Clipping Mask question

When I release the this image clipping mask, flowers and peas jumping out of the teapot. No idea how to keep them inside? Thank you!tea pot clipped.jpg

I had this happen to me before, and I can not reproduce consistently. You should not directly choose the outermost clipping mask. Most of the time, by selecting the whole with the regular Selection tool and releasing the mask only releases the outermost, as it should.

    Hey everybody,

I know how to add clipping masks to shapes in Photoshop is no problem.

one thing I don't understand, is how to do part of the photo back once you have it locked in a clipping mask.

    Like this...

    9.jpg

I love the way the upper part grows out of the clipping mask.

someone knows how to do this?

    Thank you guys

    Hiya

Simply copy the layer structure in my example. Once you have the image of filling on the top layer and a black layer mask in place, make sure first that the blending mode is set to 'normal', it should be as it is by default. Press d on the keyboard to select the colors of foreground and background by default, then x to make a pure white the foreground color. Press b on the keyboard to select the Brush tool and set it is small enough and halfway between soft and hard and the opacity to 100%.  Now click on the layer mask black on the top layer to select and begin to paint on the canvas. You should see the image at the top starts to become visible as you paint. If you go off and parts of the image you don't want revealed begin to appear then simply change the color of foreground to black by pressing x on the keyboard and paint on the unwanted parts to hide. Then alternate the color white again by pressing x and continue painting, ensuring that all the time that the layer mask is selected is not the image itself. If the edges of the picture that you paint look causing some simply reduce the hardness of the brush.

    Hope it's a little clearer.

  • Question about problem with the file using a clipping mask

I use Photoshop CS6.  I bought a digital frame with a mask of clipping on Etsy.   When I go to insert the image in the image using the clipping mask image continues to show through the edges of the image (as pictured).  I tried blocking layer, but it does not work.  Any suggestions?20140925_184509.jpg

Try this, 2 layer moving below 3 attach them.

Hang out with the selection tool ellipse a circle that encompasses the area which should show the image

Create a mask for the form (make sure the shape layer is selected {now layer 2 to 3} click the icon at the bottom of the layers panel that looks like a circle inside a square)

You should now see your image.

If you get stuck, you can capture your screen to show your progress.

    Tips for the selection tool:

You can hold the SHIFT key to constrain to a circle

You can hold the ALT key to draw a selection of its center circle,

You can hold both modifier key for a perfect circle drawn in the Center.

Finally you can hold down the SPACEBAR to move the selection before you release the mouse button.

  • Two questions - a clipping mask and color change in the Group

    Hello

I have a file I rendered in Maya as a vector. I'm not that great with illustrator, so I was trying to speed things up...

In any case, it appears all of the files have a clipping mask. If I unrelease, it shows a plain with a similar dimensions that is the original color of the object. See picture for before and after...

In addition, article even says it's in a group. For this reason, I can't seem to change its color, and the separate button is gray... very confusing.

    Jaredlogprob.jpg

To group or ungroup, you must first select the art.

You can do this with a tool of choice or use the layers panel by clicking to the right of the circle of the name of the groups.

Then disassociate will be available but it is not necessary to separate so deit if you double-click on the group with the selection tool black arrow he'll bring you back in the isolation mode of the group which will allow you to change the group, as if they were individual objects that are separating.

When you have finished double click anywhere outside the group to leave the isolation mode. You will find this feature will be preventing them from making bald, because you him tear not all outside whenb group edition in complex projects.

Regarding the change of color as already mention Nedopil > change color > Recolorier Art more or less the same kind of protection mounting which can save you aggravation in the art complex.

  • image sizes for the photo and moodboards clipping masks

    Hello

I place images/photos to the web and Pinterest on my plans to work in Illustrator for both mood/inspiration cards as well to use with clipping masks.

Should I adjust the size of the image files in photoshop before placing them so that my illustrator file does not become too large?

Or can I use object > rasterize > and choose the resolution/ppi to do the same thing?

    Thank you

Of course, you must define your own strategies for these questions according to your needs. Sure raster image data, excess will swell your files unnecessarily, but according to the availability of extra storage space in your computing environment and your ultimate output intent, may not be worth the extra time and effort for the goal-size things in Photoshop before placement. Only you can decide that priority. If the images are 'of the web and Pinterest', chances are, they are already low-resolution, and you would not shave number of bytes out of them anyway.

Or can I use object > rasterize > and choose the resolution/ppi to do the same thing?

N ° which is designed for elements vector rasterize at your chosen resolution. It will not change the resolution to something that is already rasterized.

  • A simpler method of dividing or clipping mask?

OK, I'm back with a new question. Design to go on Tshirt

    NOT CE DESIGN, just example.

Shirt color shows while creating lines in the gun (indicated by black background)

Here I have a firearm on a locked layer black background. All the white parts of the pistol

are their own forms, grouped. (so the gun rest the gun.)

As you can see, with a pistol on the right, the black background (color of the shirt) shows

by creating the outline of the gun.

Now, I want to overlay of this indicator on the gun to fire at

where it seems that the gun has a flag on this issue.

    2016-01-11_23-45-00.jpg

Now here's a clipping mask. Yes it works, but for what I do. I can't have paths in the background

that make up the flag. No extra charge no matter what, just the barrel and research as it has a flag. Clipping path

method also creates a larger file. For screen printing on t-shirts, these additional lines of the invisible flag

    can cause a problem.

    2016-01-11_23-46-34.jpg

Divide then works fine. I put the gun in the back, the flag on the front and divide. Then ungroup.

In the image below, I've removed many of the parts of the Pavilion which were divided.

However, then I have to hunt for the paths that I want to be transparent (so shirt shows through lines).

It takes a lot of time. You can see that I chose a piece inside the drum of spinning, where the bullets are going inside.
This piece is deleted, like many others, up to what the black shirt color indicates where to, once again.

    2016-01-11_23-57-02.jpg

There must be an easier way to do it. So he superimposed the indicator only on the white of the forms that make the gun
as a clipping mask, but where I can remove all paths associated with the parts of the flag I don't need.

    Notice to lovers?

This is exactly the situation I have right now. I have a skull that I need to superimpose a flag on.

    I THOUGHT WITH A WORKAROUND... I'M A GENIUS!

Thus, while brainstorming, I think I have a better method.

We will use a black background as a cutter.

With the help of a black background even size as a document.

With the help of skull original to cut through leaving the black. (select skull and black background then split)

Edit > cut black (who is a master of cutting everything that needs to be transparent.) now in the Clipboard

Put the flag in the document, paste black flag.

    Select Black punch and flag.

    Divide

    Ungroup

Select same fill color (by selecting the black hole)

    Delete

ALTO! Left with all the pieces that have the color of the flag.

    ALL VECTORS. Reduced file size.

    I'M A BEAST!

I now use cookie cutter method on all the models that I had.

and it's considerably allowing a reduced file size.

Mainly because there is only one group, which contains all the parts

    that make up the drawing.
With the help of text and expand on the text damaged by arches, which had created grunge effects

    large file formats.

Maybe all that could be cleaned.

However, this method is so easy.

  • How to align the elements (groupItem) with clipping masks?

I have a script which aligns a groupItemToBeAligned on a layer to an another referenceGroupItem on another layer, well. Problem comes when the groupItemToBeAligned consists of elements that have a clipping, masks just to help

    groupItemToBeAligned.position = referenceGroupItem.position;

Does not work, he takes the position of all, what is the best method to align what is actually visible? I tried to use:

    var vBounds = referenceGroupItem.visibleBounds;
    x1 = vBounds[0];
    y1 = vBounds[1];
    x2 = vBounds[2];
    y2 = vBounds[3];
    groupItemToBeAligned.position = [x1, y1];

    Produces the same results unfortunately.

Huzzah, once again! I can't express how much it helps to have the file you are editing. This version is perfectly aligned all work plans. I would like to know if you have any other questions. =)

  • Draw a clipping mask from the back/Above with applied?

    Hello

Not sure if this question has already been resolved but I have CS6 and I always encountered this. In general, when I start a vector illustration, I tend to draw the outline of the object and use it as the clipping mask.

Then I add details within the clipping mask by creating a new "paths/objects/etc" but the "'out of the back/above" feature does not work. " The new "paths/objects/etc" moves automatically to the top of the layer above the clipping mask, and I always have to drag in the clipping mask.

Maybe I've done this wrong all the way through but its just something that I feel like I need to ask.

    Thank you!

If the clipping mask is already there?

In this case would want to try the isolation mode.

  • race around a clipping mask

    Hello

I have a picture, I created a circle on top of the image

I created a mask with the transparency Panel, it's a clip mask and the image appears only inside the circle.

    My question?

How can I have a white line around the circle?

    Thank you!!!

    Mauricio

To add a line for the mask, do not use the transparency Panel. Use instead object > clipping mask > make. You can then select the mask outline and add your feature.

  • Inside, clipping masks to draw & paint Live

I made a drawing of an excavation of stone floor and I used 'draw inside' to delimit the borders of excavation as below:

    Drawing_1.png

and this is what it looks like with selected content edit:

    Drawing_2.png

Unfortunately, I also wanted to bring in drawing mode "Live painting" the sections "coloring" (the above is just a small section of a much larger design), but because 'draw inside' creates a clipping mask, this object is now incompatible with the paradigm "live painting"! So I thought I would "expand appearance" to continue and that's what I get:

    Drawing_3.png

What is everything? Whatever it is, it is not very useful!

My question is, is there a way for me to properly translate an object 'draw inside' to a 'Live Paint group "? The items above are simple shapes with a single filling and the race.

    Thank you

Release the clipping mask (which is inside this draw is in reality) and do a clipping from the database layer mask instead (click on the button layer mask in the layer panel)

Then you can paint them direct: select all, but the mask and just use the live paint tool.

  • CS6 actions > batch saving of images in a clipping mask problem

    Hey all,.

Been at this for a certain brand in now and searched the www thin suggestion - so really hope someone can help me here.

    Objective:

-Target a folder with .gif xxx patterns (in the same size)
-Configuration of batch stocks open each image in the folder, copy the image of the model individually more to one. PSD file which have a silhouette of the handle.
-Apply the model on the clipping mask
    -Outside save as .png

    Question:
So far, Ive had only automate > batch to save to a .png with the pattern correctly applied to the silhouette.

I have experince, it's so close, I have everything down and start automate > batch then Photoshop will complain of not being able to locate the clipping mask.
In my configuration of action I everything first open my .psd containing my form of sleeve, then open a real model image and then all the other steps ending with saving the .psd with a model in .png clipping mask.

Just to give an idea on my setup take a look here:

    http://i.imgur.com/FE8mSEU.PNG

In this case below, I've closed everything and run Automation > lots, which gives me the error that you can see here:
    http://i.imgur.com/7Cvj26D.PNG

Any suggestions on what I could hurt OR if I do something wrong?

Screenshot shows an Action that works for me in a batch.

  • Clipping masks and adjustment layers

If anyone can answer this question quickly I'll be eternally grateful. I'm having a problem with clipping masks does affect the planned layer any background color I have on.

For example-, I have some letters that I want to apply an adjustment layer map gradient. To only affect the text layer I oscillate between the adjustment layer and the layer to now the Option + click to get the double b + w circles clip.

When I cut my layer ad, I don't get my purpose. The only way I see the adjustment gradient effect is if I unhook my adjustment layer, but then this affects my ENTIRE background rather than the type.

Is there a trick to keep the effect of setting without affecting the rest of the layers no matter what background color I have? Setting gradients seem better to work on black only. The problem is that my original document has a red background, so I have TO fix so that the gradient does not affect my red background. But even on a black background, I have to unclip the ad layer to see the effect. It's weird.

Try it yourself and you'll see what I mean.

I could flatten my document and retrieve my type with all its splendour of effect and just import it into my original doc, but selecting and extracting type of blur would be a big slap on the head.

    Thank you.

    Test on a black background.

    screen.jpg

Something you might try instead to use a clipping mask is a selection of the layer of loading type and then adding a layer of the gradient map.

  • How do you use this feature effectively (clipping masks?) Help

    Hello

I've been using illustrator for awhile now, but I keep coming across this sort of thing in free vectors that I download. I enclose a simple file to illustrate this. My question is, how do they do that? How to create a circle inscribed in a circle in which the inner circle mask filling of the outside circle, but can also be repositioned and resized?

I hope that makes sense! I tried very hard to understand this part of the Illustrator, but I can't get it. What is a characteristic of clipping mask? It's in the way that you save the file/create the file that allows you to do this?

Anyway, any help is very appreciated. The vector below is extracted from http://www.freevector.com/grunge-apartment-vector/

Part of the problem is that I do not know what we call this function/technique to finding help has been VERY difficult

  • logo with the degraded in InDesign clipping mask?

    Hi all

I have a small question: I use CS4 (illustrator and InDesign) on Mac OSX platform.

QUESTION: I have a one color logo (just text), which fades in transparency (applied to the type in Illustrator gradient clipping mask). I would check how I should prepare and import this logo in InDesign -to be sure, I'm not the effect of real transparency on different pages when it is applied in my InDesign book.

    Thank you kindly,

    Chemol

    As I said, put it.

  • How to get the transparent lines in a black box (clipping mask)?

    Hello

This is the first time I use Illustrator, so I hope it's a simple question.  I created a black box and a series of segments of white line through it.  Now I need those white lines to 'cut' the black box.  At the end of the day, I need just the black parts of the box with transparent bottom lines in it (so the lines take whatever the context located - that is a different image or color).  I tried to group the line segments and create a clipping mask, but had no luck.  Does anyone have advice on how this can be accomplished?

    Thank you, Marc

    image.jpg

Expand the white lines, then use the Pathfinder Palette tool for either Subtract (without tool) or divide the white lines in the cup of the black box as desired.
