Change a public location to a private location

I have somehow created a "schooner" network which is public.  I'm unable to set up this private network.  I will network sharing Center and click on the private, and it gives me a box of network defined properties, but does not allow me to change from public to private.  Net work "schooner" is a wireless network, and it does not appear when I click on merge or delete.  How can I fix this?

One possible solution to this problem that I found via Google is to make sure that you have a default gateway configured in the properties of your network card network. Go inStart > run and type cmd /k ipconfig and see if a default gateway is set. Otherwise, go to the properties of LAN adpater and temporairly configure a gateway, the mask and default static IP address. The default gateway address must be the address of the router.

Once Windows 7 identifies your network, you should be able to enter and change the network type.

  • How can I change my public network location at in Win7?

On my server I am running Win 7 Pro 64 - bit (SP1) with an Ethernet cable to my router.

I have several other network devices in my network, including wired and wireless, Win 7 PCs, PC Win XP and other facilities such as the backup network and media center.  I have problems with devices see each other (in particular my server) and the sharing of resources (files and printing).

On my server, I am able to connect to the internet via my wired connection.  However, in the "network and sharing Center" under active networks I see "You are currently not connected to all the networks."  The link "Connect to a network" shows that I have no networks to connect to.   When I try to connect to my home group or create a homegroup, I said "To create or join a homegroup, network location of your computer must be on home."  Mine is set to public and I can't change it to make this change requires me to click on the home/work/Public icon/link in my active network and I don't have any network active (or inactive).  There is therefore no link to allow me to access the dialog box 'change the network location '.

I tried (no problem found) network outages and homegroup troubleshooting (no problem found).

I did do a Win 7 repair facility to solve configuration problems: I cannot access any network.  However, my original drive is an OEM Windows 7 Pro 64 bit without SP1.  Now that my machine was on SP1 for about a year, it does not allow me to do a repair installation, and the version on my machine is more recent (PLU) of what is on the installation disc.  Also, I considered uninstalling SP1, but which also failed.  An error message about missing files. I even tried uninstalling SP1 command-line and which also failed.

What can I do to solve this problem before a thorough cleaning of your disc drive and a clean installation?

    UPDATED: February 13, 2015 - finally fixed!

The post on January 28, 2015 by BennyPootron led me to the solution.

In RegEdit, to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles", I deleted all the profiles under the present (I had three).

In addition, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Signatures\Unmanaged" were three matching items which I also deleted.  This clean slate, so to speak, and when I rebooted, I could change my location of home network and join my home group.

Thanks to BennyPootron for the idea that led to my solution.

I don't know if this applies to Windows 7, but it does not work in Windows 8 and Windows 10.

    (1) open 'RegEdit '.

    2) go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles".

    (3) find the location of the network

    (4) change the 'Category' DWORD to 1

If this does not work, remove the key from the network, restart your computer and repeat.  It should work after that.

Not exactly the answer, but what led to the solution.  FINALLY FIXED!   Here's how:

In RegEdit, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles" I had three profiles with names such as {4A3BFF36-4EA6-4415-AA5F-46CE449C95AB}.  I tried several things, including changing the DWORD value of the 'Category' 1 item in all three of these profiles.  It does NOT work.

However, I have finally deleted all three profiles.

In addition, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Signatures\Unmanaged" were three matching items which I also deleted.  This clean slate, so to speak.

    IT WORKED!

When I rebooted, I was able to change my network from the Public to the private, and he walked me through the process of joining an existing group established by another computer in our House.

Finally almost 3 years after my original post, I have fixed the problem.

Thanks to BennyPootron for the idea of a solution.

  • Impossible to change the network location of the public in the network and sharing Center.

I'm unable to change the network location of the public to the private sector or at home. In network and sharing Center, he is listed as unidentified network, and under "Public network" is written in black and is not clickable.

I have a connection high speed (USB connected) also listed above under "Home network", it is written in blue and is clickable.

The affected connection is an XBOX 360 connected via a network cable. I wish to connect the XBOX to the Internet via ICS, but cannot do so until this connection is either private or at home.

    Things I've tried so far;

    Reinstall the drivers,

disconnect and reconnect, turning on all the elements concerned.

    All ideas,

    Tourist shifty.

Enable ICS on the connection Strip and not on the XBOX 360 connection.  When you do this, the connection of the XBOX 360 will still be confused with a public network, but everything should work. Boulder computer Maven

  • No option to change the installation location of the program

    Hello

I have problems with my laptop running Vista Basic.

Whenever I try to install a new program, it automatically starts the installation on drive C.  There is no opportunity to change the installation location.  It must now to the point where drive C is almost full yet D drive is almost empty.

Is it possible I can get Vista to start giving me the option to choose where I would like the installation to occur or may simply change the default location?  I don't have a problem with the deletion of all programs that are running on my laptop that I have all the disks necessary to reinstall, I just can't continue as things are.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Andy

If you get a choice of the place where the software is the responsibility of the installer, no windows.  I would say it's time to start looking in an upgrade of the hard drive if you are running this short space.

  • Where are offline files stored (to be synchronized)? Can we change the default location?

    Dear
    I use Vista Ultimate.
Where are offline files stored (to be synchronized)? Can we change the default location?
    concerning
    Maurin

    Hi Maxim P,.

Sync Center is the place to go to synchronize your computer with network folders, mobile devices and compatible programs. Sync Center can keep automatically your files and folders synchronized in different places.

Open Sync Center by clicking the Start button, tap all programs, accessories, and then clicking on of Sync Center.

Sync Center is a feature of Windows that allows you to keep information synchronized between your computer and files stored in folders on network servers. They are called offline files because you can access them even when your computer or the server is not connected to the network.

  • Change the installation location of many programs?

I just got an SSD (60 GB) to use as my drive master boot and after doing some research, it became clear that changing the progamfilesdir /(x86) registry entries can cause problems with some programs and Windows update.

A lot of programs that I use allow me to change the installation location, but some do not. Is there a method to move these programs or make install in another directory?
    Thank you.

Even if you custom install on a drive to reactivate, a lot of files will be written on the disc of the victory.

  • Change the default location for saving the photos in 10 items.

How can I change the default location for saving images for the first time in 10 items? For some reason, the program is saving my work in the Temp folder, when I need the work in the library of images.

    From the Organizer, go to:

    Edit > preferences > files

Click on the Browse button and navigate to your pictures folder

  • Change automatic save location

Adobe is back with a fix for this yet? The only thing you can do is to turn auto-save on or off, but not change the default location. It makes no sense to have a car to save in the same folder as the project file.

Its always been there, but if you want it changed:

    http://www.Adobe.com/cfusion/mmForm/index.cfm?name=wishform

It is wise to also save a copy on another player, that's what I do.

I do not relay on auto save as its get crushed after so many times.

  • How can I change my creative location of download for Cloud applications?

I signed up for creative cloud and uses the Adobe Application Manager to download and install apps.  The client allows me to change the installation location, but not the download location.  I have limited space SSD for my C: drive, then it is a problem.  Is there a setting somewhere that I can change the configuration file?

Change the system variable 'temp' path, which is what I always do, in any case. Now your precious SSD is already filled with temporary files that feed on your space, if you haven't changed that already...

  • JMS transport - weblogic changes < SOAP: address location = "jms:... for http"

    Hello
Please help me to configure the web service to use only jms transport.
I try to create the web service that uses JMS transport.
I started from WSDL where I placed two items:
    < style: = 'document soap binding '.
    transport = "http://www.openuri.org/2002/04/soap/jms" / >

    and

    < soap: address location = "jms://host:7041/contextPathName/serviceUriName? URI = queueName"/ >

Then in the implementation of the service web, I placed after the annotation:
@WLJmsTransport (= "contextPathName" contextPath, serviceUri = "serviceUriName", portName = "portName", queue = "queueName", connectionFactory = "connectionFactoryName")

Deployment was successful but when I look at the generated WSDL (Admin console) I see that weblogic has changed < soap: address location = "jms:... for < soap: address location ="http... "
And when I look at the tracking I see port uses JMS transport.
When I try to test my service using the client to Test the Admin console I see that the queue is not used (Admin console/monitoring/Messages total is always 0) and (I assume) service uses http transport.

    Hello
    Please change "http://www.openuri.org/2002/04/soap/jms" to http://www.openuri.org/2002/04/soap/jms/ for soap1.1 or http://www.openuri.org/2002/04/soap12/jms/ for SOAP 1.2.

There must be an incompatibility between code and implementation.

  • How can I change a Public home network in Windows 7 Hompe Prermium

My question is this. I have the E4200 of Cisco router that I add to my network. I configured the router and can access via the wireless. However, if I connect the computer to the Ethernet port it shows as a connection to the local network, but it is listed as unknown network and his game to the public. This prevents me from access routers layout on the cable network. How can I change this public network at home so I can access it?

    Hi Ldroamer,

  • Change the public Interface on Clusterware

    Hello

I have a node RAC 4 10.2.0.3 under RedHat Linux AS 3. Recently I noticed that eth0 on one of the departures nodes up and down for short periods of time. If this happens long enough it affects connections established for her etc.

I'm afraid that the network card is about to fail, because this material is old enough. The machine has 2 other NICs unused on it and I want to change the public interface the clusterware uses one of these ex eth2.

I know how to do, is using oifcfg, but my question is. If I change the interface on node 4 ex $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/oifcfg setif-eth2/192.168.1.0:public overall, this would amount to this public interface uses eth2 to node 4 or 3 elsewhere. Just to be clear, I would like to than the other 3 nodes to always use their interface public current IE eth0.

    Thanks in advance.

You must have the same interface name on all nodes to the public. You could ensure that the other card on the 4 node becomes eth0.
