Click-box behavior and call javascript

Greetings,

While working on a project, I noticed odd behavior regarding the behavior of click-box where there is more than one box click on a slide.

Here's the situation:
I have a lesson in Captivate project (2). In several slides, I have a box on the slide where the user can access material outside the lesson. They do so via clicking on a click box. The click box is set to fire a javascript that opens additional content (external url) in the window which 'floats' above the slide currently displayed.
Javascript is a script of browser window open standard with the parameters passed.

Here are the called script (it is located in standard.js):
function openBrWindow (theURL, winName, features)
{
Window.Open (Theurl, winName, Features);
}

This script is called in Captivate in:
Insert-> Click-box-> if the user clicks on inside the box of success-> run Javascript

An example of a typical call:
Box click-> JavaScript: - > in the window/field is:

JavaScript:openBrWindow('_ _http://www.mydomain.com/about/org-Pol/f-07/f-07-016.html','mypolicy','width=800,Height=600,ScrollBars=yes');

It works very well. A window with this URL opens on the slide arrested.

Strange behavior happens where I have more than one of these boxes click on a slide. If the user clicks on a second click box, the correct URL (different) opens in a window is OK, but the progress of the slide (now behind the new window open). It should not go to the next slide. It should stay put until a user clicks on a particular button to advance.

Has anyone seen this type of behavior before? Is this a bug in Captivate 2? Or a bad javascript call? Any thoughts?

Thank you for your comments.

TPK

Hi TPK

When you change the properties of the click box, note that there are two buttons to the right of the field 'JavaScript '. One of the points of suspension (...) and you have probably clicked that one to get into the script. The other is an arrow down. You must click on the arrow and uncheck the option "continue playing project." You will need to do this for each click box, the user can interact with where you do not want to continue if the user clicks on the slide.

See you soon... Rick

  • Navigation and call Javascript

    Hi all, I have a big problem. I want to use the Navigation to a URL and both want to call Javascript to close the browser. I used the code for this as follows:

    navigateToURL (myUrlPath, "_blank");
    ExternalInterface.call("saveglobalscore",score) ('closeWindow');

    But until the Flash navigate to another URL, external Interface calls for 'closeWindow' Javascript function.

    and because of this navigation will be lost and did not navigate to this URL.

    So please let me know how to get the navigation is Flash or not?

    Maybe you can use the external interface to trigger a javascript timer function that closed the first page.

  • try to create several boxes to click with images and audio comments

    I'm not too familiar with captivate and would like to possibly ready to provide guidance.

    I am creating a screen in a course which is a graph (jpeg) and in the graph, there is 4 areas that are false.  I want to learners to find out all the four questions by clicking on each of them.  When they click on each of them, will receive an image with textual comments (jpeg) and they will also hear a short audio clip.  When the audio is finished, the image should disappear, the learner can then on other possible issues that will work the same way.  There is no notation, there is no restriction to find each number in a specific order, etc.

    I tried to create boxes to click for this, but it does not work... the project never stops for the learner to click on the graph, it just continues and played audio until the learner clicks on anything whatsoever... and never displays text comments (jpeg).

    Thanks in advance for any help.  HaPpY Friday!

    Yes, I want the project to have a break.  for some reason he has not paused.  If you look at the timeline, my audio blade plays to set up the interaction, then when it gets to the click box he just continues to play with no break and plays the audio that I attributed to him.  It is not disply my image of feedback however.

    This makes me wonder how you preview. If you say that you use the type 'Play this slide' preview, that's why. This type of preview is more to simply observe rough (and I don't want to fuck in every sense of the term) calendar. Interactive elements such as click boxes, buttons, and text entry boxes do not work in this type of preview. That's why you see not all comments. (If this is the type of preview you used)

    mon_mac wrote:

    Yes, I am trying to use an image for the comments, not a caption box.  can I do this?

    Well, Yes and no. In that sense, Yes, you could configure things so that a click simply allows the playback head visit another slide or whatever. And on the slide that you visit, you have an image, the user sees. Who could act as your comments. You can also configure the click box with a legend of success or failure to the feedback. They click on the click box or the outer and trigger the legend must be revealed. You can use an image of your choice for the legend. And must not contain text.

    Before going further, let's see if everything what I offered this day helps your question.

  • Captivate 6 is overwhelming when inserting click boxes and other issues

    Desperately need help because I have never seen something like this.  I use 6 Captivate in the workplace and have not run on a question like that in the 9 years I've used the Captivate.

    Captivate will not open all new projects (800 x 600 or 640 x 480 etc..)  Nothing happens.  When I open the 1024 x 768 (the size of the project I used last year), a new project opens, but when I try to add a click box, I get an error message "a fatal error has occurred and the application is completed.»  Adobe Captivate, tried to put all your work in the respective project in the form of files "cpbackup" files  Please restart Captivate.  Only, this has happened for a week.

    When a colleague or employee of IT connects to my computer under their profile, Captivate works very well for them.  I went to another office of co-workers who Captivate and when I connect to his computer under my profile, I have the same problem, so we thought that my work profile was corrupt.  HE set up a new profile 2 times, I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 or 4 times and nothing works.  We are on a network but Captivate is installed on my c: drive and I save all my files on the c: drive.

    The strange thing is if can open the files I've worked on this last year (there are up to 2 weeks), they are great and I can insert click without any problem areas.  Sometimes, just when I try to create a new file.

    We have to work Adobe volume licenses so I can't call and get support and none of us can understand it.  I would be very grateful for the help!

    Thank you

How can I solve this problem? I tried everything I could think of. I deleted my cookies (and Add-ons), re-installed Adobe Flash Player and nothing works.

    What browser are you using IE or Firefox or others?  Sometimes special versions of Flash are required for browsers, and besides, IE 64-bit does not support modules including Flash, she, that is to say, it takes the 32-bit version, even on a 64-bit machine.

    Take a look at IE / tools / manage add-ons and make sure that 'Shockwave Flash Object' is enabled.

    Check that you downloaded the correct version in the first place.

  • Captivate 8 - click boxes and bar of the player when shooting in 'Training' mode

    Whenever I have the movie in training mode I have the settings so that the click boxes will be automatically added to the project; However, every time that I read the slides that have the auto added click boxes, of the Player bar does not appear. I then manually replace the auto added boxes. When this is done, the Player bar reappears.  Looks like a lot of effort. Any ideas?

    It is a design logical for me, if it were not the case I would disable the PlayBar manually. If you have a PlayBar, the user can simply rub with the progress bar and not learn anything at all. Training assume they can only progress when after completing action on each slide, either by clicking on a location or type a text in BER.

    Using Captivate 5.5, in the same blade I try to use a box click to access a URL, but also to pause the slide with a button continue. When the click is selected, the URL is displayed, but the Captivate project moves to the next slide. My goal is to have the project on hold and require the participant to click continue to go to the next slide.

  • TEB and click box question (v5.5)

    I'm building an interactive simulation of an application.  In the slide, I have a text box and a click box.  The text box simulates the user to enter the search criteria in a field and the simluates of box click the user click on the button Search to perform the search.

    On the click box, I put the action on the success to perform advanced Actions.  The tip action checks if the user has entered 'R' in the text box.  If they did, the simulation moves to the next slide.  If they did not, a text caption (Text_Cation_216) displays an error at the bottom of the screen.  When the blade reaches the end of the timeline, it starts a tip Action that rewinds to the second 1 point on the current slide.

    My problem is that when I click in the TEB to change the text, the failure to box click Display message.

    textbox-clickbox.png

    I read in another post that I could remove the box click on and select the option Show button for ETB.  When I check the section TEB properties options, the View button is checked, but disabled.  Another round proposed placing the BER in a higher layer of the timeline, but that made no difference.

    What I'm looking for is a way to display the message of failure for the click box, unless I'm clicking in the ETB.  Not sure if there is one way to do it other than the creation of several slides.

    Setting up the text again and this time input field, choose the option to use the button for the ETB.

    Then when you have the button visible, replace it with a transparent button, delete the text from the label and place on top of the area where your click box is now.

    This should allow you to use the default button for the ETB to trigger the validation of the text and then to see the legend of failure or success for the ETB itself.  You won't need a clickbox.

  • A4: The Click Box and feature button

    Hello

    I am creating a slide of summary in a project of capitvate users will consider before taking a quiz.  I would like this slide contains hyperlinks on various documents.  I want users to have and an unlimited number of time to look these over, and then click all they are interested in and then click a button to continue the quiz.

    No matter what options I put the click box, the project will continue for the quiz when a user clicks one of the hyperlinks!

    Here is an example of this tutorial (just the blade of the review and the first quiz slide): https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/lfschmidli/Captivate/sample.swf

    Hi Laura

    From what I have seen that you have specifically selected off the options to pause the movie until the user clicks. So now you're stuck as to why the film is not a break.

    Try to activate the option to pause. You can also view the page on the link below: more precisely point 13.
