Wzcdlg.dll access WI - FI on my computer error lost laptop XP Home Edition

After updating McAfee. I signed off the computer. When I turned it back I had the Blue error screen.

I am able to connect to the internet if I am connected to my modem, but I can't connect with a wi - fi connection.

I'm getting 2 different error messages. When I try to use the network set up wizard.

DLL windows/system32/dot3api.dll is not a valid windows image

and

RunDLL error loading wzcdlg.dll %1 is not a valid windows image.

I am running XP Home Edition

What was the blue screen error (there are a lot of blue screen errors).

Do you mean that when you try to start the wireless network Setup Wizard you see a message like this:

Rundll32.exe - bad Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\dot3api.dll is not a valid Windows image.  Please check this against your installation diskette.

Then, when you click OK, you see a message like this:

RUNDLL
Error loading wzcdlg.dll
%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

The problem is that the c:\windows\system32\dot3api.dll file is somehow corrupted (it is not missing) and must be replaced.

The other file - file c:\windows\system32\wzcdlg.dll could be correct, but don't forget that he also might need to be replaced.  Start by simply replacing the dot3api.dll file.

Because the file is in the list of 3498 files who cares about Protection of files Windows it should be 'good' copies on your system in a backup folder.

You must replace the files in c:\windows\system32 with a good copy that you can find elsewhere on your system.

Your search system and to find copies of the files.

Depending on your system and how XP has been installed, you can find copies of the file here:

c:\Windows\System32\dllcache
c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

If your system has an installation folder that contains a folder i386 (perhaps on a D drive), there may be copies in the United Kingdom, or even if you have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, you could expand the files from the CD.

Your goal is to replace the suspect files in c:\windows\system32 with good copies.

When you find copies, you should start using safe, so the files are not in use, navigate to the windows\system32 folder and rename the suspicious file you remember (such as dot3api.old, etc.), so in case something goes wrong you can put the original files).

Copy the 'good' replacement of the other location on top of the old file or replace the files if they are totally absent (unlikely).

Answer Yes, if you are prompted to overwrite or replace the existing files.

Restart the system normally and test to make sure things work again and then ask whether the use of McAfee is a good idea.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

  • Oleaut32.dll seems to be on the computer but the 3rd party install can't find it

A brief history. I got the Itunes error for months. I lived with him (after failed it several attempts at correction). To do this, I'll post the following event log error. Now I am trying to install software for a video camera and it can not find the file oleaut32.dll (this time in the System32 directory). I bought and run the RegServe software to solve registry problems (which was supposed to go to fix this). Now, I'm getting several other errors in the event log (unrelated to the errors of the oleaut32.dll file) after the execution of this software. I tried to repair Itunes after the register of difficulty in case he had to just update its links. No luck. No luck on installing the camera software. I installed optional updates from Microsoft incase they might also need this dll file and therefore would set the record link. No luck. (but no installation failure).

Here is the series of errors in the log of events from when I tried to fix itunes:

I have a Dell computer that came with Windows XP Home edition.  When I start my computer the monitoring of ERROR appears: RUNDLL error loading specified not found \3\DLBUtime.dll module

I just click 'ok' and he goes, but, as for what it stop popping up everytime I start my computer.

Can someone help me with this?

    Aprilm,

You are LuLu5119, who posted a question last August?

If this isn't the case, you should have started your own thread.  If so (and even if not), you should have responded to questions about Dell printers.

Assuming that you complain of a "Error loading \3\DLBUtime.dll" message that appears when you start your computer, you should know that the DLBUtime.dll file probably has something to do with the software from Dell which has been partially deleted, but could also be indicative of malware as well as partially withdrawn.

In both cases, the best way for start you to prevent the message at windows is to download Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Install the Autoruns and let it complete the scan of your computer.  Then click on the "Connection" tab and uncheck the following entry:

Look for an entry that has 'DLBUCATS' in the first column.  If you do not see that, look for "rundll32 \3\dlbutime.dll" in the last column ("path of the Image).

Uncheck that entry, close Autoruns and restart your computer.  You should get is no longer the message.

If for any reason, you find later that you need dlbutime.dll running, run Autoruns and check the box. If you decide that you need never again, run Autoruns, right-click on the entry and select Delete.

As General precautionary measure, in case your entry dlbutime.dll was related to malicious software, rather than the Dell printing software, download the following free scanners:

    MalwareBytes Anti-Malware: http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware Portable: http://superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html

For MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, download, install, update and run.
For Portable SAS, follow the instructions on the Web page (note that the instructions assume that you use a different computer to download; if you're not, just make a note of the name of the file).
