents, you can use archiver to export all the elements and then perform an import. But, before you do the import set up import mappings
    (1) update existing items have the same date, use the value cards (tab cards Import)
    (2) use of field maps to update with arrival,

  • Development of custom components. Add new metadata fields.

    Hello!

I develop the custom component to the UCM 11 g and in this installment, I want to add new metadata fields, which need to be indexed, automatically filtered, etc.. As the fields of Information, which the user can add through Administration-> Admin Applets-> fields of Information...
How can I do this? If I need to use an interface, what interface it must? If in this interface, should I create or update a database, including the name of this database? How can I specify all of the properties needed for this field, if I add her in a database, in my code?

Thank you for your kind thought about my question!

It is probably best to simply call the services that get (s) triggered when adding a field of metadata of your code.
This also ensures that no matter what other stuff related to the addition of a metadata field fires.

Edit: The reference Guide of Services OTN of UCM 11 g (or 10g) may be the best place to start to see which service (s) you need. Otherwise, trace 'services' to see what services receive calls when you use the cmdlets.

  • How to create a custom metadata fields?

In the library module, to the left of the label of "Metadata" next to the winding open, is a drop down menu which starts with "Default" and then has a list with ensembles such as 'DNG', 'EXIF', etc..

    Two questions or requests:

    (1) I can see ALLLLLLLL of metadata.  Right now I am out to ExifTool and suck the data I need and hand build that.  Necessary special last night, I needed the rotation of the camera that is in the metadata (twice), but I do not know how to see the inside of Lightroom.

    (2) I want to be able to add to the list I described with my own set of metadata fields.  For me, that would be lovely.  There are tons and tons of fields but I am interested by only a few, but I'm sure that each person is interested in a different game.  It would be nice to be able to customize the fields that are displayed.  Of course, once you go too far, you can also add the ability to appoint the sets and save them for later use.

Or the other of these elements is possible in Lightroom 4?  (or 5?)  If so, can you teach me how?

    Thank you

    Perry

ExifMeta to all exif metadata support.

DevMeta for all parameters of development in the form of metadata.

TextMeta for the path of file metadata...

CustomMetadata set, well, the custom metadata.

Look at a Preset editor Jeffrey Friedl of metadata to define custom metadata look a presets.

John Ellis' AnyFilter you can do research of chip-type of non-text metadata (which is stored as a metadata text, for example all the metadata plugin).

Internet research to find these plugins.

  • Define a label based on a metadata field

    Hi friends

Would like to know if this can be automated via a JavaScript.

When I m in a folder with a lot of pictures, I use green label to select the photos I want to print.

BUT if I feel that I must correct whatever it is in a selected photo, then I use the Blue label for this instead.

So I know if a photo has the green label so I can print directly. But if a photo has the Blue label so I know I need to make adjustments in Photoshop.

    ---

    Now the question:

For photos of the Blue label, I use to write instructions directelly in the metadata field named 'Instructions' (it s in the IPTC Core metadata section). And I´d as a script to automate it. Example:

If I write something in the 'Instructions' field... then automatically apply (or change to) the Blue label!

Now if... after... I remove the message on this area... then check if the photo has keywords

If have... apply the green label.

If do not have... Apply no. LABEL.

    ---

Is it possible to automate via the script?

If Yes... then I´ll try to write it

    Thanks for the tips.

    Gustavo.

    var BlueLabel = 'Review';
    var GreenLabel = 'Approved'

  • Special characters in the Caption/Abstract metadata field

    Hi people,

in Germany, I was very pleased to find that most of the fields of metadata in Lightroom 3 supports special characters like accents and the so-called sharp S today. However, this applies only in the parts to the Caption/Abstract field. Then these special characters display correctly in Lightroom itself and are even written in the correct way DNG file (display correctly in Bridge and the Finder on Mac), they get lost when exported to JPEG (or other formats such as psd and tiff). Interestingly, most other areas (such as title/title and copyright, the same keywords) have not the same question. That's why I started wondering if there is a hidden setting somewhere that allows me to solve this problem, or if it is an acceptable workaround.

I am aware of the fact that most of you guys, who work professionally with Lightroom, don't not use special characters in metadata fields at all. However, since I will not send my photos to any photo agency but to publish on my (or my client) web galleries I really want theses characters display correctly. After all, there is a huge difference between the German words 'Mass' and 'mass '. So please, don't tell me I shouldn't use umlauts in my metadata - I already know, but cannot help him.

So far, I exported the photos in JPEG format and subsequently fixed the captions (in iPhoto, for example if the image was to be published on MobileMe Gallery). As I'm getting busier all the time, this procedure, however, is a bit outdated. Now, my question is: does anyone of you have an idea how can I challenge this special-character-loss-upon-export-problem or have a solution for this?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

    f.

Here's what I think is happening: called "Caption" in the metadata Panel in Lightroom is stored by the save metadata command in a file in two different metadata fields in the picture:

    IPTC:caption - summary

    XMP:description

Two of them are supported encoding of Unicode characters.  When you export to JPEG, LR also stores the legend in a third field of metadata:

    EXIF:ImageDescription

This field is not Unicode characters support - allows only 7-bit ASCII characters.  LR cards silently non-ASCII to ASCII characters when it stores the legend here.

Many tools such as LR, bridge and Finder doesn't always clear as three metadata fields they you are showing.  Tools should always show XMP:Description rather than EXIF:ImageDescription, but they aren't always.

I recommend getting the free Exiftool or ExiftoolGUI, which will show you with authority the content of all the different metadata fields.
