• CF8 Enterprise and MS SQL Server

  I need to transfer a CF8 Enterprise application off the coast of a MS Access database to a MS SQL Server existing database/environment (I guess I'm technically Piggy-Back my database in an 'existing' instance). I created my database of SQL Server, responsible for access to the elders of the base and is now looking to connect to CF administrator.
  I get the "java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia] [SQLServer JDBC Driver] [SQLServer] Login failed for user (null)". Reason: not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. "error. I've filled in the id and password, which causes this error. I checked, and the properties of the server (using SQL Server Enterprise Manager) and the validiated defined for authentication (SQL Server and Windows) mixed mode, but don't can't get further.
  Any ideas?

  I was able to verify that SQL Server has been using authentication in mixed mode (both Windows and SQL Server), and that TCP/IP is enabled and using port 1433.
  I had to create an ID local within SQL Server and then used this combination ID / password in the configuration of the data source in the CF administrator And then Bingo, that worked.
  Thanks for all you suggestions and patience. Oh, and I also bought a book from SQL Server 2000 to help me get through the code changes required between MS Access and MS SQL Server.

• Converted Suse Enterprise Server question

  Hi guys,.

  I converted a Suse Enterprise Server (physical) to a virtual machine on ESXi 5.5, everything is fine except for the desktop environment does not not and not being not able to install the tools from the virtual machine.

  When I run startx, I get the error attached.

  Any ideas on how to solve it?

• CF8 multi-server IIS6-Jrun broken Images

  Hi all
  
  We had a problem with the CF8 Enterprise Edition MultiServer installation. I would appreciate any idea in there.
  
  Server details:
  Web servers
  IIS 6.0 on Windows 2003 Server
  Use the JRun connector to communicate with the servers of CF (.cfm .cfml .cfc .cfr mapped to jrun_iis6.dll)
  
  CF 8 Server:
  CF8.0.1 Enterprise edition; on windows 2003 server; 1 cluster of 2 instances; run the default proxy service ports (51000, 51002 and so on).
  
  We want to use the reverse proxy for each file type for specific virtual directories on the Web server. It is .jpg, .gif, .css and .js files.
  
  Problem:
  The specific file formats of coldfusion are transferred by proxy to CF servers without problem (as an IIS mapping exists for each of them). However, for static file formats it does not (images broken, missing files .css etc..)
  
  We observed that:
  (a) if there is no extension of web server mapping, IIS 6.0 sends a message to the images on the page 404
  (b) if there is an extension mapping to the same jrun_iis6.dll on the web server, we get an error 503 from the server in CF (indicating no mapping on the CF server)
  (c) if in addition to (b), we introduce the url scheme mapping in the web.xml file and associate it with CfmServlet, we start to get the image content in a stream of data (= 200 server response) but with the incorrect content type (it crosses in text/html). The images appear always broken, because the content-type is incorrect.
  
  At this point, we are at a loss of what we miss them.
  
  Someone at - it meet this problem before... pointers will be greatly appreciated!

  Very close. You must map the extensions to the FileServlet, not the
  CfmServlet. Then restart CF and you're in business. You can even remove
  the mappings in IIS, the mappings in the web.xml file outrepasseront them anyway.

• By comparing the CF7 and CF8 standard

  I have 7.02MX of Coldfusion Standard edition on my server and saw the new Coldfusion 8 Server. But when I looked in the new patterns of comparison I thought they had changed something for the licensing model (standard vs enterprise). I don't know if it's just marketing text that has been modified or if the feature has really changed between the CF7 Enterprise vs Standard CF7 and CF8 Standard CF8 Enterprise vs.
  
  I mean, it seemed that CF8 Standard is intended for a single site and that it is not possible to have several Web sites hosted with this edition. Is this true?
  
  I am running Coldfusion MX Standard 7 for the last two years and have had several sites/applications that run in this (blogs, corporate websites, custom build other applications). Had the feeling that they said in the texts now that I should have taken I'll be able to run more than one application/website...
  So I now wonder if I can still move to CF8 standard or if I have to buy an Enterprise edition instead.
  
  Anyone who can help me with this comparison? (and I know there are difference in functionality, but I don't know who exactly).

  What are the * try * to sell you, who is company (any MX
  version) may have several _ColdFusion_ running web applications. In
  in other words, you can configure several instance of the ColdFusion

• CF8 ODBC Server Service missing files

  Upgraded from CF7 to CF8 Enterprise Windows Enterprise. After installation, "ColdFusion 8 ODBC Agent" and "ColdFusion 8 ODBC Server" services are not started. Tried to launch them manually and the directory where the service point to (D:\ColdFusion8\db\slserver54\bin\...) is missing.
  Of course, when you go to the administrator and add a new data source, I get a message that the ODBC ColdFusion Server service is not running or has not been installed.
  How can I install it? I uninstalled CF8 and reinstalled it trying to install 3 times.
  The server is Windows2003 Standard Edition. IIS.

  The technical note to manually install services ODBC on CF 8.0 released. It includes zip files containing the necessary installation files, a datasource.cfc and update scripts to update for install and uninstall services.

  If you try to follow the CF8 link, then select trial, that you find yourself CF10 download area. Seems to me a waste of time suggesting experiments CF8 because of its EOL status and is not available for download?

  Everything started to venture into adobe forms and started working on a few projects. But the rumor is that adobe forms are approaching the end of life and that there will be any form adobe supports after 2015. Statement kind of weird, but I would like to know if it's true. I need to know this, because I need to meet my clients as well.

• Continued support for Acrobat 8?

  I asked this question to Adobe, but don't really have a clear answer so I thought I'd post here as well.

  We are in the process of upgrading to Acrobat X Pro within our company. However, we have a number of users who are currently on version 8 which do not need to be upgraded because they will need only the software temporarily (several months for maybe a year or two). However, we always want to ensure that they conform to the requirements of internal security, etc. during this interim period. So my question is... does anyone know (time patches and security about how) updates will be available for version 8? In other words, I'm just trying to determine how long the V8 will continue to be repaired or updated to determine if I need to buy a bunch of licenses extra version X that we need for only a few months.

  I know that it is a bit of a trick question, no indication on that would be appreciated.

  I just updated one of our CF 8.0.1 facilities with the most recent security patch and it broke CFIDE instantly. When you look at the stack trace there is ongoing suspicious things. Please take a look at in bold print in the trace below...

  1. why he tries to run CFIDE to c:/work? My installation is not yet on the C: drive

  2. why the devil is 'ColdFusioon' referenced. Its obviously a type o. Not to mention that the patch for CFIDE is once more quite wrong?

  I thought I'd come on the forums and see people everywhere in this topic.

  Being that I did not find related positions be it im just wondering if this a personal problem and perhaps im overlooking something. the update is if trivial im see how I could have forgotten anything.

  I wonder if there may still be some potential confusion however.

  Are first of all, to be clear, since you say that you run 8.0.1, you sure that you have downloaded the zip 8.01 (of http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/857/cpsid_85766.html)? It has zips for 9.0, 9.01, 8.0 and 8.01, it seems important to be sure to use the right one.

  Second, equally important, are you positive that you run 8.0.1? I saw a lot of people discover that they are not running the version that they think they are. The good news is that it is reported in the CF Admin, and since you say you can get things to work, go ahead and launch the Admin CF (which was not and now works) to ensure that adjustment or Information System summary pages really don't show in market 8.0.1. In this case, please do not trust of assumptions you may have.

  Thirdly, this administration now, working on that going through IIS? In other words, is there a port on the URL, for example the 8500 or 8300? If Yes, while you are using the built-in web server and IIS, and therefore you would NOT usually use the CFIDE, which is in the inetpub\wwwroot but rather in the wwwroot where CF is installed (for example c:\coldfusion8\wwwroot for CF8 Standard or Enterprise Server or C:\JRun4\servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\CFIDE mode for the cfusion in CF8 Enterprise multiserver instance). In this case, you may have applied the patch to the wrong place, which could explain a problem.

  But then the fact that you say restore you the old files and all of a sudden it works makes look that's not the issue.

  Yet, as we continue explored the possibilities, you say 'this has happened both of our cf development servers 8 One is multiserver while the other is CF8 Standard... The instance to try to apply it to the GI would indeed "cfusion" in both cases. »

  To be clear, there is no instance of cfusion in the Standard (or Enterprise Server) deployment, in multi-server deployment. A server running CF 8 Standard (or Enterprise Server mode) would rather a directory c:\coldfusion8 (on Windows, you're running) with no cfusion directory it contains (it has a \servers\coldfusion, technically). Given that this correction will in the CFIDE, is not quite as big a deal.

  But the biggest problem is that we could update the CFIDE in inetpub\wwwroot but saw their URL of Admin SEE loading from (and the code search in) inside CF instance instead. This is the confusion that happens all the time, as a result of the flexibility of the CF (whether or not to use the built-in web server) and the fact that most of the people don't just simply spend their days to dive into this level of detail.

  I note also that since you said that you use this site by your CFIDE inetpub\wwwroot, (there's nothing of technically wrong with it, too long as you really use IIS to open your CF Admin), this means also you could point on the technical side of a website (all or part, or a virtual directory in IIS) to use the CFIDE directory While can say this web site in order to pass any CFM file that it finds in any particular CF search engine you have installed.

  Again, I'm grabbing at straws for you, but I could see how you could technically get an error if you tried to run the code in this fix to one version against another person (because they offer different versions). Looking at the CF Admin (assuming that you are running the CF Admin) to confirm the version (and the location of the CFIDE mapping indicated that she) should help.

• Unable to create the new CF example of an EAR... why?

  Im trying to build a new instance of CF from an EAR file to in the Instance CF8 Enterprise Manager.

  For some reason, the instance Manager does not recognize the location of the file EAR no matter where I place.

  I have even gone as far as temporarily enable RDS to the instance Manager, navigate to the file and fill in the text box to the location.

  Unfortunately I don't no matter eque I get ythe following error...

  Create an instance without an EAR, stop it, remove the default EAR, place your own EAR, at the beginning of the instance.
