Change of name ESXi in vClient

Hello! I have little doubt about the introduction of ESXi in VMware Vclient.

Where ESXi was added by IP ESXi it will be shown in vClient by it's ip address. Is it possible to change this visualization of the ip address for the host name or to a different friendly name?

Change the entries in VPX_Hosts table by using SQL Enterprise manager in the case of MS SQL dB or use the DB SOLO tool for any database.

The cmdlet Get - Log do not create the destination folder if it does not exist, so you will need to test for this condition.

AFAIK, you don't need to connect to each ESXi individually when you are connected to the vCenter.

Since the discharge of generated log file name is rather cryptic, I rename the file normally and add a timestamp.

You could do something like that

    $clusterName = "mycluster.

    $FilePath = 'S:\Get-Logs\Logs\$($clusterName) ".

    If (!) ((Test-Path-path $FilePath)))

    {

    Novelty - ItemType Directory - Path $FilePath

    $logName = get - Log - VMHost $ESX - Bundle - DestinationPath $destPath

  • Change the name of files and folders in data warehouses

Is it safe while a virtual machine is running to change the name of the VMDK files and folders in a data store?

I discovered that a VMS VMDK files have a different name for the virtual machine itself, then someone changed the name of the virtual machine after you have created the records

I had to do it a few times, will try to document the process that I follow.  If you have many warehouses of data, then make a note of what data store, the machine is in.  The next step is to unregister the virtual machine from vCenter / ESXi

Then, you need to enable SSH on your ESXi host

Use Putty or something similar for you connect to the ESXi host

Run the following commands (in italics)

cd vmfs/volumes / that is, if the data store that contains the virtual computer is named datastore1 then you would run cd/vmfs/volumes/datastore1

Then run ls to verify that the virtual machine file is here

Rename the folder by using mv

Change to the folder with cd

Rename the nvram, vmsd, vmx and running again is to say the mv

    MV oldname.nvram newname.nvram

    MV oldname.vmsd newname.vmsd

    MV oldname.vmx newname.vmx

    MV 1234.hlog - oldname newname - 1234.hlog

Rename the vmdk with vmkfstools EI oldname.vmdk newname.vmdk

Edit the vmx with vi newname.vmx

Replace references to oldname to newname in this file

Register the virtual machine with the ESXi server and it should be OK

  • How to change the name of the device to a storage adapter?

We have a host on which we forgot to disable iSCSI on its Emulex network adapters.  FC HBAS installed with vmhba4 and vmhba3 of the iSCSI initiators because device names took vmhba2 and vmhba1 of device names.  We have disabled iSCSI and restarted, but the names of the HBAs are still 3 and 4.  I would change the vmhba1 and vmhba2 to accompany the rest of the environment.  Is it possible to manually change the name of the HBA device?

I have not tried, but someone has to and of course the good old google came with www.virten.net. It is said that it can be done with changes in the etc/vmware/esx.conf file. Let me know if this helped.

  • Change the name of the file of "Import.xls" selection in Applescript

Hi, I'm a tiger, but I try to change the name of a file in a folder (which can be any name that is) a name known.  In the end, just trying to import a file known to filemaker and need the name to be a known name.  That's what I have so far, but I have simply not success.  This goes to the folder 2 window and selects the first file... no problem, but, I can't seem to change the name of 'import.xls '.  Only excel files will be present in this folder, so I'm not worried about it.

The other thing I would do is if there is no file in this folder to jump above everything and do nothing.

    Thanks for your help!

    Tell application "Finder".

    activate

the value target of Finder window 2 to folder "Orders_to_Enter" of folder "Documents" of the file 'MINIJOHN'from folder 'Users' of startup disk

Select the first file of the window of Finder 2

    Try

the value the name of the selection of "IMPORT.xls".

    end try

    end say

    say

    Hello

No need to manipulate the selection. You can just write something like this:

set d to (path to documents folder as string) & "Orders_to_Enter:" as alias
    tell application "Finder"
        --open item d -- optional
tell (item d's file 1 whose name extension = "xls")
            try
                set name to "IMPORT.xls"
            end try
        end tell
    end tell

    Tested under OS X 10.6.8.

    Good luck

  • How can I change the name of the ion HD my Time Capsule airport

My time capsule airport has changed its name to data and now I can't use it. What can I do?

Not sure why you can't use 'Data' as the name of the disk hard Time Capsule, since it is the default value.

But, if you want to change the name of 'Data' to something else...

Open the AirPort on your Mac utility... (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)

Click on the image of the time Capsule

Click on edit in the window that appears

Click the disks at the top of the next window

Next to Partitions, you will see "Data".

Click directly on the name of 'Data' and the box will change to allow you to edit the name, just as you can change the name of any other player

In the example below, I changed the name of the drive 'safeguards '.

Click Update at the bottom right of the window to save the changes you have made

  • TB is automatically changing the name of the sender

Here's a strange. Whenever I get an alert message from Twitter to one of my email accounts, TB change the name of 'From' to 'James Smith (via Twitter)'. This includes anything sent from the address "[email protected]". I checked all my Message filters, and there is no rule, put in place to rename incoming emails from Twitter, so I'm stumped.

For the record, I doubt that this has nothing to do with Twitter. It is a question of Thunderbird.

What is in the source code headers?
    Select E-mail
Click on "More" and select "view source".

Y at - it any mention of "James Smith (via Twitter)"?

Check address books, including ' collected addresses:
