Circular reference to application Data

In some sort the JUNCTION "Application Data" has been reproduced in \username\AppData\local\, so now this machine has a circular reference. How can I remove it?

It is supposed to be there.

It is in all of my five systems.

What problems are you having?

  • Is there a way I can restore my backup profile that I took from a folder (for example Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\)

    Before re-installing Firefox 19, I took by mistake backup my profile in a folder - C:\Documents and Settings\garan14\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and not from C:\Documents and Settings\garan14\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles.

When installing, I chose option "Delete old profiles" and I don't see any old folder under C:\Documents and Settings\garan14\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles profile.

However, I have a lot of important data stored under that profile that has now been deleted.

Is there a way I can restore the old profile data? (PS: as stated above, I have a backup of the profile folder that is located under the Local Settings folder)

I'm in a desperate need for aid. Pls reply as soon as possible.

Firefox stores only cache files to the location of the local settings and not the files in the main folder of the Firefox profile.

There is no need to save this place in local contexts in any case.

The main folder of the Firefox profile is in "C:\Documents and Settings\ < user > change Data" on Windows XP.

If you have deleted your personal data during the uninstallation of Firefox and do not have a backup then your only option is to use an undelete utility to see if you can recover this profile folder.

  • whay in local settings application data folder is to consume a lot of space?

Why the application data folder in local contexts consumes a lot of data?

From what I've seen myself the urlclassifier3.sqlite file will be of ~ 28 000 KB to ~ 55 000 KB over time. The offline Cache is rarely used by websites to store data, and the Cache file will increase in size, until the user clears the Cache. Difficult to indicate a number of maximum on the size of the Cache size, as I have not seen 'numbers' posted (available disk space is part of authorized size) and I have not used the same profile long enough without emptying the cache to see a size max.

  • files stored in the cache of application data

Recently, my weekly virus scans took longer and longer. The number of scanned files is increased by tens of thousands every week. A search shows carefully files in the directory C:/Documents and Settings/userxxx/application data/Mozilla/Profiles/.../Cache/ is the likely source of all the instant of the hundreds of thousands of files which meets my anti-virus. Does anyone know Mozilla application, these files are created by? They are important or only temporary files "not working"?

The cache of firefox can be erased and should have no ill effects, although some websites can then take longer to load. If you decide to clear the cache, or part of it see:

You can get some info on what is stored in different caches of firefox by typing in the address bar on: cache the results are not very friendly (unless get you your hands on an add-on of the appropriate viewer cache), but it should help you to exercise which builds up and how big they are.

Have a firefox cache increasing by tens of thousands of files every week seems unusual to say the least, and I can start thinking about trying to check if the malware is the cause.

  • error when opening application data\microsoft\help\qyevopl.dll.

Original title: I get a window rundll on opening how do SFC?

Be very specific when telling me how to do this.  the box says application data\microsoft\help\qyevopl.dll

You also have to be precise!

If you receive an error rundll in opening, exactly what what would you say (be specific, not paraphrase).

It is extremely unlikely that SFC will help you, but you can if you want to get frustrated time and waste.  If you have a genuine XP installation CD bootable which has the same Service Pack as your installed version (most people don't) SFC will complain - a lot and you will be in for a frustrating waste of time.  Suggestin SFC is akin to saying "I don't know what the problem is or how to fix it.

There is no XP file called qyevopl.dll, so if that's what you're seeing, it sounds like your system is currently or has been affected by malicious software.

You should tell us about your system and then run some known for malware scanners.

It makes no sense to try to repair a system that is afflicted with malicious software, so if you still have the problem after scans run clean, then we can solve your problem.

Since the implementation of the Microsoft Answers forum does not ask for any kind of information system when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.

Provide information on your system, the better you can:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Do you have the Windows Desktop Search installed issue?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

What do you see (exactly) that you don't think you should see, and when you see it?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

Download, install, update and do a quick scan with these free malware detection programs (not at the same time):

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

SAS will probably report a lot of tracking cookies and you can just let him delete them.

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans by operating clean, restart, and then fix any problems.

  • OK to delete the files that are: C:/Documents and Settings/rjhirsch (me) / Local Settings/Application Data / identities / {31391EF3-B3AC-4F12-94D8-DC2DA45E9526} / Microsoft/Outlook Express

    Good afternoon:

Have recently been spotted by Windows XP Pro disk space on my C drive is low.  I reinstalled all the obvious large files (e.g., photos) on an external hard drive.  I have drilled down into individual files on the C drive to ensure other potential consumers of space. Found the folder that can be the source.

Last year, I converted from Outlook Express (OE) for Outlook.  At this point, I rode on my e-mail and the e-mail folders in Outlook.

I found a file in the following location that seems to contain the OE files.  I would like to know if the removal of these files of OE (~8.5 GB) impact my Outlook folder/mail e-mail before I remove them.

    The location is: C:/Documents and Settings/rjhirsch (me) / Local Settings/Application Data / identities / {31391EF3-B3AC-4F12-94D8-DC2DA45E9526} / Microsoft/Outlook Express.

The folder contains about 8.5 GB of e-mail to OE folders more of them are dated July/August 2010.

It is safe to assume that when I converted originally these OE e-mail/folders over to Outlook - that Outlook has caught up - and it's OK to delete these files?

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers.

    Rick

If you do not use OE, then Yes. It will not affect Outlook at all. Open the database messages OE, the folder that you have described, and remove all the dbx files. If you need OE once again, when you open OE, it creates new files dbx for all default folders such as Inbox, sent, etc. items.

  • The Application Data folder disappeared [not visible] _

It's apparently still operational-[i.e. Dragon user profiles are saved it] but the folder does not appear.
Tried a restore of the file to a temporary [in My Documents] location by using the restoration of Seagate. He restored but folder does not show it is folder then level up shows 3GB but no file is displayed when you click on it.

    Help appreciated.

The application data folder is supposed to be a hidden folder.  Applications and the operating system use this area to store the information needed to run these applications.

You can display it by activating the display of hidden folders:

    Double-click any folder
Click on tools-> Folder Options-> View (tab)
Then click on the check box "Show hidden files, folders and readers."
    "OK" your way out.

  • Changed the registry key for AppData Application data under the guidance of Adobe. Now lost models, smart tags etc.

    Hello everyone

My Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro died today. I have "instant chat" with the support of Adobe. They asked me to change my registry key in Windows (I use XP) data from app to App Data. Now my Acrobat works fine, but I lost all THE other parameters. This includes:

My preferences in all adobe CS (including layouts of pallet etc.)

    My Outlook e-mail footer

More importantly, my tags in Outlook.

These are just the programs I used in the last hours. I can't figure out how to get all these programs to point to App Data. I'm not a COMPUTER expert.

    Thanks in advance!

    Terri

It is a group of Vista so your talk to people who have not used XP in
    years.

If my memory is correct AppData (the record) was invented in Vista
and XP should be Application Data (Vista compatibility for XP
programs that use Application data it redirecting to AppData without the
    program to know).

    If you have changed
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell folders it was stupid advice from Adobe. Change it back. If it was a
different key can validate return which key it is.

  • Launch of non-functional quick toolbar. Folder of application data for this profile accidentally moved to the Cookies folder, cannot move to the right place and make quickstart functional again.

Toolbar start fast is the only app that has problems.  I can't start him because I have no permissions.  As this occurred, the Application Data folder somehow finished in the Cookies folder for this account.  It cannot be carried over to the location appropriate without disabling the Quick Launch toolbar.

    Hi lcynicl,

See if the paths to the shell in the registry file is correct. If this isn't the case, you may need to restore those which is incorrect. Use the table here:

    1. the first thing to do is to make sure that the computer is completely virus/malware-free. Googling around this error produced quite a few links where the posters were or had been infected with Spyware Protect 2009 rogue.

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Once the scanning is complete (do not skip the preparatory stages no more), if the problem persists:

    2. double-click on my computer, right-click the icon for your hard drive, click left to get its properties. If you see options to set Quota management make sure that they are disabled.

    3. in the case - BUT ONLY AFTER YOU ARE sure THAT THE MACHINE IS MALWARE/VIRUS-FREE - copy the lines between asterisks (not including the asterisks) below and paste it into Notepad. Save as undopolicy.reg somewhere, you will find. And then double-click the .reg file, that you have just made to melt in your registry. I hope that this will take care of the issue.
