change file type

I posted a question about to change the file format of an audio file I want to download on podben.com and enjoy the responses I received. I checked what podbean accepts for their download. they are: .mp3, .mp4, wmv, PDF, jpg and gif image format are the last two I think and does not apply my files are saved in the file windows media audio and they play with windows media player. so my question again you can help me to change my current file format so that I can download to podbean. Thank you very much for the help.

Generally, you need a program that can convert the file to a .mp3 .wma. There are several free programs if you look around with Google; Here is one of the first few results, that looks pretty decent: WMA to mp3.

Best luck!

(In addition, it is best to try to keep all of your responses confined to a single thread of questions and answers. In this way, people can see what you have tried before and people who have already helped will be able to find it more easily.)

I have Win 7 and unable to convert a file from m4a to m4r. Whenever I do this the file name gets extended example:

whitechristmas. M4A is the name of the original file, and I am wanting to convert it to whitechristmas.m4r.  However, when you try to change the type of file it changes the name to whitechristmas.m4r.m4a.  It also has a problem when I try to convert a .txt to. doc.  It turns into. doc.txt

Is there a work around what I can do.  There is one if you are working with sharepoint files, or a server, but because it is just a file on my hard drive I'm lost and aggravated.

    Thanks in advance!

The default value is only to change the name and not the extension. You can replace it by moving your cursor with the mouse, end, home or arrow keys and by changing the file type.

Windows notifies you of any adverse effects if you change the extension, but you can ignore the warning if you know what you're doing.

I don't think that you can in PVS,

Right click on the file and Point at the opening

    Click on the painting,

Click the blue file at the top left,

    Click Save as,

Click on the list of jpeg.

    Repeat steps.

  • Need help with the advanced file Type changes

Somehow all my folders of changed files option.  Instead of the folder when you click it, it opens the search.

I know where and what to change, just do not know how.  Under Tools > folder options > file types, I select "files" and click "Advanced".  Of course, it says 'find '.  I click on 'new' under 'action', I type 'open', but what should I put under "Application used to perform action:"?  It won't let me not leave the field empty.  When I looked to see how it was done in 'file', 'edit' is gray.  I tried to look on other computers, but everyone has Vista, Vista doesn't even have a tab "file type" under folder options and I couldn't find it anywhere else.

Even if you don't know the answer, if you could look to see what it says on your computer and let me know.  Like I said could not find on Vista, I am running XP.

Yes, I know that I can do a right click on the folder and open it, and that's what I do.  It really happened to be a pain in the you-know-what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I need to change a file type of processing to PDF, doc, html txtor. the site that I am trying to download a file he needs in one of these formats

I need to change a file type of processing to doc, pdf, txt or html. the site that I am trying to download a file needs in one of these formats. THX

A complete answer would require that we know what "word processing" you use.  However, one of the types of files that are acceptable as 'pdf', you can install 3rd party freeware "CutePDF Writer" on your computer:

    CutePDF: <> http://www.cutepdf.com/products/cutepdf/writer.asp >

Note that you need to install CutePDF and Ghostscript (both on the site) on your machine.  After you do, you will find that you have another printer on your computer named "CutePDF Writer".  Print the file of word processing for this virtual printer.  When you do so, it ask for a place to store your PDF file.  Give it a name and location, and it will create a PDF file for you.   Excellent Freeware (among my top 10) and works with any application you can print from.  Especially good for saving recipes online so that you don't waste any ink/paper.

  • [Solved] When you change the file type for RAR files, it also changes the file type of the ISO XP files

I tried to change the file type description, as well as in default and the icon for the rar and iso programs file types inmenu\ tools\folder options\file typest\advanced, but to change the settings on a file type automatically changes settings on the other.

How can I do this via regedit?  What can cause a bug?

    Hello

    1. How are you sure that you change the individual file extension and not the entire folder?
    2. how exactly you try this?

To change a name of file, all you have to do is right click on the file, and then click Rename, instead of the path you describe in the thread.

  • Behavior of the ADV change corrupt Excel File Types?

I entered a strange state Excel.  I don't know how. ERGO, I don't know how to reverse the trend.

All of a sudden, when I click on a file icon to open an Excel file with macros, I am invited twice to activate the macros (medium security).

Specifically, if I start Excel (new book), add a dummy macro (Sub doit() / End Sub), and save Book1.xls, when I then click Book1.xls, I get two guests enable macro.

I suspect that this began after I was experimenting with different Types of files advanced under Tools > Options for files in a folder.  I did not notice the problem then because I couldn't have clicked on a file icon for the Excel file with macros.

Note: I think that the root cause, twice, opening the Excel file may exist even for files Excel without macros.  It simply may not be obvious without the enable macro prompt.

Also note: I don't get the enable macro double guests when I open the file in Excel, for example by clicking on the name of the file in the list of recently opened files in Excel.

Unfortunately, I do not know what that file type Advanced had my experiences.  Currently for XLS, they are:

    New:
    Action: ' "C:\...\EXCEL."» "EXE" / e/n %1
    The DDE message: [new ("%1")]

    Open:
    Action: ' "C\...\EXCEL."» EXE' / e '%1 '.
    The DDE message: [open ("%1")]

It would not surprise me if the reference for %1 in the action line is redundant and root cause of the problem.  It does not appear in the line of action on another PC.  (Old Excel 2003 puts up-to-date and perhaps more older MSWin XP SP3 updates to date.)

But if I try to delete the reference %1, XP (?) restored automatically, but without the quotes in the line of action "open".

In other words, if I change the %1 and reference '%1', click OK, and then click on Edit again, %1 (without the quotes) reappears at the end of the two lines of action 'new' and 'open '.  The same is true if I close the file Options window, then re-open it.

If I remove the double quotes in the "open" action line, I do not receive guests enable double-macro.  However, I get several errors when I click on the icon of the Book1.xls file in a Temp folder, namely:

    C:\Documents.xls is not found
    and.xls is not found
    Settings\Joe\My.xls is not found
    Documents\Temp\Book1.xls could not be found.

Despite these errors, the Excel file is opened correctly.

Note that the full path is "C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\My Documents\Temp\Book1.xls".

This brings me to two tentative conclusions:

    1. the double quotes around the %1 in the line of action are needed for a path with interstitial spaces can be interpreted correctly.

    2. the file is indeed open twice, once for %1 in the line of action and again for %1 in the DDE message.

On this basis, the prompt enable double-macro is not surprising when %1 is replaced with '%1' in the line of action.

I can work around the double-open by editing the DDE message for the 'open' action, leaving '%1' at the end of the line of action.

But that changes the behavior to open two Excel files by clicking on their icons in file, namely: each file is opened in a separate instance of Excel instead of the same instance.  Ironically, it is the alternative behavior that I was experimenting with some days; and it might even be the behavior that I prefer.  I'm mulling over always pros and cons.  (Which I am fully aware of and need any help understanding.)

But the point is: it wasn't always the case.

So the question is: how to make (less intrusive) to restore Excel to its previous behavior, only enable macro prompt and probably open the file only once and when I click on file icon in a folder by opening multiple files within the same instance of Excel?

I certainly want to avoid to uninstall and then reinstall Excel.  I also want to avoid going back to a recent restore Point, since I'm not sure what desirable changes, I could have done in the meantime.  I am not opposed to editing the registry, if someone can tell me exactly what change to make.

(Change my macro security to avoid any incentive is also not a viable alternative.)

No doubt, this could be a matter of Excel, is not a matter of XP.  I'll post a similar question to Excel answers appropriate Forum.  I don't like the multi-post; but I don't know how crosspost, which is even supported by the Forum of answers.  However, I wonder if a XP-savvy person could recognize and solve the problem more quickly than a generalist to Excel.

I use Office Excel 2003 SP3, Excel 11.8169.8172 version, and MSWin XP Pro SP3 update 29/03/2009.

I know I'm behind in updates.  But all I ask is to restore the system (XP or Excel) to a State that worked fine before.  'Before' what I can not say with certainty; but certainly some time in the last week or two, during which I did no major changes to the system other than experimenting with File Types.

I _-u-me that XP or Excel update is not necessary, unless someone can point to a specific patch since the 29/03/2009, which solve my specific problem.

Tushar Mehta wrote in the Excel forum:

Maybe you can try - and I don't know if it will or won't work - Excel Help | Detect and repair... ability.

While I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart and not without a lot of precautions, he does not seem to have done the trick.

Advanced File Types have now been restored to what I expected, namely: Open action is now "C:\...\EXCEL. EXE/e"- no argument %1 - and the DDE message is [open("%1")].  By clicking on two ".xls" file icons results in both open in the same instance of Excel, the behavior of original product.

The procedure is a bit irritating because, first of all, click on detect and repair in Excel Help resulted in warning to close all Office applications, including Excel.  Because I didn't know no other way to invoke the detect and repair command, I clicked on the option Ignore, which I was grateful for.

Secondly, this operation has warned the Office installation CDROM may be needed, and indeed, it was necessary to complete the configuration of Office 2003.  That's troubling for me because I had never used the CDROM (Dell preinstalled the software), and I've had trouble finding even it since I had never unpacked boxes after a large home remodeling 3 (!) years.  (By wife hunted me for a year before she gives up on me.)

Without the CDROM to installation, I couldn't run Excel; He has always tried to complete the configuration of office.  And in fact, it was something on the CDROM which corrects the shares of Advanced File Types.

Now, I have to learn that rest to detect and repair could cancel.  I used the product for 5 years.  I have really no idea what settings I could have done for this period of time

    But it worked!

The files have already been burned on a DVD and therefore cannot be converted. However, you can download and install third-party codecs to play .m2ts files.
