CineForm/ProRes

Hello

I need to provide a meeting place with a file of format ProRes on my movie.

As a Windows user, I can not encode export to ProRes format (unless there is a way?), so am I could export to a lossless as Cineform codec to provide the venue with what they can then convert it to a format ProRes for screening of thought. They are happy to do it, providing the codec I give them working on a Mac with Final Cut Pro.

I wonder if Cineform is the best option for this (and what are the best settings) and also if it is compatible with Macs running the FCP? I would like to avoid having the place need to install codecs so could use another lossless format that is already built in FCP when it exists.

Thank you!

CineForm is not lossless, but then again, isn't or ProRes.

However, Cineform is good too like ProRes and a perfectly acceptable replacement.  Out of PP, it will be created as a QuickTime file, but this does not necessarily mean that it'll work on FCP.  You should send them a small sample file to see if they can work with it.

  • Almost without loss best export formats?

    Hello

I need to provide a ProRes format file to a place that shows my work. I don't have a Mac, but they offered us convert a file that I can export to FCP.

I wonder what will be the best exports almost without loss for this? I considered Cineform but it's a video of m 87 and I imagine that the file size will be huge.

Any suggestions on the best almost lossless formats whose size is low which should work with FCP would be very appreciated.

    Thank you!

Size of the file without loss and low are usually mutually exclusive.

  • CineForm 422 vs ProRes 422

Is there a real advantage in transcoding of DSLR H.264 files to a 4:2:2 using NeoScene to coddec of Cineform 422 on the ProRes 422 with MPEG clipstream or Adobe Media Edcoder?

    Thank you

Well well, once again, the laws of Physics: there will be a transcoding quality loss any lossy as ProRes codec.  But the loss is slight and probably impercepable 99.9 percent of the human population.  But, when you jump a codec 8-bit of a 10-bit codec, the effects you add in step 10 - bit mind better than the effects added to images of 8 bits upward.

  • Media encoder do not have preset for ProRes 4 k or UHD, has only for Avid

I want to transcode my original MXF 4 k (actually UHD) of sony x 70 to ProRes for editing PP in 2015, but even the new update has no ProRes 4 k presets.  There are full frame presets of size for DNxHR MXF OP1a (for Avid) but nothing for 4 k ProRes for editing of PP.  Is there a "Preset"? I don't know, you can leave out the originals in PP but hear the originals H264 wrapper isn't good for editing re applications on system. So I want to transcode to proRes but keep the UHD image size. I have been informed that rates vary according to the size of the image and the pace, Adobe should therefore ProRes settings you can download. Someone knows?

A number of things.  First of all, the presets are just a shortcut to a group of settings that you can use again and again.  You can always make your own if you don't see one that you need.

Second, try Cineform.  The quality is just as good as ProRes and publishes it smooth as silk.  In addition, there is already a "Preset" for her.

  • ProRes footage Atomos Shogun 4 K on a PC... What is the trick?

Hello! I know there's another similar thread, but because the OP is vague, I thought I'd be a little more specific on the issues I'm having, especially working with images of ProRes LT Shogun 4 k on a PC.

I'm under the last 8.2 first

I have windows 8.1 Pro PC with Intel i7 5930 k CPU, 32 GB RAM, GTX GPUS (latest driver) 970 and OS on a SSD and project files on a HARD RAID0 drive. Installation fine by ADK.

Just saved a few clips on my new Shogun running firmware 6.01 connected to my Sony A7s. Recorded in 4K ProRes LT.

Copied the files on my computer and when I double click on it it opens Quicktime 7 and they play very well.

When I import into first on my PC. I drop them on the timeline and it changes the sequence settings which I am hosting. And then I can't really add more clips after that and it goes down from there with clips begins to show the yellow message "Media pending". They won't play well after messing around a bit.

I then did the exact steps same on my MacBook Pro 2012 retina running Mavericks OSX (and CC 8.2) and it works fine. No problem at all. I can import and play with ALL the files with no delay, issues, media in the meantime or something like that. Perfect.

I noticed that the generated sequence settings are automatically different on my PC that on mac still clip was dropped on an empty timeline.

Here is the sequence settings PC that creates the clip (which has problems):

    4KProResLT_onPC.jpg

    ....

And here's the sequence settings created when I drop this SAME clip on a timeline empty on a MAC running the same version of first (8.2) and has all the problems:

    4KProResLT_onMAC.jpg

The sequence settings Mac look much better, and the video codec preview seems to be good.

    Any ideas?

So, I got it to work. By downloading Desktop Blackmagic video from their site, first began to work very well with these clips. I think that Miraizon Quicktime ProRes could have been part of the reason it worked well at the start. I'm not sure. It was the latest Quicktime software I had downloaded so maybe he wasn't playing nice with first in how he plays these quicktime files, no matter what I changed in the first sequence settings. If I had reinstalled Quicktime 7 or, when I upgraded to Pro, had I then reinstalled QT once again, perhaps that would have solved it because maybe first would have gone back using quicktime player to the default playback and preview these MOV files. But no matter, install the Blackmagic fixed Desktop video.

I realized on my Mac that I had recently installed software BMD to use their switcher and in sequence settings, I've shown in the screenshot above of the MAC, first chose 'Blackmagic Quicktime Movie' automatically as the video preview format. Now, after installing the Blackmagic Desktop video player on my PC, first now can play and edit these files very well, no matter what the video format preview is in sequence of first settings (eg. I - frame or GoPro Cineform). It all works while in front of her, just didn't work. If I drop a clip on the timeline empty now on my PC, the look of parameters generated sequence exactly as they did when it did not work (see screenshot above), only now it works fine.

    I'm glad this is over.

  • Apple is no longer does Quicktime and/or ProRes support?

Hello, since the upgrade to El Capitan, Quicktime files will not play in the Finder, in Quicktime or the old application to Final Cut Pro 7.  At best, reading freezes or crashes the particular application (Quicktime, final cut PRO, Finder).  FYI: these are all video files that uses the ProRes 422 for FCP codec.  I'm assuming that these codecs are no longer supported by Apple because they worked well in the Yosemite and previous operating system.  If so, is it possible to return to Yosemite since El Capitan does not meet my needs? Furthermore, because Apple can't stand the ProRes codec, which is an appropriate codec I can transcode to?  In addition, since Apple does more support Quicktime, which is a video format appropriate (or wrapper) that is hosted by Apple products?  Thank you.

Of course it is supported. The ProRes codec family is used in all professional video products. But it is not installed a vanilla operating facility and has never.

  • Unable to log and transfer of media files ProRes 422 MOV in FCP 7.

The log window and transfer in final cut PRO 7 said my multimedia files to Apple ProRes 422 (in a .mov container) are "unsupported" and I'm unable to import. This is after I've used MPEG Streamclip to convert original h264 video files to Apple ProRes 422. I shot with a Canon 5 d Mark II. I missed something?

Do not use TYou log and transfer. It's for the camera Med.

  • Lack of easy configurations/FF ProRes. parameters

I recently did a fresh install of FCP 7 on my MacPro.

I upgraded to final cut PRO 7.0.3

I have FCP X installed (but it settles into its own Applications folder)

I copied and recopied the settings of Applications / Final Cut Pro extra easy configurations

to: disc HARD/Library/Application Suppoer / Final Cut Pro System Support/Custom Settings

I trashed and re-trashed my preferences through the rebellion preferably digital Manager

Not yet seeing all that ProRes easy configurations, but I see the codecs listed in my sequence settings.

Google and the forums here were not much help.

I'm not 100% sure on this issue but I don't think that there never were ProRes easy configurations. I don't have on the copy of the FCP 7 on my machine.

There is Res Pro from Apple capture settings, as well as all added by a third party such as AJA for use with their I/O device.

    May be wrong, however.

  • FCPX import as H.264 rather ProRes 422

I am running 10.1.4 FCX. When I import media from a archive of the camera, the clips are converted to H.264 instead of ProRes 422 format according to the Inspector.

My FCX preferences is set to ProRes 422 for import. What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

Final Assembly reports the original media format - although there are optimized versions. To check, select an item in the browser and in the Inspector > Info > available media representations, see if there is a green dot next to optimized.

  • Compressor 4, 4K of MXF ProRes 4 k files, the error message, codec not installed

    Hello
When you try to convert MXF 4 K in ProRes files I get an error message "codec not installed." I just bought 4 compressor andean can't seem to find a solution because it seems that I have updated with the latest version. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Strange thing is FCPX can load and process the MXF files...

In Information systems > facilities see if video Formats 2.0.4 is installed. If not, you can download here.

  • Convert MTS to Apple ProRes 422 HQ to compressor

    Hello

I started using Final Cut a couple of days.

I'm considering the purchase of compressor for batch-export out of Final Cut Pro X, but I was wondering if the compressor can also be used to convert the MTS to Apple ProRes 422HQ files prior to importation in FCP for editing, or is it a tool to export only?

If the encoding cannot be done with compressor, which conversion program are all the cool kids using these days?

I worked with the native MTS files to FCP. It's not as bad than I expected, believing he was close-on impossible to work with MTS removal a few years at my time of Premiere Pro. However, if I can speed up my work flow AND reduce slightly the size of the file, that would be great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

CCompressor could not be opened the .mts files.

IF you have some .mts files to test, you should try EditReady.

I don't think that you can reduce the file size more your .mts files are probably, but I guess it depends from whence they came.

  • MXF to ProRes 422

A client gave me a car that they got their cameraman. I need to get the files in Apple ProRes 422 for editing, but I don't know to use ClipWrap, Mpegstream Clip or XDCam transfer... or else.

Each file is a map and includes a series of folders: Clip, icon, Proxy, Audio, video, voice of the Audio and video files are. MXF.

    Any help would be great!

Looks that they shot Panasonic P2... it's the structure of files in this format.  None of the mentioned converters will not work.  To do this, you use standard old LOG AND TRANSFER files... even inside FCP.

Now... If they shot that has been saved as DVCPRO HD P2... which will come only in DVCPRO HD.  Cannot be imported as ProRes... the only option you have is DVCPRO HD... but it is a conversion without loss.  If they shot AVCIntra, then you can bring it like ProRes. In the journal and transfer of preferences (menu sprocket in the interface of log and transfer), there is a place to choose which format ProRes import AVCINTRA as. NOT AVCHD... AVCINTRA...

  • Seen as files TTB ProRes files

    Hey

I know that this issue as it has been talked about, but I've not found a way to repair.

For a few weeks, my MacPro see seen as files TTB ProRes files. If you open it with Quicktime X, it will convert. VLC will play very well, but it displays APCS under codec information. The TTB files can be used, because they misinterpreted ProRes files.

What is happening and how to fix it?

    Thank you.

Hello. It is actually not be converted.

TTB is the FourCC to Pro Res LT.

  • h.264 to ProRes

    Hello

I lost a project with all the sons, but I still have the final version of the movie that I exported in h.264 format. Unfortunately need to the television movie in ProRes.

    1. every person has an idea on how to do it?

I could simply import the h.264 into FCPX and then export to ProRes.

    2. my clients will notice that?

    3. There will be a problem for television?

    Thanks for your help

    Best regards

    Johannes

Select the file on the disk. Right click and go to Services > encode the selected video files. You will have a ProRes option in there.

  • How to convert with ProRes mass?

I'm cataloguing and search the old film files, which are mostly in the .mov format.  Seniors take some time to perform the conversion/upgrade, and I now know that it improves the quality using ProRes.  My question: can I I convert/update all my old film files massively so I don't have to wait everytime I open one of my old files?

My question: can I I convert/update all my old files film massively so I don't have to wait everytime I open one of my old files?

Assuming you are using a Mavericks (or later version) OS X, all your files are compatible, conversion and you use the same target setting, then you can select multiple files in the Finder and the use of the contextual menu option 'Encode video files selected' to 'batch' process all files to a common target user setting as ProRes 4-2-2 / LPCM.
