• JPEG differences according to the Web site?

  

  I had a problem with my JPEGs after I export them from Lightroom and download them on the Internet and I was hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this issue for me.  In short, I noticed that some sites Web seems to be show my pictures brighter than others.  The above is a side-by-side comparison: the exact same JPEG file was transferred to OutdoorPhotographer.com (left) and Flickr (right).  I find myself scratching my head because I do not understand why OutdoorPhotographer.com shows a brighter than Flickr picture... even if both have been downloaded from a single source file.  The Flickr version looks almost identical to what I exported from Lightroom... While the version of OutdoorPhotographer has opened the shadows too and it almost looks like I've wrapped up to + 10 fill light slider.  It really hurts the overall quality of the shot.

  Can someone help me with this one?  I also noticed that when I upload photos on my site on Zenfolio, the same thing happens with them as with OutdoorPhotographer.com... she displayed somewhere between/3-1 and 1/2-stop brighter than the original.

  When I started to notice this, thinking that color profiles were to blame immediately came to mind.  But, since Flickr portrayed them correctly and OutdoorPhotographer and Zenfolio are not, am I to understand that different websites actually make photos using different color profiles?

  If it helps, I used the same browser (Mozilla Firefox) to take these two screenshots.

  I can't really find all of the information on the Web of OutdoorPhotographer site that explains their procedure to manage the metadata for the photo, but I guess the fact that color profile data went on their version practically answers that question.  What kind of trouble my spirit is hundreds (or even thousands) of people have uploaded photos on this site... I can't believe that everyone has this problem, or they are all offset by reducing their exposure in PP.

  Yes OP strips all the metadata of your photo, including the color profile that is quite outrageous for a site oriented photography. They also assume overbroad copyright on your images if download you it, but that's for another discussion. Everyone has this problem, but almost no notice because they are not simply using color managed browsers and do not calibrate their poster in any case for the image will appear identical to them as not calibrated screens are supposed to be pure sRGB in windows (which represents the majority of the users of OP I guess). You will only notice this if you profile your screen, use an managed color such as FIrefox or Safari browser. This does not mean that there is no way to control what others see, but it is a general problem on the web. You make the right choice when you profile your own screen and download sRGB color space. Do not trust what you see in browsers unmanaged or on Web sites that strip profiles of school boards. Also, don't try to correct for it. You make it worse for others. Most of the people will see something close to what you see, but individual variations can be large. Profiling yourself made sure the average of what you see is a minor. The differences you describe here are indeed very minor on the scale of variation there. Unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. It's the wild west out there in that regard. You must only give little control.

• I didn't care that "connection is not sure" I want to go on the Web site
