Changing setting ESXi 5.1 Syslog

I need to change the setting syslog.global.loghost on several hosts. Is - well done via Powercli?

Thank you

Andy

Here is an overview of the screen indicating a change of account: http://k4gvo.com/images/smtp.png I don't see a way to set/change the password and an exhaustive search of the other menus, including the configuration editor has not helped. For some reason, probably because of an automatic update, he ceased to send emails. I manually installed 24 to see if that helped, but it didn't. This profile/account is probably 5 or more years so there is probably something in the profile that is the pipe upwards. I tried to add a new e-mail account so I could put the server by default to it but it won't let me. He went through all the motions, but when I look in the list of accounts, it isn't here.

I created a new user account on the system and it I would like to create a usable smtp profile without change it however.

I'd start on if I can save emails, however when I tried to copy the Mail / directories < account > to another user to test, they never came.

Setting are OK because I used the same settings on a different system and it works fine. Also, using the same user/pw I receive mail fine, just can't send.

  • Changing the settings of vmware syslog collector

Anyone aware of how to change these settings after installing syslog?

    image.jpg

The configuration file, vmconfig - syslog.xml, on Server 2008/2008R2 can be found here:

    %ProgramData%\VMware\VMware Syslog Collector

    Or here on 2003:

    %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware Syslog Collector

Edit vmconfig - syslog.xml to change the settings you want, and then restart the VMware Syslog Collector service to make them active.

I have 1000 ESXi hosts in our environment, I just want to confirm ESXi DUMP collector and collector dumpl Syslog is configured on all ESXi hosts or not.

I beg you to help me with powerCLI scrip because it will save a lot of time hell and it will also help me to avoid any human error.

    Try something like this

    Get-VMHost |

    Select Name,

    @{N = "Syslog collector"; E = {}

    $script: esxcli = Get-EsxCli - VMHost $_

    $esxcli.system.syslog.config.get () | {{Select - ExpandProperty RemoteHost}},

  • ESXi 4.1 Syslog on local storage

I recently change the location of syslog 'Scratch' to my 'local storage' destocking by entering the path ' / vmfs/volumes / < data store name > / < folder > / filename '.

As indicated by using this KB article http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1016621

After a reboot I check once again advanced settings where I change this path seems clerk. However when I browse my local database I don't see the directories created see/var/log and do I not see the created file

I watched the /etc/syslog.conf file and that shows me the way that I entered is committed as well

Can anyone confirm that it is correct

should I of created the way myself and the file?

Establishment of a local does not create the folder. But if you set the location (and the name of the file) then create the folder ESXi will start writing to the location immediately - restart is no necessary. I also found that the/vmfs/volumes /... format does not seem to work - I use /logs/host1.log [datastore1].

  • ESXi 5.1 syslogs and QRadar

I try to have one of my hosts send syslogs to QRadar, but the instructions I find online are slightly different and seem to be for ESXi 4.1.

That said it seems that the settings I need to change are:

    SYSLOG. OVERALL. LOGDIR - I entered: [] / scratch/log/messages

    and

SYSLOG. OVERALL. I entered the address IP of QRadar LOGHOST - with and without: 514 appended to the end.

But I can't seem to get the logs sent to QRadar. Anyone has experience with the 5.1 ESXi and QRadar and can provide assistance would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the communities.

Have you tried the following in SYSLOG format. OVERALL. LOGHOST?

    UDP://10.10.10.10:514

Changing the syslog settings don't automatically open Firewall ports.  You will need to go to the screen of the security profile to do so.

  • Change IP ESXi console reviews

    Hello

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the static IP address of the ESXi console prompt? The ESXi server is not on the network, and the guests are running. I can not connect to the server from vSphere client, but I need to change the IP addresses of the clients before I put the server on the network.

    Thank you.

Create a new vSwitch without physical connections in it. Configure the virtual machine / systems use the vSwitch the first time you turn on the guests. With that, they will be out of your network, but you should still be able to manually assign the IP configurations settings / NETWORK card inside the VM to what they should be. Then, change the network card in the computer network connection virtual is set to use up to one with a Teddy allocated.

  • Search bar default changes setting address bar search

In the past, I usually kept my search bar on IMDb, since I use that a lot, but I do Google search even more often, so I just type Google search terms into the address bar and hit < Enter >, which has always worked well. It was like having two bars at once, research which was totally awesome. However, having just "updated" Firefox about an hour ago, it now appears that selection of search from the address bar is now linked to the selection of the search bar. When I do a search with the address bar, search that results will invariably to whatever the choice lies in the search bar. I tried to go to topic: config and "reset" the setting of the browser.default.enginename, but he instantly changes to change the setting of the search bar. Please separate the address bar and the search bar back to the way they were before. It is extremely annoying.

    Additional information:

I just drove my computer where I'm headed back with Firefox 22.0 and immediately corrected behavior itself, which only confirms that there is a problem with the update to the worm 23.0, so I guess I'm stuck 22.0 for now. I also see in the 'What's New' notes for worm 23.0 that ' users can now switch to a new provider of research through the browser everything. • Replacement of UC in ESXi hosts - changes to ESXi/VM configuration necessary?

    Hello

We intend to replace the 4-Core Intel Xeon E5520 CPU in our HP ProLiant DL380G6 ESXi servers with processors 6-Core Xeon X 5670. Have we not make any changes to the configuration of ESXi/VM due to the replacement? I know that the model of physical processors type is indicated in the comments of operating system. Is it necessary to restart all virtual machines so that they can work with the new processors?

    Thank you
    Michael

In the worst case, you will need interruptions of service comparable to the "reboot only" (or a stop, (move to the new host), power on, restart).

It's a little strange that support scared you with downtime, as far as I know, it should be easy doable with VCA. Of course, it depends on zillion of other factors, but generally that's what VCA has been designed for. What is really the VMware Support, or 3rd party?

On the other hand, it is certainly much safer to prepare for downtime, like if you can avoid it, you will not blame anyone

In my environment, I have a disabled user with an Active Directory resource. Whenever I have to make changes to resource the user AD, the status of this resource is changed to "Set up" even if the resource is always disabled on the target system. I know that when a resource is disabled, you cannot change the shape. I made the changes through the API or the button on the interface of the IOM (I have a process configuration 'Change Password' task so this password is pushed to resources of the AD user) password reset.

I also installed a custom connector icf and it has the same behavior as above.

I would like to know if anyone has come across this problem before or have any thoughts in this issue the debug.

Check if the task that fires once resource mapping 'C' - implemented a disabled user That could be the reason!
