Cisco Ea4500 limit my download speed on a wired connection.

If I use my router my download speed is approximately 55 Mbps, when my PC is plugged directly into my modem that my download speed is on 180Mbps. What happens here?

I recommend:

  1. Enable the prioritization of media
  2. Use a precise adjustment of the bandwidth downstream (to get precise numbers to connect a computer directly to the ISP modem and run the speed test internet www.speedtest.net )
  3. Initially to keep all devices and the app as normal priority
  4. Enable WMM support
  5. Unless required by your ISP IPv6 disable on slot Internet connections

I have a HP Pavilion p6347c AMD Athlon II X 4 630 2.80 GHz, 64 Bit, Windows 7 SP1 WITH 16 GB of Ram, using Comcast high speed Internet.

It works very well and I had no problem with my Pavilion until I replaced my old router G with a LinkSys E4200 (state-of-the-art, the top page of the router line N).  All the features work well, except that when I use Firefox 7.0 or Internet Explorer 9.0, the connection time is very very very slow when my computer is connected to my router with an Ethernet cable.  The problem disappears when I log - in using the same Ethernet cable - directly into the modem high speed; Then, the loading speeds are fast as lightning.  When I return to the router via a wired connection, even - page very very very slow post.

I've already spent about 8 sessions with LinkSys on the phone and chat, and it turns out that the router is not the problem (according to LinkSys).  They advised that I need to contact the manufacturer of the computer, or people who can respond to Windows 7 support issues.  Someone at - it ideas?  Maybe something I can change in the settings of the firewall, network, computer security options settings?

I connected my HP laptop running WINDOWS VISTA on the same Ethernet cable and disabled the wireless.  The speed of the wired connection is quick as a Flash - no problem at all.

Then why my desktop Windows 7 SP1 computer not offer me the same speed?  Whenever I need to do important online work, I have to unplug my Ethernet cable from the router and plug directly on the modem to get faster speeds.  I then reconnect to the router once completed, so that users without wire and devices on my network work.  It's very frustrating.

Help!  I am at a loss to understand why this computer has not faster to the Internet when wired to the router.  Is - this Windows 7?  There are some options that I need to change?  Someone at - he heard talk about this and you offer solutions?  Appreciate any assistance.  Thank you.  / Jacques novel /- [email protected]

P.S. Customer LinkSys was no contribution to this issue.  I hope that some tech "warned" this reading will say AH-HAH and offer a viable solution.

On a hunch, I selected the reset 'Factory Defaults' option in the Administration, after having updated the firmware. Something must have been damaged during the first attempt to install the router.

To reset the default settings, you must have the original Setup disk and re-install using the same router name and the password.

When this was done, the Ethernet connection worked perfectly.  Hope it will be useful to all having the same problem.

  • Download speed very slow on connection ca 5 GHz

    Hi all!

I recently Airport Extreme with 802.11 ac.

My ISP gives me 100/100 Mbit ethernet cable access.

When it is connected through Ethernet, the speed is ok.

When I go wireless on my MacMini using the download speed for the network 5 GHz is 100 Mbps, but upload is of 30-35 Mbps max.

I tried to reconfigure my wireless settings and reset the Airport Extreme, me and the guys from the verified ISP cables and connectors has renewed.

I'm not really bothered, but am curious on this matter. Any ideas?

    Thank you! ;-)

  • Download speed slow r7000 (wired and wireless)

I have the R7000 for about a year now and originally, I had the good download and upload speeds that corresponds with my ISP rates.

Right now my ISP (cable) delivers 120 Mbps down and 12 Mbps to the top.

However, I read an article on a website it my ISP would start by increasing the speed down to 150 Mbps and that in some areas what was already available.

That of why I unplugged my modem and plugged again after a 2 minute order to restart/reset and hoped for greater speed.

When I used several speedtesters (speedtest.net, my ISP speedtester, speedtest.nl, etc.), all came to the same result, approximately 90 Mbps down and 12 Mbps to the top.

Yesterday, I did the test on 2 separate wired computer (HTPC and desktop).

After connecting my HTPC directly to the modem and the test I got good publicity (120 Mbps down) and 12 Mbps speeds upward.

Therefore, it is certainly connected to the router.

Today, I also tried by Ookla's speedtest.net on my S5 Galaxy with 5G wireless and got the same bad results as with the wired connection (90 Mbps down) and 12 Mbps up.

I am also on a channel that is not occupied by another user.

I also noticed that the firmware version higher on the R7000 support site is 1.0.4.30, but when I look in the upper right of the router web INTERFACE it shows the version of the firmware V1.0.5.48_1.1.79.

    How is that possible?

In addition next to the Advanced Settings tab, there is a message that a new firmware is available.

When I click on this message the router tries to connect to the server to download the Netgear firmware, but after a few seconds it told me that there is no new firmware available.

I read here on the forum of others with similar problems and tried to revert to a lower firmware version.

But I could not find an answer to this version referred to a firmware that works best.

    My questions:

    (1) what would be the first thing to try?

    (2) when to return to a previous firmware, what is the best firmware choose?

    (3) what is the correct procedure for the recovery of firmware?

P.S. for your upload and download QoS information is always off.

Indeed, the RAM has solved the problem.

P.S. I accidentally marked the answer of Tarund as the answer to my question.

    Can you please remove that?

  • How to control the download speed

Currently firefox downloads files to 220 Kbps. I want to limit the download speed at 100 Kbps. help, please.

Firefox is not a way to limit the download speed.

You will need to use an external Download Manager to get additional features like that.

You can use the FlashGot extension to integrate an external Download Manager in Firefox.

  • Download/Download speed of control with windows vista

I've searched for a solution to control my download speed on my system. I live in a House with other roommates and need to know if there is a way with windows vista to restrict my network speed and download. I looked at the software and routers, routers, or way out of my price range and offers much more, then I would need a home network. Software requires another computer to stay on at all times, working as a router/firewall software. If there is some hidden in windows settings, this would solve my problem.

    Thanks, Skyday

    Hi Skyday_BG,

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of Windows Vista.

There is no option to set the download speed on a particular computer in Windows Vista. There are 3 third party applications which allows you to limit the download speed of Windows Vista.

    WARNING OF THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE

  • LAN download speed is very slow on Satellite C650D-108

    Hey guys,.

I have a problem with my laptop Toshiba C650D-108.
First of all, my English is bad a little... Sorry for that.

My download via Ethernet speed is very very slowly (20 kb/s), but via a WLAN, I have 14MB per second! The pilot and the windows are new and reinstalled. Cable Ethernet etc are fine. Download via Ethernet AND wireless LAN speed is perfect (16 MB per second)

    But why? Please help me!

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome them

    Hello

How can you check the download speed where you download something? Have you tested different browsers and the different webspaces where you can download files?

Usually the download speed depends on your connection Internet and not the type of connection (WLAN/LAN).

In any case, perhaps the LAN driver update would be useful. Simply visit the Web from Toshiba site and reinstall the LAN driver.

  • Why is it not my wireless network download speed is much slower with the wifi only direct connection?

When I run a speed test using WIFI download speed is much lower than that when I cnnectfrom the modem direct to my pc.

    Hi CHERYLA106,

WiFi uses the wireless connection, this is normal behavior.

In the wired connection, there is no interference and the signal strength will be good. Therefore, you will find good speed with the wired connection.
  • EA4500 cannot take advantage of the superior ISP of 50mbps download speed

I have been successfully using the EA4500 from April 2012 to 25mbps download speed provided by Cox. However, Cox has recently announced that it hit my download speed up to 50mbps.  Who wouldn't enjoy the speed, right double.

When it is connected directly to a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem, I realize the speed of 50mbps download promised.  But, when it is connected via an electrician to the EA4500, I only get 25mpbs download speed.

MUCH has been written on this issue in the forum, because I spent the last two hours looking for similar positions.  A lot of tips here and I tried to tweak the MTU settings, disabling 5 GHz network, firmware, MAC clone settings updates, etc.  But nothing does increase my beyond 25mbps download speed.

Before I have the support of a $30 fee pony, I thought I'd try to post.  Is the EA4500 simply not able to handle 50mbps download speeds?

  • Internet provider DOWNLOAD speed vs Airport Extreme

    Hello

I had download speeds slow on my Airport Extreme for ipad, iPhone and imac.

I have a modem connected via Ethernet cable to an ac Airport Extreme 802.11 Optimum.

Ran to the application of speed test on my ipad II (within 5 feet of the airport).

The results showed that the download is only 2.12mbps and upload is 24.97mbps. I pay for the 50mbps service.

I tried the same thing by using a new iPhone SE and timed to 22,93 download and upload to 23.95. A little better but still not enough good.

I contacted Optimum and they ran a couple of tests showing that my modem is online, signals are ideal, there is no loss of data to the modem and there is no failure in the region.

They recommended connect a laptop directly to the router and without going through the airport. Will try it tonight to see the results.

Assuming that the connection of the cable between the modem and the laptop is fast, what I can do to improve the speed of the WiFi?

There is something to put in place at the airport? I guess there will be a reduction in speed between wired devices and WiFi but not this bad. What is the maximum number of devices (iphones, ipads or imacs) airport can support? I have at least 6 or more WiFi sharing schemes and wonder if this is the problem.

    Thank you

    Bob

Please read using the Diagnostics wireless for you help to solve the problems of Wi-Fi on your Mac - Apple Support.

What is the maximum number of devices (iphones, ipads or imacs) airport can support?

Apple recommends 50. I got that three dozen sharing an Apple base station AirPort simultaneously with no noticeable performance degradation.

The factor limiting the bandwidth will be the most restrictive of what follows, in no particular order:

    • your ISP
    • your local wireless environment, including other interference and competing wireless networks
    • the performance of the client machine
    • out of your control network conditions

Your AEBS will not limit the bandwidth, but if you have reason to believe that it is, a "hard reset" is the only possible troubleshooting step. On rare occasions, an internal parameter becomes corrupted and this is the only way to fix it. By 'rare', I mean "almost never" and the last thing you should consider, after rule out all other possible causes of poor wireless performance.

  • Slow download speed of RVS 4000

I use a Cisco RVS 4000 to test a new internet connection of 10 M / 10 M.  I'm having a little problem, the test of speed of PSI (speedtest.cavtel.net).  Download test always gives me 10Mbit/s, maximum for the connection speed, but the download speed is usually about 5.5 Mbps. My ISP has been on site and checked the lines and tested directly, and we determined that if connected directly we can test to complete download speeds, but when the RVS is connected, we can get full speed.

We tried different cables, reset to factory settings, update firmware, change the port settings and toggling the majority of the other setting on the router. Some settings have a minor effect on the speed of download, but nothing that gets me back up to 10 Mbps.

I noticed that there seems to be no way to set parameters of speed and trading on the WAN port. Perhaps miss me him, because this seems like a possible culprit.

Otherwise, the only one I can think of is a guarantee of return to determine if the device is defective.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • WRT160N download speeds

I get me wired 12.3Mbs download speeds, but only 350 kbps wireless. I contacted the live chat of Cisco, who suggested that update the firmware. I've upgraded to V3.0.03. Now, I get download speeds of 3.0 Mbps (10 x improvement) wireless, but my Wired download speed slowed to 3.3Mbps. If I connect directly from the modem without the router, I'm wired on 12.56Mbps download speed. What gives? When I contacted the chat live once again they sent me here. Any help would be appreciated.

    Tom

I checked online and it does not appear that your Motorola SB120 has all the features router then it is a straight modem.  It should be able to be used as a bridge to your router, which is what you want.  I would consider contacting Comcast to make sure that your modem is set to full bridge mode.  You can then plug your Linksys (suggest do hard reset and using the installer to properly reconfigure your router).

  • Download speed very slow on the wired Ethernet connection

I am currently getting 200 Mbps down and 0.3 MB/s on my desk wired Ethernet connection. I should get 200 down and 20 upwards.

    • On my wireless adapter on the same router, I have ~ 18 Mbit/s to the top and about 15 Mbit/s down, which seems that the wireless adapter works fine.
    • I plugged in another computer with the same cable on the same router port and got the full speed (200/20), then the problem lies within my computer.
    • I made a transfer of files to and from my computer to another computer connected to the same router and I got the full speed Gigabit times come and go.

I searched high and wide on the internet and forums, and that many people have had the same problem I have, nothing of the multitude of solutions worked for me.

That's what I tried without success:

    • Uninstalled the Ethernet card, deleted the drivers, forcing the new drivers to install again. No change of speed.
    • Carefully checked for Virus and malware programs (crossed the registry as well), but found nothing, and nothing has been installed recently other than windows updates.
    • The only antivirus I have is Windows Defender. I turned off and turned off the Windows Firewall, but speed did not improve.
    • I tried with IE, Chrome and Firefox, speed with different services and all tests show similar speeds. I also used FTP to a server I have, and the speeds were the same.
    • There is no other traffic devours bandwidth.

So what I have gathered so far, it's that my Ethernet card works very slow only when downloading from the internet. Within my network, it works fine.

What is a service that does not work well? If so who? I am not knowledgeable on the use of all services. I checked IPv4 and IPv6 and they both seem to be configured correctly, but I can't say that I am certain of what "correctly configured" is.

    These are my specs:

    HP Desktop H9 - 1215t

    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1

    32 GB OF RAM

    64 bit

    Chip Intel i7-3770

Controller Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20)

I would really appreciate some help here because this problem I'm paralyzed.

    Thank you for your time,

    Tom

    By George, you got it!

For someone who thinks he's good at Googling, I could sure use some improvements!

The key has been the link to explanation. While I had been close to my tests, this for shows that even when you sort-of-one little-peut-be-think you know what you're doing to keep your legs unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

The answer was definitely Large Send Offload, but it was a little more complicated, at least to understand what really happened. Neutralization of him gave the tour, but now I work with an active v2 and it works like a charm.

I will detail what, in my opinion, happened here for those who may have similar problems so that they (you) may be able to figure out, as all cards are different and may require slightly different settings.

I live in an area where so far the download speed over fast, I was able to get is 2 Mbps, on a good day, it's usually on average 1 ~ 1.5 Mbps. download speed is between 5 ~ 20 Mbit/s.

I do a lot of video work and I constantly have to download large files on my servers. I got the computer described above about 8 months ago, and my Age (2 years) one remained on my home network.

For a week or two, I was cursing my ISP because the internet was slower than usual and very glitch. I tested my speed and got 20 down and 0.2, repeatedly. So I went through the long and technology-challenged call representative to 'help' me, I was paying for 20/2. Only option was to wait a week for a technician to come out of my house, he stressed have shot my injurybut not before you ask me, that there are faster speeds to internet available in my place. 200/20 which is 10 times what I had, so of course I went with her. In doing so the representative asked me to Exchange my modem/router for a new handle faster speeds.

When I replaced the modem/router, I found that the download speed went from 50/0.2 (after the new request speed but still with the old router) to 200/0.3~0.5 with the new router. I also had a Cisco E2000 router that I turned into a switch, which was also bogged down internet high speed (now that they have been much faster). But still the download speed has not really improved.

This long and winding history is so that you (read this with a similar problem) might find the answer to your particular problem.

Looking back when I said that the issue was in my computer because that became high speed was not quite accurate. The 'problem' was beyond my router, if the solution was in my settings with the LSO parameter. The 'problem' was not really a problem since what I see (guess) that's happened is that my ISP has been updated with equipment, and the settings on my new pc has become a problem while paradoxically not so in my old pc.

My old pc equipped with a "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and the IPv4 LSO parameter turned on, that she was no problem under the new set of circumstances ISP. 200 / 20 Mbit/s.

Then when I compared the setting on my new computer, it never crossed my mind that the neutralization of him would solve the problem.

My new pc has a Atheros AR8161/8165 controller PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet (NDIS 6.20). This adapter has a setting "IPv4 LSO" more setting "IPv4 LSO v2" and "IPv6 LSO v2" décor. I don't think that my ISP uses IPv6.

In my quest to solve the problem, I placed all of the above settings to "Enabled", without success and in my fog don't reverse these settings.

With the 3 off, it worked fine, but I got a 5 ~ 10% improvement on the download speed with the LSO IPv4 v2 enabled and the other disabled.

There is no way representing the service provider on the phone could know this, so calling them would not / has not solved the problem. Even waiting a week for the technician most likely would not have solved the problem as it would be measured using a laptop full download and the download speeds.

I'm sure this will become a problem most current internet speeds that House are starting to soar (thanks Google!), so I hope this helps those who have similar problems.

    To summarize:

Click on start->Control Panel->Device Manager->network adapters-> your adapter name (mine is Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI - E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20), right click and select Properties. On the advance tab, find good Large Send Offload (IPv4) and change its value to disabled , and then click on OK.

If you have a Large Send Offload (IPv4) v2 try to set that to enable (with either a handicapped of course).

    I hope this helps!

    And thank you George.
